Grid control

Kindly help me in this endeavor.
Oracle® Enterprise Manager Grid Control Installation and Configuration Guide
10g Release 5 (10.2.0.5.0)
Part Number E10953-15
18 configuration Enterprise Manager for Active and Passive environments
18.1 using Virtual Host names for environments Active and Passive high availability in Enterprise Manager Database Control
Set Up the Alias for the Virtual Host Name and Virtual IP Address

You can set up the alias for the virtual host name and virtual IP address by either allowing the clusterware to set it up automatically or
by setting it up manually before installation and startup of Oracle services. The virtual host name must be static and resolvable consistently
on the network. All nodes participating in the setup must resolve the virtual IP address to the same host name. Standard TCP tools similar
to nslookup and traceroute commands can be used to verify the set up.
My question is, for the paragraph that precedes, it seems to be missing details. It is assumed that the reader already knows how do?

Can you help me find the docs missing details for this?

Thank you

zxy

Still, if you want to create a cluster of operating system level, you must level operating system, software clustering. Which is provided by the operating system vendor (or a third party for the operating system) not by the hardware vendor. This is why you said now many times that there is no such thing as 'Dell clusterware provider'. If you are looking for something that does not exist, you are unlikely to find something useful.

In your thread in duplicate (one of the reasons why it is annoying to have multiple threads duplicate with a different story and its context), I you pointed a clusterware solution for linux operating system. Hemant suggested others. If you're dead set on using OS clusterware to create a cluster rather than using CARS, you will need investigating one or more of these options to determine which work for you.

    Hello

Im trying to set up a Grid control environment.

If I understand Grid Control is now called "Cloudcontrol", right?

If I study the Documentation of Oracle 11 I'll end up with references to the old Versions of Weblogic, Java, etc.

This can not be downloaded more for example.

Main difference (new features) between Oracle 11g and 12 c OEM

Cloud control is the next version of Enterprise Manager and has the same features and functionality in the grid, as well as control of new things (such as the management of the clouds). For more details on new features,.

    See: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/oem/cloud-mgmt-496758.html?ssSourceSiteId=ocomen

    To the Documentaion 12 c:

You need to control software for cloud 12 c OEM, software database (for creating repository) and software agent (for tracking targets on other hosts)

Java Development Kit (JDK) 1.6.0.43.0 and Oracle WebLogic Server 11 g Release 1 (10.3.6) are installed by default with the installation of SGD 12 c, even if you have a possibility to install it separately if you want, but Oracle strongly recommends using the installation process of 12 c to install the JDK and Oracle WebLogic Server for use with Enterprise Manager 12 c.

  • Retention policy for the grid control

    Hello

One of our clients wants to change the retention policy of the Grid control to 2 years in order to check the statistics of the application of these last 2 years,

Default purge policy is as follows:

    Raw metrics - 7 days

An hour aggregate metrics data - 31 days

A day aggregate metrics data - 365 days

Having someone of you will never change these default policies to a great values?

    I'm afraid of performance issues

Depends on what policy they want change, but I n ' tthink this will help you at all.  If they are looking for AWR data, it is not stored in MS, unless you configure CWA warehouse.   EM will be measures such as SQL response time, but it does not store the SQL query and the stats you'd see in an AWR report.   Storing so for 2 years will not help.  If you want just generic performance history, then changing strategies of purge will be fine, but you don't want to store the raw data for 2 years. Keep in mind that you will increase the size of your repository database as well.

  • Oracle Grid control Installationsur solaris 10

    Dear all,

We have a database with Solaris 10 (64-bit) server OS and oracle 11g, 10 g and 9i as the version of database installed in it.

We want to monitor all the data base with the grid control because it will give us the function to monitor all the DB system.

Now, as we have only 11g, the latest version of db on the server.

So, my question is that is it possible that we install the oracle 12 c grid control (11g grid control is no longer available for download) on another server and install the agent on all the db so that we can control according to the requirement.

Future prospects for the expert views.

    Regarding

    Nimai kinzonzi

-You can install EM 12.1.0.4.0 DB version 10.2.0.5.0 and GR 11, 1 material, but not with 10.2.0.1.0. Please refer to the certification matrix for more details.

  • Edition of database repository for Oracle Grid Control

Can the repository database for Oracle Grid Control standard edition?  Company limited license and cannot use enterprise edition for Oracle Grid Control.  Please notify.  Thank you very much!!

The requirement is due to the EM dependency on partitioning, which is an option of EE.

EM 12: Enterprise Manager Cloud control 12 c requires a repository database Enterprise Edition (Doc ID 1438655.1)

Overview of the prerequisites set EM

To ensure that the existing, certified Oracle database has the Option of partitioning enabled (therefore, make sure that install you it in Oracle Database Enterprise Edition.) Installation and use of the option of partitioning in the Enterprise Manager repository don't add fees to customers when it is only used by Enterprise Manager.

Not sure if the link will work.  Connect on Mos, tab click certificates, and then look for in Enterprise Manager Base platform - CMS and select 12.1.0.3.   To view the results of 10g / 11g, search for Grid Control.

  • 11G Grid Control Installation.

    Hello

I need to install 11g grid control in a server, using the grid control, I need to maintain and manage 4 different databases, they are running in different servers.

Please guide me what stage I must follow.

    Note:
Each target, I need to install the management agent? and how to install the management agent?

I suggest that get you the latest version on EM 12.10.2 rather than 11 g. You can install costs em 12.1.0.2 SGD and agents to install 12.1.0.2 on your DB. Agent note 11g will not work with 12 ch. SGC or vice versa.

  • Grid control: Metrics.and custom SQL alert.

    Hello
I need to set up the email alerts on a custom sql metric that I created.

Here's what I did so far in the Enterprise grid control manager.

    (1) connect to EMGC
    (2) select the host and the target on the host computer.
    (3) select "User-Defined Metrics" on the lower right.
    (4) created my success of 'CUSTOM_CHECK' return either 0 custom sql script or 1 failure
    (5) registered.

I'm trying to configure an alert message, when the script runs and generates an error.
I'm also 10 other databases on 2 hosts, where I need this script to run and monitor.
I need to create the metric of sql for each target on each host? Or y at - it an easier way to do it.

How to set this in GC, while it traversese in the whole of the dataabases.
    Thank you
    Div

Not that I know of. You go into each case and create the alert custom according to the parameters defined by the user. You can simply copy and paste the same script in each case.
Please indicate your response message if you got your solution.

  • Add the server as a target OEM grid control to monitor

    Hi Experts,

I installed the grid control OEM 11.1.0.1.0 on server 'A', which has a database version Oracle 11.2.0.1.
The operating system on the server 'A' is 5.5 OEL. The grid control installed on this server works fine and I have deployed agents on remote hosts that I am able to monitor successfully using this grid control.

Now, I want to add the server ('A') on which the grid control is installed to be monitored by the grid control. Could someone let me know how to do this? I felt that it's the same way deploy us agents to remote hosts, but here, the agent is already installed at time of installation of control Grid.

  • A simple question - use of 11g grid control

As I was trying to know the name of the database - for a particular server and schema - of course I don't know the name of the server and schema - however I am not able to find the database associated using the Grid control.

I wonder if there are any good book on control areas (11 g) network manager - how to find the various parameters and how to interpret the metadata for databases, servers, patterns tables etc. backup recovery

I always start with Oracle on line documentation. They update frequently. Here is the URL for 11g EM:

  • How to use the OEM grid control to find databases, not in archivelog mode?

    Hello

We have currently 130 databases, say, if I want to come off as any database currently NOT in archivelog mode, is there a quick way to find out?

    using the OEM grid control

    or

    a similar trick,

but really do not need to manually check each database.

    Thank you very much!

This query works in 12 c - please run as SYSMAN.
It is based on undocumented assumptions well + (AND key_value = "NOARCHIVELOG") +.

      SELECT *
      FROM SYSMAN.MGMT$GROUP_DERIVED_MEMBERSHIPS O ,
        SYSMAN.MGMT$TARGET T ,
        sysman.MGMT$AVAILABILITY_CURRENT st
      WHERE
      o.member_target_type IN ('oracle_database', 'rac_database')
      AND ( t.target_type ='rac_database'
      OR (t.target_type ='oracle_database'
      AND t.type_qualifier3        != 'RACINST'))
      AND o. member_target_guid = t.target_guid
      AND t.target_guid = st.target_guid
      AND st.availability_status = 'Target Up'
      AND ( EXISTS
        (SELECT *
        FROM sysman.mgmt$metric_current i
        WHERE I.TARGET_GUID = O.MEMBER_TARGET_GUID
        AND metric_name = 'archFull'
        AND Metric_Column = 'archTotal'
        AND metric_label = 'Archive Area'
AND column_label = 'Total Archive Area (KB)'
        AND key_value = 'NOARCHIVELOG'
        ));

Another way to achieve the goal is to push the extended parameters (SELECT LOG_MODE FROM V$ DATABASE) on each DB and monitor the values they return to the repository. This is an example for a (slightly) different problem - http://iiotzov.wordpress.com/2012/08/08/how-to-use-the-new-oem-12c-metric-extensions-to-enforce-enterprise-wide-custom-policies.

OEM repository has many other uses grand-http://iiotzov.files.wordpress.com/2012/05/oem-repository-a-second-look.doc, http://iiotzov.files.wordpress.com/2011/08/iotzov_oem_repository.pdf

    Look for them
$AGENT_HOME\sysman\log\emoms.log and $AGENT_HOME\sysman\log\emoms.trc and take action

Normally below a series of steps should help:

    . / emctl stop agent

    . / emctl clearstate agent

    . / emctl unsecured agent

    . / emctl upload agent

    . / emctl secure agent

    . / emctl status agent

  • agent of undiscovered database grid control

    Hello

I installed the agent 12 c under user oracle grid control-> we use oracle userid to install grid agent oem12c
but I have a hypd database running on the same server under user PHyp. We used PHyp userid to install the hyperion database.

now when I try to add the database in 12 c agent is not to find out.

    appreciate any suggestions.
    Thank you

Assuming that the database in question is an Oracle database, check that:

-The owner of the agent software can read the/etc/oratab or/var/opt/oracle/oratab file depending on the platform.
Note: For the discovery of database work, it is necessary to have an appropriate entry for the database in the oratab file.

-The owner of software agent (oracle) should be in the same group of BONES with the owner of database software (PHyp) to allow reading and enforcement officer some files in the database host.

    Kind regards
    -Loc
