Grep string, Indesign question

I'm trying to code a large block of text that contains a large number of variables, and two of my strings are interfering with each other/causing something to pick up style when I do not want what he (initials, J.R. Martin, for example).

I know my question is (\D+)? How will I know to take only the numbers that are something more than two letters?

(?<=\.|;) (\D+?) (((\s)(?i)by(\s))| ((\s)(?i)at(\s))| (?=,|;))

Thank you!!

try to replace (\D+?) (\D\D+?) and I don't know the? doing you a favor, because the shortest correspondence would be always two characters. https://www.hightail.com/u/PeterSpier-dropbox

  • Print and import of Illustrator into Indesign Questions

    Hello

    I am currently doing a project for College and I am fairly new to Indesign and Illustrator...

    My Question is if I create a logo or a work of art in illustrator how to import it in inDesign, for the moment that I'm just place the .ai file in my project of indesign, but I noticed that it tends to lose the look of vector. Number one am I imported the file correctly, and number two, I make a brochure standard, if I want to activate this go to print I do save as pdf and then print?

    This leads to my final question,

    I have an A4 of the project in illustrator and stuck in a configuration of A3 in illustrator so I can use the space on the project of A3 to explain what I did in the project etc... If I save it in PDF format I can still print on a sheet A3 or because I saved it as a PDF it will print as A4?

    Sorry for what seems like silly questions for you, but scratching their heads material for me...

    Thanks in advance.

    Rgds

    Jason

    To bring your art Illustrator file > Place...

    View > display performance > high quality screen will improve the look on the screen. Vectors print at the resolution of the output device, so the preview always is just a preview and not an indication of print quality.

    Normal workflow these days is to provide a PDF for printing. You can print on any sheet size you like. You can learn more about "slug" in the help files. The slug area is outside the trim on your ID file and is used to the notes of the printer as you describe.

  • How to display the previous strings of questions / answers on the support of FF?

    I read this answer, but it's not really answering the question.

    "If you're connected, you see a section of my Contributions in the filter bar at the top that goes to:
    https://support.mozilla.org/questions?filter=my-contributions".

    I do not see the bar 'filter' or 'my answers' after I connect. I just saw 'Ask a question' "my log in name" and some other stuff right cela and below.

    So after I log in, how to watch the channels of my previous questions and answers to them, including those?

    Hmmmm...!

    I saw clearly that you asked the withdrawal of paragraph at the left and right. My suggestion is to reduce from any point of withdrawal left and withdrawal right, and everything will be ok.

    These things happens especially when convert us another file of the software such as Pagemaker Indesign in Indesign, Ms word to Indesign so now...

    Hope this work for you

  • Use GREP in Indesign scripts

    Hi guys,.

    I have this script that tries to apply a couple of GREPs simultaneously. From what I can tell this should work, but for some reason any my GREP expressions raise an error.

    Can someone give me some advice as to why it does not work?

    function read () {}

    app.findGrepPreferences = app.changeGrepPreferences = null;

    app.findGrepPreferences.findWhat = ' the\s +? (section\s +? \t+? \d+?) [.? \d+]?)";
    app.changeGrepPreferences.changeTo = "$1";

    app.activeDocument.changeGrep ();

    app.findGrepPreferences = app.changeGrepPreferences = null;

    app.findGrepPreferences.findWhat = "(?i) activity\s +?" level ';
    app.changeGrepPreferences.changeTo="Activity\sLevel ';

    app.activeDocument.changeGrep ();
    }

    proofread();

    Thanks in advance

    Try this,

    function proofread () {
        app.findGrepPreferences=app.changeGrepPreferences=null;
        app.findGrepPreferences.findWhat= "the\\s+?(section\\s+?\\t+?\\d+?[.?\\d+]?)";
        app.changeGrepPreferences.changeTo="$1";
        app.activeDocument.changeGrep();

        app.findGrepPreferences=app.changeGrepPreferences=null;
        app.findGrepPreferences.findWhat="(?i)activity\\s+?level";
        app.changeGrepPreferences.changeTo="Activity\\sLevel";
        app.activeDocument.changeGrep();
        app.findGrepPreferences=app.changeGrepPreferences=null;
        }
    proofread();

    Another method:

    findChange("the\\s+?(section\\s+?\\t+?\\d+?[.?\\d+]?)", "$1");
    findChange("(?i)activity\\s+?level", "Activity\\sLevel");

    function findChange(findWhat, changeTo) {
        app.findGrepPreferences = app.changeGrepPreferences = NothingEnum.nothing;
        if (findWhat) {
            app.findGrepPreferences.findWhat = findWhat;
        }
        if (changeTo) {
            app.changeGrepPreferences.changeTo = changeTo;
        }
        app.activeDocument.changeGrep();
        app.findGrepPreferences = app.changeGrepPreferences = NothingEnum.nothing;
    }

  • Preview InDesign question: items not displayed in preview mode or printing

    In Indesign, some elements (images and text) are hidden in preview mode even if their layer options are checked for printing and display. This was discssed with chat support but support could not solve the problem by taking a quick glance to the queue for an hour, and I had to leave the cat.

    Could someone give advice if it seems familiar?

    What is happening in and outside, and it's not all items disappear in preview mode. I even reinstalled the application, but it made no difference.

    Thank you!

    With the actual selected item, open the attributes Panel and check that there is not printable.

    The other possibility is that you have a white object to overprint.

  • GREP in Indesign. Research of two characters, and apply only in a style

    Hello, I turn again to this community. It is possible through the GREP to find two characters and apply single style? That is, applied in one and ignoring the other. Is there a script? Thank you.

    The trick is to use the 'positive advanced search' (this is the topic Match from the drop-down icon next to GREP find what):

    f(?=\()

  • InDesign question

    I create a PDF in InDesign and when it opens in acrobat reader pages are blank. Any suggestions?

    It was me, rather than Derek, who asked the overprint preview. Endangered means that objects are nonprinting somehow. Could be the layer is set on not print, or the objects themselves could be configured to not print in the Panel.

    If it is in the attributes, it could be that you accidentally put this default error by checking the box with nothing selected. Done with a file open, it would affect only this file, any file opened, it becomes the default for all new work.

  • Search broken in CC2015 grep string

    Our company has just migrated cs6 CC2015. Several of our workflow is based on a simple grep search which has worked flawlessly for the CS6.

    (^\d+|\d+$)

    I need to enter one or more numbers at the beginning or end of a line (for a specific paragraph style). The end of the line "\d+$" returns no results in CC2015 while it is part of the alternation. The beginning of the return of fine line matches. On its own, the end of the part of the line works very well. Any ideas?

    ((^\d+)| (\d+$)) seems to work. It will not find numbers at the end if the paragraph begins with a digit, however.

  • Grep string help

    I try so to create GREP style to make a project more quickly.  I'm trying to have everything in a period and a comma style, or between one time and the word ' or to the '.

    That's what I have so far:

    (?<=\.). +? (((\s)(?i)by(\s))| ((\s)(?i)at(\s))| (?=,))

    My problem is that sometimes a date appears, on 2 December, and because it is between the period and the comma it gets the character style. How can I remove it, or tell it to ignore figures or them to do this to one or more words?

    Help!

    Rapid fire:

    Instead of. + ? Try \D+?

    This means that "everything except the numbers."

  • Profile of color in InDesign question

    I created a shade using a Pantone color:

    Screen Shot 2013-06-10 at 5.28.31 PM.png

    But in the color Panel, it appears as a color lab:

    Screen Shot 2013-06-10 at 5.28.41 PM.png

    And when I have the mouse on the swatch in the swatches Panel, I see these values in the floating yellow box above the sample that appears on mouseover.

    The ink Manager is not to use the lab for task values:

    Screen Shot 2013-06-10 at 5.35.40 PM.png

    Why InDesign converts the tones of colors lab? In addition, fusion of transparent space is set to CMYK (if it's relevant).

    CS6 8.0.1 on Mac OSX 10.8.4 ID

    Any help would be great.

    Best thing is to try it. Open the PDF in Acrobat and open the output Preview Panel. Your Pantone (s) will be listed if it is present at the bottom of the list.

    Take care, Mike

  • Need simple GREP string

    I have a simple task that I have to accomplish and I could use a simple command GREP to do, but I still have to understand what it is. Here's what I have:

    a paragraph break a number (numbers 1, 2 or more) and a new paragraph break. I find it easily with the Find command: \r\d+\r

    I need to replace with a single paragraph breaks and place brakets in front and behind the numbers without changing the numbers. If I use the $0 in the chain of change that he leaves still including the digit or if I use [$0] on change, it puts parentheses in but leave the paragraph breaks. I'm not there's something simple I'm missing here, but I have yet to understand what it is. Can someone please?

    Sorry, left out the spaces. Change [$ 2]

  • Newbie on string comparison question

    I was messing about with a bit of code and realized that the top operation returns FALSE, then the next operation returns TRUE.

    String one = new String ('a');
    String b = new String ('a');
    System.out.println (a == b);

    String s1 = "yes";
    String s2 = "yes";
    System.out.println (s1 == s2)

    I expect to return FALSE. What is the difference between the two ways to create a string?

    user558321 wrote:

    It has to do with what we call 'internment of string", which is a slightly advanced topic and you will probably never need to worry.

    Always test for equality of strings with string1.equals("asd") and no operator ==.
