GTX 960 Mac Pro crash in first CC 2015

Hello

I have a problem while running Adobe first CC 2015 when playback the GPU or crashes and restarts the entire system.

The Console connects state that the program is running CL open and causing errors in CL open despite being correctly installed CUDA drivers.

25/02/16 12:14:15.955 PM Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2015 [2110]: [CL_INVALID_MEM_OBJECT]: OpenCL error: clGetImageInfo failed: object not valid cl_mem 0x0.

Is this a problem with the Mercury playback engine?

Is there a way to force the CC to use CUDA?

We manage the current drivers of web (346.02.03.f05) Nvidia and CUDA (7.5.25) drivers

We use a Mac Pro 5.1 with a simple 6-Core Xeon clocked at 3.46 Ghz and 48 gb of ram with a 960 GB GTX 2 GPUS. The OS is 10.10.5

The GPU is not flashed to Mac.

In the project settings, you should be able to change that MPE you use the menu drop down.  Mac with nVidia cards and CUDA drivers appear generally all three choices:

  • OpenCL
  • CUDA
  • Software only

Choose CUDA and go to town.

  • How to upgrade the graphics card (gtx 770 or 980) on Mac Pro 3.1 (2008)?

    Hey,.

I am looking to update my graphics card on my Mac Pro 3.1 - I currently have a GTX 660ti but I was looking to upgrade to a GTX 770 or, if possible GTX980.

    I have a few questions (GTX 770):

    • Power required: I found a tutorial , but I'm still not sure if the GTX 770 will draw too much power from the PSU?  The TDU is 230w and there are a lot of online chat on do not go above 225w.  I also noticed that my mac pro 3.1 is about 980w - so I'm confused as to why the limit of 225w has been mentioned (something to do with the power being driven by pci slots?)
    • Wiring: The gtx 770 has 1 x 6 pin and 1 x 8-pin connectors.  What/how should I connect to these terminals?  The tutorial mentions buying a Y 2 x 6-pin connector.  Is anyone able to confirm this?
    • Experience: Are confirmed cases of the GTX 770 works on a mac pro 3.1?

Finally - I wonder about a 770GTX since I.  What is the best card (for games) that confirmed cases of work with the 2008 3.1 mac pro?

Any help is appreciated and thanks in advance.

The location PCle supplies 75 watts max. Each of the two connectors on the system board each supply 75 watts max.

So, you can get 225 watts which for me is pretty close to 230 watts.

Others have successfully used the 770

  • Mac Pro power whirring noise

I have a mac pro 2.1 with a Radeon mac-flashed 7970, witch makes a fairly strong and annoying hum noise. It sounds like a fan bearing or a blade fan of friction or something.

Initially, I suspected the fan on the graphics card, as the noise got worse when I put the graphics card under load. But stop fans with my finger for a second did not stop the noise.

I checked all the other fans in the system by turning their speed one by one using a control application third fan, but that doesn't seem to cause noise. When the system was not under tension, speed fans only sounded like a plane taking off, no strange whirring / clicking noises.

I also followed him Nadim fan when running the reference of sky charts, and none of the fans seems to speed up the noise at startup.

The noise seems to come from the power supply area. I stick my finger in this fan aswel, but that also did not stop the noise.

My graphics card is put a lot of stress on the power supply? (seems unlikely, there is not much else in the system.) 128 SSD samsung, and 16 GB of memory, without HARD drives or optical drives.)

Or maybe just a case of whining reel? I never heard talking about the cases where it is is bad. Sound clearly audible with the mac pro onder my office with the closed side panel. It's about as strong as the average of a mechanical hard drive.

Someone at - it suggestions on what it might be? Anny information is appreciated!

    UPDATE:

I've did some more research and tests today, and now I don't know if it's the POWER supply. Further examination, the noise seems to come from the graphics card rather than feeding.

However, I got the mac pro crash on me earlier and seemed to associate PSU.

When I tried to run the benchmark in the Valley of launchpad, the mac pro froze for a second about, and then both screens of. Fans and LEDS have remained, and pressing the button did not stop instantly the mac of. After pressing the SPACEBAR and mouse movement a little I tried the button of power again and this time he did close some instantly. After reboot I met the gray screen telling me my computer restarted because of a problem, and I had to almost any key to start.

Later, I tried to run the benchmark of sky without the installed card via screen sharing, but that did not work. I did trie with another card installed, but who also refused to run the reference point. If unfortunately I have no way to ensure the sound comes from the GUP or POWER supply right now.

I think that there is still an old mac pro at work that I might be able to test the card Friday, maybe wil give me some guidance on the issue of whether this is in fact my GPU. And if not, I might be able to take the power supply of the mac pro at work and test it in my mac pro.

But I'm stil torn on the weather to suspect my GPU or PSU. the accident that I got today sounds PSU related to me, but the noise seems to come from the GPU. Anyone have any ideas?

Is BTW, there a convenient way to analyse my Mac Pro for a few bad things, such as virus or some files as the file mentioned earlier cover? These files are located by "doctor of BREW $".

OS X does NOT ALL files in the tree/usr/local.  Nothing.  Nada.  Zilch!

Homebrew however stores ALL its files in the tree/usr/local.

So, if you have files with a date of 2013, they were probably from Homebrew.  And as you know, the Homebrew doesn't part of Mac OS X.

I do not use the Homebrew, but if I had to guess, he downloaded a precompiled package with built in 2013 and place these files in the tree/usr/local.

In general, it's a bad idea to install a-squared 3rd party packages.  They have caused more problems then they never solved, based on the many reports of panic the kernel, System slowness and reports missing disappeared in these forums.  Contributors to the forum a long time does not.

OS X includes its own protections.  Please, start by reading the following:

I have nothing against the homebrew, but if you are going to use it to install the packages open-source, you should have an understanding of what it does and where it stores its files.

Also note: most open source packages you download and compile it yourself, will also install in the tree/usr/local.

Still, I'm guessing the files that concern you came a homebrew package that has been installed, or maybe when you installed homebrew himself.

  • 2009 mac Pro 8 core graphics upgrade advice

Hi everyone, my Mac Pro crashed recently and wiped out the SSD drive and 8800gt graphic card in the process. I have since replaced the SSD but you want to replace the graphics card also. Can anyone recommend some links to maps of upgrade appropriate that work with this machine you?

Take a look at macvidcards, they have a wide variety of graphics cards from amd and nvidia, from low cost to high power.

In general, every current video card should work in your mac, but the 'pure windows versions' do not show an image until osx is fully charged and drivers are loaded.

Versions of macvidcard are flashed so can show splash screens. Not normally necessary, but when that mind in the process of starting or when you need bootcamp boot selection screen, you will see the value of the additional monetary you spent for the funniest versions.

I got my 980ti to them.

  • end of 2013 Mac Pro self begins with red light under DIMM 3

My end of 2013 "trash" Mac Pro has an intermittent problem on start up - this can take up to 8 auto restarts before it starts to fully operational status. During these reboots red lights are visible through the base, in the area of the 3 & 4 DIMM slots. This happens in about 3-4 times when the Mac Pro is started first thing in the morning. Sometimes - but rarely - it will also restart after a period of normal operation.

Run diagnostics and, before one of the operations described below, this indicates that all was well but the 2 just many times where I ran diagnosis, he pointed out that no WiFi interface has been installed. Have also run Memtest that since several days of testing, running as a single user with multiple passes, says memory all OK.

Have tried resetting the SMC both NVRAM and update of the OS. Removed and reinstall the RAM modules. After the reinstallation of modules, first start only registered DIMM 1 & 2 modules. There seems to be no problem with the seating, nothing loose or place and taken liberation were entirely home. Next and all subsequent boots saved all 4 modules.

A day of immediate bootups without problem but then, first thing this morning, had two cottages restarts during startup. I gave the 2nd boot press / press and hold the 'on' then booted diagnosis - no problem not indicated. On the startup resulting, everything was fine.

I guess the problem is in, either the GPU or with 3 & 4 DIMM slots. Can someone tell me the meaning of red lights? Diagnosis would be easier if I knew.

    Hello Bob,

Thank you for using communities of Apple Support.

I see that you have found a red flashing in the 3 & 4 DIMM slots. Typically, this indicates a bad RAM module or the module is not seated properly. I see you have already done the troubleshooting that I would have recommended. So, unless you have third-party RAM installed in your Mac Pro, I suggest you take a look at the following link to access the service options for your computer.

After installing a new Nvidia (EVGA) 970 GTX graphics card in my MAC Pro system, Illustrator crashes all the time (random, always on "save under", sometimes on opening the files). in a cheese grater old mac pro as you and it is a festival of crash in .ai and I would be interested to know if you are also experiencing photoshop bail out completely if you try 'resize' an image?

I tried several other drivers of web that improved things but always authorized random crashes,

    so...

the only solution that I found (and that's a total of "fix" as abel to get one with some work again finally!) is to disable the gpu acceleration in preferences (not only temporarily using the rocket button or the Preview on CPU option in the menu (, but a STOP appropriate in the Preferences section, same "fix" has been used in Pshop to make it usable as.))

I was worried that it would mean a totally unnecessary 'upgrade', but coming from a 1 GB card, everything seems still to be a lot better and faster despite disabling the GPU acceleration, perhaps simply because the operating system and all other open applications (not adobe) are able to use the GPU at least partially? and which allows a little more resources elsewhere. Anyway, this isn't a total waste, and I can now work on files that have been previously direction buy me a new imac instead of the mac pro upgrade one last time... (which turns out to be a blessing, because it seems to imac users have problems too).

the 'upgrade' was essentially a downgrade effect for me in the aftermath, as even though it have 4 x the power of the previous card, Adobe have totally ruined the options found in the application, which means that what was once a system (even with 1 GB) which was capable of an overview of the 'real time' virtually no matter what if you waited so that it runs through a reading of frame by frame 'green line '. , has now turned into an application that can only run previews in real time by jumping the executives, it's a joke...

hope get you it sorted, and I hope that nvidia will give us more options driver soon?

or adobe could remedy the situation! Ha ha, that's a good joke to put end to now I think...

I installed my Mac Pro 5.1 to Yosemite 10.10.1. Since I was the new graphics card Nvidia GTX 970, I also upgraded web of Nvidia drivers and driver CUDA (6.5.25). Unfortunately, I see that, although I can open applications first Pro CC and CC 2014, as soon as I open a saved project the application crashes. If I create a new project, as soon as I import any video, the application crashes. I tried the previous driver of CUDA (6.5.18).

Finally worked on a solution. I opened the first, launched a fictitious project, and before that I imported all media, I went into the project settings changed to Mercury Playback Engine Acceleration (CUDA) GPU rendering engine. That's it - now everything works as it is supposed to. Reading is butter-smooth, and GPU acceleration transitions render in real time.
