GTX 970 only 3.5 VRAM only

Found this link from nvidia on the new gtx 970 series. Anyone know the related issues of PP, AE or same Speedgrade. Which is perhaps a speed grade causing problem running out of memory in the case of dynamic link?

http://blogs.nvidia.com/blog/2015/02/24/GTX-970/

people get the dynamic link off error memory with other than the 970 gtx graphics cards. its a bug to adobe, one of the many many bugs in their software right now... that's what happens when characteristics > stability is chosen.

the 970 gtx can use all 4 GB, it's just segmented to 3.5-0.5. It will only slow its performance when you access others the .5gb, not that he can't. in theory, it would slow down any application that uses more than 3.5 GB of memory on the gpu.

  • XPS 8910, bi-ecrans, Nvidia GTX 970?

I just got a new 8910 XPS, well. But the video card (Nvidia GeForce GTX 970) only on the card, DVI - D video output. I want to connect a second monitor, DVI - D or VGA input. There are a lot of other jacks on the rear panel, several HDMI, DP (DisplayPort). Are all the HDMI outputs and the DP for a second monitor?

There is only a single HDMI output port on the back of the chassis, #4. #3 is the DP (DisplayPort) aboard.

Because there is not a "Multi screen" option in the Bios. This means that if a video card is added (GeForce GTX 970), cannot use the embedded outside DP or HDMI ports for monitors.

You must attach two monitors to the GeForce GTX 970 addition.

The Dell OEM GeForce GTX 970 has the following video ports =
    DVI - I
    DP
    DP
    DP
    HDMI 2.0

So if #2 monitor has only DVI and VGA ports, you will need to connect to the HDMI port on the GeForce GTX 970.

GeForce GTX 970 DVI - I-->--> #1 monitor DVI DVI to DVI cable to
GeForce GTX 970 out HDMI--> HDMI to DVI cable--> #2 monitor DVI in

You can buy the HDMI cable to DVI at Wal-Mart, Best Buy, etc.

  • question VRAM GTX 970

Then GTX 970 still isn't in the list of GPUS supported on Adobe's Web site. I bought one because it was recommended to me in this forum. Now I wonder if all this 3.5 GB of VRAM question which is all the more the news will affect rendering in After Effects, including 3-d v2 element?

Can I get a refund for my 970 and get an ATI place card?

    You are good and evil.

In this sense the 970 uses a paging memory structure where the first 3.5 MB of VRAM is used at full speed, but when the full 4 MB of memory is required, the last 0.5 MB slows down a bit. The 980 does not suffer from this architectural choice.

Wrong in the sense that this memory address choice nVidia has absolutely no impact in AE, since EI does not use the video card in this way.

In very rare situations, when the 4 edition + K material and the use of complex timelines, PR may suffer a little in terms of performance ONLY when more than 3.5 MB of memory is used. This drop in performance is very small and far better on for example the 780Ti with only 3 MB of memory, since in those very rare occasions, the 780Ti is automatically disabled completely, passage of the MPE hardware to software MPE, making the performance hit much more important. This happens when there are more than 3 MB.

Look at the situations described below:

    • AE: the video card is not relevant.
    • PR: memory used 3 MB >-the 780Ti is completely off. Very severe performance drop.
    • PR: memory used<= 3.5="" mb="" --="" the="" 970="" runs="" at="" full="">
    • PR: > 3.5 MB used memory - the 970 is a small performance when you use the last 0.5 MB.

    I installed this... >

in a cheese grater old mac pro as you and it is a festival of crash in .ai and I would be interested to know if you are also experiencing photoshop bail out completely if you try 'resize' an image?

I tried several other drivers of web that improved things but always authorized random crashes,

    so...

the only solution that I found (and that's a total of "fix" as abel to get one with some work again finally!) is to disable the gpu acceleration in preferences (not only temporarily using the rocket button or the Preview on CPU option in the menu (, but a STOP appropriate in the Preferences section, same "fix" has been used in Pshop to make it usable as.))

I was worried that it would mean a totally unnecessary 'upgrade', but coming from a 1 GB card, everything seems still to be a lot better and faster despite disabling the GPU acceleration, perhaps simply because the operating system and all other open applications (not adobe) are able to use the GPU at least partially? and which allows a little more resources elsewhere. Anyway, this isn't a total waste, and I can now work on files that have been previously direction buy me a new imac instead of the mac pro upgrade one last time... (which turns out to be a blessing, because it seems to imac users have problems too).

the 'upgrade' was essentially a downgrade effect for me in the aftermath, as even though it have 4 x the power of the previous card, Adobe have totally ruined the options found in the application, which means that what was once a system (even with 1 GB) which was capable of an overview of the 'real time' virtually no matter what if you waited so that it runs through a reading of frame by frame 'green line '. , has now turned into an application that can only run previews in real time by jumping the executives, it's a joke...

hope get you it sorted, and I hope that nvidia will give us more options driver soon?

or adobe could remedy the situation! Ha ha, that's a good joke to put end to now I think...

  • GPU-GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 970 for Adobe Premiere Pro CC (2015)? Yes or no?!

GPU-GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 970 for Adobe Premiere Pro CC (2015)? Yes or no?!

Hello. I would buy GIGABYTE GPU GeForce GTX 970 4 GB but I can't find the map on the website of Adobe system requirements. What GPU will work for Adobe Premiere Pro CC (2015)? Is activated GPU acceleration? Thanks a lot for your reply and advice in advance. Martin

They tend to cards list itself more, as they did... so they list the requirements for cards that work with the programs. Who are a minimum of 1 GB of vRAM and a few other things. As the production of internal software of the card, which is like a '3.0' or whatever and all 900-series cards are way beyond that... so with a 4 GB of vRAM card, the other issue is the number of cores CUDA has?

Current recommendations are to stay above 1 000 CUDA cores... .and most 970, I've seen are listed with hearts CUDA along 1600... so it should be good. I myself use a 970 GTX w4GB vRAM. Now... a good GPU does not in itself and make an editing machine who shouts, as only certain things go by the GPU in PrPro in any case. A bad can certainly slow things, however.

upgrade my gpu gtx 970 and cpu change

Here is the computer Service and Maintenance Guide .  If you start on Page 31 and read the pages that follow, there is information about the processors compatible with the motherboard.

In regards to the 970 GTX, if your motherboard has UEFI it should work.  However, you will need to upgrade the power supply (PSU), also.  The current PSU is only 300W.  It is not enough to feed the GTX 970.  You will need to go to the manufacturer's Web site to get the specifications of the card.  I think you want to upgrade to a power supply at least 500W, maybe more.  You need to measure the space for the video card to ensure that there is enough of the card.  I think that they are at least 10 "long.

    Right now I'm really confused!

After reading the return of Best Buy Canada policy [which gives me 14 days to return my purchased GPU]. I decided to go against the advice I got from this thread and another HP forum.

I bought the Zotac GTX 970 at Best Buy, thinking it could be a very small chance that it will work, and if it does not work I have he's coming back!

To my surprise after installing it, it started no problem! I installed the latest drivers from the website of Zotac and then rebooted the system, but still no problems!

I ran all the points of reference 3-DMark, more than twice with no problems! [which is about 7 times faster than my ATI hd5770]

    Here are my results: http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/6457066

I played a few minutes with the deity: sin of origin with ultra graphics to 80 FPS and still no problem!

I also played a few minutes with supreme commander2 [game 2010 year] at 60 FPS and still no problem!

I close on my computer about ten times, just to make sure that the system is stable and still no problems!

Here are two pictures of my information system showing that I run the version of the BIOS HP 6 and the GTX 970!

I only used it for two days and I hope I won't run into problems in the future!

So my advice is to check your store for their return policy and try again the GTX 970 yourself! Don't let not the other experiences of volunteers/users HP form this discourage you from trying it!

  • Problems: upgrade cars - msi Geforce GTX 970 graphics

I recently bought a Geforce GTX 970 of msi graphics card.

The problem is that my pc will not go through the HP-splash screen that opens before the windows splash screen.

My electricity supplier has enough power enough.

    Help me please!

HP motherboards support even msi graphics cards?

If this is not the case, what companies do support?

    Hello

Your PC was shipped only with a version 7 of HP BIOS so the NVIDIA 970 isn't going to work. There is no provision in a BIOS version 7 to deactivate or activate the secure boot or activate the UEFI.  You would see these selections on the Security tab in the BIOS if there is this selection.

Try one of these models NVIDIA GTX 660.  You only need a power supply of 450 watts.

  • AG3 605 UR1D GTX 970

I recently bought the 4 GB Zotac GTX 970 version.

I own the 605-UR1D, with a power of 500w. However, it is said 484 max on feeding. I was running the graphics card very well, until I checked the tempature. Initially, the tempature of graphics card went up only - it reached a maximum of 90 degrees centigrade if I remember.

After a few minutes, the processor and card mother MeltMC began rapidly rising. It was 68 degrees centigrade - he could high, but I don't remember.

I heard that it is generally OK for most computers to perform at these MeltMC, but I'm not sure on the 605-UR1D

If I can get help before I decide to return in the coming days, would be great.

The air must be pushed outside the case.

  • Alienware X 51 R2 - what Miss me to upgrade to GTX 970 FTW

    Hello

I have gtx GPU 745 and I received a new GPU, the gtx 970 FTW with fan double. We read different forums and sometimes with contradicting information and I must say that I am a little lost in how to change.

    Our main questions are:

    (1) the power R2 board optimized for this dual fan gtx 970 or should I expect to observe problems due to high temperature in the case? We have seen that it seems to be a technical problem with the 970 like gtx with the double sending hot air fan inside the case compared to the fan only. Replacement is not an option, so I'd like t understand the penalty for having the double fan.

    (2) with respect to the power supply. At this moment we have a 240W. Just switch to 330w? We have seen some forums saying that it should require less energy and 330w should be fine, but when you are looking for the GPU to places to buy it is said that it takes min 500w. So I am confused.

    (3) for the records, we went just to 10 WINDOWS

Is there something else I'm missing? What should be the final configuration?

    Thank you in advance.

    Hello

It has not validated the Nvidia GTX 970 as an option for GPU upgrade to R2 of Alienware X 51 system. As a result, we cannot ensure that this GPU upgrade will work properly with the system. However, some of our customers have tried this upgrade successfully. Click here to see another thread for more information on this upgrade.

  • HO w do activate the acceleration GPUS for GTX 970 with CS6?

    Hello

Today, I did a fresh install of prem pro CS6, but it doesn't appear to detect the card GTX 970 I installed last month because it is showing 'software only' in the area of reading in the project settings.  I was running CS5.03 before and after the addition of the type of card in the txt cuda_supported_cards file, it ran very well. (still does)

Ive changed the same text file in CS6, but it will be only in software mode playback only. I restarted prem and the system but still the same.

Any ideas? Ive installed the latest Nvidia driver also last week. With CS5.03 still on the system cause problems? (I still have the card Matrox RTx.2 installed also for CS5.03) which is a problem?

System: win 7 64 bit. 28 GB of RAM; Xeon 2 x 2.66; First pro CS6. Card MSI Geforce GTX 970 (running in standard mode)

    Thank you very much

    Hi Ann

I tried your suggestion, but option was always grayed out.

However, I saw in another post, a suggestion to delete the cards taken in charge of cuda in any txt file so I tried it and it now works perfectly!

    Thank you very much.

Because I don't want to buy a card that only will NOT WORK AT ALL with my CC 2014!

Now the 900 series cards are tested very well with the MPE engine and acceleration of time. I have not seen any limitation, including the effects. So I don't know where people are facing problems. Acceleration of EI is Raytracer and on track. Do not expect in the Nvidia drivers to maintain the AE version has even and I would be surprised if the new maps to work with it since Adobe is emerging. Very little use at this stage and C4D with octane is much better especially for GPU acceleration.
