  • How to fix wlcomm.exe constantly using 25% cpu?

    Hello

We have a Dell i3 laptop that feels lethargic.  I noticed in the task manager that wlcomm.exe is constantly using 25% cpu.

The laptop is running Windows 7 and Windows Live Mail 2011.

Why wlcomm.exe use so much resource cpu and how can I stop it do it please?

    Best regards

    David

It is probably downloading and indexing of your email to provide instant search functionality.  If you let it run for a day, it should calm down.  Normal conditions of use "lazy" CPU by wlcomm is about 2% or less.

  • (fontcache) Svchost.exe using 99% cpu

Hi, I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate x 64. Randomly, the svchost.exe (fontcache) service will start using 99% of my cpu, everything a lot. Specifically, it starts happening when I play Team Fortress 2, but it also happens while I play the game. During a match, making the game lag, giving me a very large ping 2000ms + and no fps. If I end the process, it stops and is fine. But it could be the cause?

Common programs, I have running at all times are as follows:

    AVG anti-virus

    Pidgin (AIM client)

    Skype

    Google chrome

    Windows media player

Any help would be great, it becomes annoying random having my computer be bogged down for no reason. Let me know if you need more information

    Thank you, xJedix

Hey guys, thanks for the suggestions.  Actually, I found another person who had this problem.  Their solution was to remove the additions of the shell that nvidia added to when you right-click on the desktop and things.  This has solved the problem, at least until now...  It's 3 days now without problem and also fixed my problem Explorer.exe crashing several times when I was reviewing the files :)

If anyone is wondering how to disable programs that have been added to the hull, use shexview.

  • Task Mgr shows 'System' constantly using 50% CPU, with nothing running

    I have a laptop Sony Vaio VGN-FW495J with Intel Core 2 Duo P8700 CPU 2.53Ghz - no slouch of a machine when I bought 2 + years ago, running 64-bit Windows 7 Ultimate SP1.

Recently I had suspicions that his performance was being affected (taking a long time to get to files from Windows Explorer, and then open them, etc.) even though I am running an SSD correctly configured, have a full 8 GB of memory, and my Windows experience index is average upward.
I went into the Windows Task Manager and saw that my "CPU usage" was slightly more than 50%.  Then, I went and killed all the processes not essential, but - even after you leave my system "settle" (i.e. completely go & literally - intact) for several hours, I observed in the Manager of tasks Windows as the 'system' (PID = '4'; Description = "NT Kernel and System") was the culprit - it is this process that used consistently about 50% of my total CPU.  NOTE: just to be clear - this is very unusual - I've never seen that happen before.
Can't understand it - from a point of view user/GUI, the system is not some thing (I'm not under any user or background programs and I have not a lot of foreign running Services - in fact, outside the 2012 AVG, NO Services non - MS are running).
QUESTION:  It all MS Windows utility - or third party that anyone participating in these forums - may recommend to "pick apart" / "retail", whatever it is specifically that the 'system' is use that is only 50% of my CPU?

    FIGURED IT OUT!

There was a "New Software" driver, Inc. for a product called "-Lock Folder", which is used to be able to assign a password to access to the windows folders, which was invoked by the kernel of the Win7 system.  I uninstalled this product problem and hop, disappeared - not more than 50% CPU used by the system.
    How I did it:
I couldn't find any software or features 'Xperf', "Windows Process Monitor" or "Windows Process Explorer" that allowed me to 'draw' the Thread ID incriminated the responsible driver.  However, Windows Process Explorer is displayed information for all pilots being charge/invoked for a given process - including the process of core of 'system '.
I just and slowly traveled through all 173 of them and went thought on what drivers non-Microsoft could possibly have something to do with locking of resources - a clue given to me by the start address for the TID offending Process Explorer:
    "ntoskrnl.exe"! "KeAcquireInStackQueuedSpinLockAtDcpLevel+ 0x1e0.
    Normal "human heuristic logic;
Thanks for the tip on Process Explorer JW - I had already installed but had not really thought about using it.
Could have lent oath, I saw this problem until recently well - and I had this product installed for several months - Oh Well, that's going to just be one of those pursuing "mysteries of Windows' - which provides for the possibility of thousands of geeks to be employee -
  • plugplay service using all cpu

I recently hit a performance on my PC problem - looking at the Task Manager, I see that an instance of svchost.exe is gobbling up CPU.  I selected the process and found it in PlugPlay DCOMLaunch services. I found other similar problems on this forum, but no definitive answer to fix things when the service is listed as PlugPlay.

I guess it is something about service PlugPlay which causes the problem, but how can I solve this problem? I looked at the options for disabling a service, but he said that Plug-and-Play is essential & if I turn it off I get to system instability.
I am running Vista Home Premium with service pack 2.
    Any suggestions gratefully received!

You would need to split export into several parts and have several exports running at the same time.

Example: start the export for the first 1000 photos and, as soon as start, start and export for then 1000 pictures, etc.

    Hey Buddy

The same problem here. :( A universal solution is unknown to me but what I do is from the Task Manager. When svchost shows more than 90% of its use I simply stop this stupid process. After having done that, I can use my laptop without any problem and it will not happen again.

After restarting the laptop, the same thing happens again. I checked some other forums but never found no reasonable explanation how manage this stupid question.

    Hello grtgtrplyr,

I understand your processor is constantly working to 100% and you are looking to fix. I'm you provide a HP support document: using Microsoft System Configuration (Windows 8), which will guide you through to disable startup items and Services in your system that may be causing the problem. I would recommend that once you have disabled any of this case the question constantly you then start reactivating the Services items and commissioning until you determine which is causing the problem. You can re-enable one at a time or in groups to refine more quickly. Once you know what Service or startup item is causing the problem, you can search a solution for it.

If you wish to help with this is you please re-post with the Service or startup item and I'll be happy to help you. Thanks for posting on the HP Forums. Have a great day!

  • Svchost.exe using too much cpu!

I have a Windows 2003 Media operating system, svchost.exe occupies almost all my cpu.  I tried to download the update, but I already have service pack 3.  Not sure why this problem arises now because it seems to be a problem that Microsoft fixed in 2007.  Help, please! I read that there is an agent 3 or something like that which solves the problem. What happens if anything do I need to download.  I will also try to see if the problem pops up in safe mode.  I'll look to see where the svchost is still running.

Download and run the "Process Monitor" freeware.  It's a task manager on steroids.  Find the svchost that uses all CPUS and place your cursor over the name of "svchose.exe".  A pop-up window displays all the services covered by it.  Go to the Services (start-> Run-> 'services.msc') screen, check for these services, and by a stop or pause these services while monitoring your CPU usage.  You should find it pretty quickly.

  • my pc CPU running at 100% for all the programs I opened / what is the problem and how to solve?

my pc CPU fan runs very strongly & the processor running at 100% for all the programs I opened. DO NOT KNOW IF IT IS A VIRUS IN THE PC WAS WORKING FINE A FEW DAYS AGO. How can I solve this issue?

    Hello

You did changes to the computer before this problem?

Step 1: Check if the problem persists in the clean boot state.

From your computer by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs so that you can determine if a background program is interfering with your game or program. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot".

    Reference:
How to configure Windows XP to start in a "clean boot" State
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/310353

When you are finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:

    1. click on start and then click Run.
    2. type msconfig and click OK.

The System Configuration Utility dialog box appears.

    3. click on the tab general, click Normal Startup - load all services and device drivers and then click OK.
    4. When prompted, click on restart to restart the computer.

Step 2: Also, look for error messages in the event viewer. If you find error messages after return the exact error message so that we can help you better.
