Graphics performance on Satellite P100-191

I bought the laptop Satellite P100-191 yesterday, but I experienced a few problems of extreme performance from the beginning. I just reinstalled the standard display driver (Forceware 84.00 Toshiba) and changed some settings of Windows (uninstalled programs, services, etc.).

After the execution of Mark 3D! 2003! I get the result of some 6,000 Marks 3D, which is half of what this laptop should perform normally. I have the feeling that there might be a problem with the heat, because the bottom of the laptop gets VERY hot and continuous performance decrease over the system is running (up to less than 1 FPS). But since I don't have much experience with laptops, I can't tell if it's the right conclusion, or if there is just a 'bad' setting in the BIOS or somewhere.

So, I hope that someone of you can help me so that I can soon enjoy work and play correctly with the P100-191.

THX

There must be something wrong with your book, I 3dmarks03 13,600 with 191. Please check your settings und graka your energy settings, put it on the desktop. Mayby you have worked with battery?

    Hello

First sorry for my bad English.

I bought a Satellite P100-191 laptop a few months before, now I want to connect with my other PC with S/PDIF. I bought cables straight, a 3, 5 mm Klink to converter Toslink and a Toslink cable, but it comes no S/PDIF signal to the connector on the laptop. I n not know why, I'm sure I have only seen a few times before when I plugged a normal Klinkcable, but now light comes no outside light when I plug in the Klink-Toslink-Convereter.

  • Display and graphics with my Satellite P100-192 issues

    Hello

I have following problems with my almost 3 year old Toshiba Satellite P100-192:

In the last few weeks my latop ran very hot when I played games or used another difficult software.

Last week, the computer began to freeze the screen for a while and then the screen turned black and I had to reset. When I start now my laptop screen TOSHIBA and Windows startup screen has some vertical stripes in reds or roses. After starting the Windows retains the turnes black screen and I can't do anything.
When I start Windows mode safed scratches are still there but the system works well.
Now, I have thought that I have a software, the driver or the virus problem and formatted the HARD drive with the TOSHIBA recovery disks. After decomprimating I thought I can install Windows XP, but the black screen is back and it is so impossible to reinstall.

What should I do now? Is my graphics card fault? Why everything worked well in safed mode?

    Please help me!
    Thank you very much!

    Hello!

It's strange, but I think it might be a graphics card problem.
In safe mode without driver will be loaded and this could be the reason why you have this problem only in normal mode.

Also, have you tried an external monitor? Maybe it's a question of s only a LCD internal.
    Check it!

I doubt that it of a virus or something else because you have used the recovery disk and it erases the entire HARD disk.

  • Problem with graphic framerate with Satellite P100

    Hello

I searched on several forums but I did not describe my problem as I have, well, I don't know that it is similar to the problems having the most with their Windows Vista and nvidia graphics cards. First heres my system

    Satellite p-100
    NVIDIA geforce go 7600
    2.0 ghz centrino duo
    blah blah blah

in any case, I read that most of you have experienced whie playing games like Oblivion which it will play fine for a while then your framerate drops down and the graphics "stuttering".
My experience has been that, I start to play a game, and what appears to be a random delay of my computer will crash and shut down.
I then re - turn on the power and restart my computer.
Sometimes, I feel a secondary accident during indexing turn it back on for the opening screen vista user, this will continue to happen until I have detach my power running and unplug/reonnect the battery. Then finally I can connect in Vista without crashing it.

This problem has occurred on several games with games on high and low graphics settings, I tried these games so far: forgotten, Half life 2, Counter strike source and source of life even half 1.
IT didn't happen while he was playing Microsoft Flight Simulator X and I have no idea why I can't turn the graphic way up on MSFSX, and I wouldn't be an accident.
Someone has any ideas concerning this problem for other games.
I've updated my graphic card drivers several times even tried rollign return and others, but nothing works.
    Any help greatly appreciated

  • Replacement of the graphics card for Satellite P100-188

Does anyone know of any other graphics cards I can use as a replacement because I can not hand on the original anywhere (it's a stand-alone card by the way, not built-in).

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi mate

I doubt that you can replace only the graphics chip
In most cases, the graphics card is part of the motherboard.
Of course some chips are not soldered and could be removed, but these are special chips and match only with these special commissions.

As far as I know you can order all the compatible parts of an ASP in local, but I think it will be not possible to order only a standalone graphics chip but the whole motherboard for P100.
Nevertheless, it is worth to ask guys in your country

  • SATA HDD mode & performance on Satellite P100-222

    Hello everyone!

I found that my HARD drive in instead of ATA7 UDMA5 mode supported. It looks like SATA ACHI is disabled in the BIOS, and I find no way to turn it on. It is clear that even faster UDMA5 then the drive HARD, but what about NCQ & other SATA command supported?
In any case, the HD tune results http://www.hdtune.com is less than that specified for this HARD drive & interface:

    HD Tune: TOSHIBA MK1234GSX Benchmark

    Minimum transfer rate: 7.7 MB/s
    Transfer rate maximum: 34.4 MB/s
    Average transfer rate: 28.6 MB/sec
    Access time: 17,0 ms
    Gust speed: 64.2 MB/sec
    CPU usage: 9.1%

Now the slowest part of my system & waiting to start to the top or level of loading takes a long time.
Is someone have any suggestions to increase the performance of the HARD drive?

    Hello

In my view the problem is not just HARD disk performance you need to optimize your operating system. How long takes the boot process depends on the application from Windows OS list. You can check it out if you go to start > run and enter MSCONFIG here.

When the system configuration utility is started Startup tab check and remove the check mark in front of elements, you need not. Also, check the startup folder and delete all the shortcuts, you don't need. On this way, the boot process should be faster.

If you need more performance for games I recommend you to upgrade RAM. You will see that the unit runs a lot faster and you can use several applications at the same time.

  • Satellite P100-187 - new graphics card update

Looks like my gfx on my laptop is dying. I can't enter windown with gfx drivers installed (black screen after the victory logo).
Can enter windows if I uninstall the drivers of gfx in safe mode.
By starting a few colors become pink and there are 2 vertical stripes of light on the screen (2cm wide, and is not disapere)

There's an MXM II on the motherboard to be able to replace the gfx with a nVidia GeForce 8600 M GT 512 MB DDR2 MXM II best or should I get a new Go 7600.

What worries me is if the laptop could get overheated with the 8600M GT.

    cordially Natal

    Hello

I'm not a computer genius, but maybe I can help you...

If you see these scratches even in the BIOS screen, then probably your graphics card is fried. If the glitches only occur under windows, then try to download the original graphic drivers for satellite P100-(shortmodelno) of: http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=EU (if you don't know no short model of your laptop, you can learn it from Toshiba Tempro program) and then start windows in safe mode, uninstall graphics drivers after that restart windows, and install the drivers you downloaded. If it still does not work, try to reset your computer to factory by the recovery disc. And if you're still having problems, then I am afraid your computer may have a hardware failure and you would need to send it to repair.

Moreover, as long as you do not play video games or use any other application 3D for long periods Geforce 8600 M GT should not overheat your laptop.

    Hope that helps...

  • Satellite P100: Multiprocessor is disabled in the BIOS v4.20

    Hello

I have just updated the bios to 4.20, after reboot, I went to the bios settings and saw that the multiprocessor (the option for the use of 2 CPUs) is disabled.

After I enabled it, the computer is very slow, and I had problems with starting the computer.

When the multiprocessor option is disabled, the computer works ok, but the Task Manager indicates that a single processor.

I had to go down to the bios to version 4.00.
I would like to know if there is another solution for this.

    Hello

In front of me, I have Satellite P100-191. I did the BIOS update to version 4.20, and in my case, Multiprosessor is undoubtedly permissible. In this case, the entry in the Device Manager shows 2 processors.

I disabled this option and the laptop runs slowly than before and in the device manager what a processor is listed.

I don't really know what is wrong in your case, but I can confirm that the Satellite P100-191 friends, everything works well.

  • Satellite P100 - 286 PSPAG: need new nVidia 7900 GS driver for Vista

As with a number of other posters I've read, the graphics performance on my P100 with a nVidia GeForce Go 7900 GS are not good on Vista 32 bit. Frequent stuttering after a few moments of reasonably moderate use.

The latest driver on the Toshiba site is only 9748 since 15/03/07 and the nVidia site does not provide for the 7900 GS Go Vista drivers.

laptopvideo2go site appears to be in trouble at the moment, but some drivers tried it with no difference in performance in any case.

Any suggestions? Does anyone know if Toshiba are planning to make a new Vista driver anytime soon? Is this typical Vista teething probs, and I have to just wait until SP1 later in the year?

The P100 is a computer laptop, nice, but being paralyzed at the moment by the graphics card.

    Hello

I noticed that some users have reported a graphic stutter only while playing games.
But after installing Windows XP graphic stuttering is gone!

I also read on the results of 3DMark and Win XP gets much better results under Win Vista. I think that the most important reason is that Vista needs a lot more material resources as first Microsoft OS.

In any case, I think that the first service pack for Vista Microsoft will increase the performance of Vista and games will run smoothly.

  • Performance of the graphics card on the Satellite P100 - 10 p

I have a near new Satellite P100 - 10 p. On paper the performance figures was intrigued, but I was disappointed with the graphics performance:

1 games tend to have a temporary frame rate slowdown every 3 seconds approximately.

2 Media players often begin to play choppy (especially Windowns media player and DVD to win)

    Is this a bios problem?
If this is not the case, what I can try?

I've updated the BIOS, but the problem is still evident.

    Hello

It is not the BIOS or the problem but the problem of Vista.

If you install XP on this notebook, you will notice a huge graphic performance increase.

I found this message here in the forum posted by Jack_Black:

I found this very interesting discussion and I need to clarify something.
You n t need to upgrade the BIOS to another version to play the different games on the Vista operating system.

The games couldn't t work properly because of the Vista OS.

Several weeks ago, Microsoft released and fix that resolves some problems with the Multi-GPU support on Vista. This is useful for users who use the computer gamer with 2 GPU

Now, Microsoft has released patch which solves the problems with the use of virtual address space. It is a reason why some games crashed or didn't flow normally.

  • Satellite P100: Why the graphics card Nvidia 7900 is not available in the United Kingdom?

Why nvidia 7900 GPUs is not available in the p100 to the United Kingdom? Europe & Middle East the 7900gs is available in the continent. The 7900 gtx in the States is available.

    Why?

    Hello

I put t believe that it of not possible to buy a P100 with the graphics card Nvidia 7900 to the United Kingdom. If you can't buy it forms mobile phone dealer in your city, so I'd check the shops online cell phone.
I studied a little bi and found these P100 units with the graphic card nVidia 7900.

    Satellite P100-426; P100-194; P100-191; P100-196; P100-215; P100-222

I found three different cards which were delivered with the P100:
NVIDIA GeForce Go 7900; GeForce Go 7600 and Intel 945GM Express

Anyway, the P100 is a new laptop and eventually you can't buy it in every store, but in my opinion several times this unit should be available in the United Kingdom with the GeForce Go 7900

  • Want to buy a Satellite P100-> graphics card question

    Hello

    I want to buy a Satellite P100
    as the 442 (Core 2 Duo T5200)
but im afraid that the VGA Intel® 945GM Express chipset
whit max 128 MB is a little low for Vista?

the 443 and 444 have one
    NVIDIA® GeForce Go 7600 / 7900
but the price is much higher...

or is the 128 VGA Intel® 945GM good enough for Vista?

I am not gamer but hate when it takes a lot of time to play
a vid, an mp3 or open a site Web etc.

    Hello

I'm not a P100 owner but I want to share with you my experience of Vista.
If you are right. Intel 945GM graphics card is certainly not the best solution for Vista.
It is a 128 MB shared graphics card and believe me the features of Vista like Aero Aeroglass does not turn or she would go, but with very poor performance.

So if you want to buy a laptop that really is Vista capable, I would recommend buying one with a great graphics card.
The graphics card must supports min 256 MB video memory clean? No shared video memory

My graphics card is broken down, and after removing dozens of screws, I checked that it is not built into the motherboard. I could he dismantled after removing the screws of the bottom three.

Research in the internet, I found just 1 card graph similar to mine. But I don't know if it will work, because I read that the devices must be exactly the same as the original:

I asked the seller eBay on compatibility and his answer was: "Please contact Toshiba for the complete product compatibility." But Toshiba does not provide any support after the expiration of the warranty (in Spain).

Anyone replaced this graphics card? Do you think I should buy the graphics card of this ebay? Are there other solutions? (for example: replacing the entire motherboard...)

    Thanks a lot in advance.

I never had to replace a graphics card in a notebook, but I wouldn't buy any part if I m not 100% sure if it would be compatible with my laptop.

Is that SATELLITE P100-342 was equipped with a NVIDIA GeForce Go 7600 (name of code G73M) PCI Express x 16 (GDDR2 dedicated 256 GB RAM) graphics card.

The part on ebay supports 128 MB only and that's why I think that the two parties are not the same.
This might be the reason not to buy this piece.
