GTX Titan - 12% improvement?

OK, I am one of those stupid early adopters who has more money than brains - and today was one of those days. I have a NVidia GTX Titan. I had one this afternoon and ran a quick test with a recent 3 min 57 s video I did earlier this week. It was nothing fancy: 1080 p, 30 fps, 8 graphics layers (2 animated background and the 1 movie with green screen images). It was created to try to take advantage of the GPU. It was just a typical video I produce every day.

Here is my system:

CPU: I7 - 3930 (4.4 ghz) K

GPU: Asus GTX 680 in stock

RAM: 64 gig (1866 mhz)

C: drive: meg 240 Intel 520

Source drive: 2 x 240 GB Intel 520 (RAID 0)

Concert of destination drive 2 x 240 Intel 520 (RAID 0)

Today update: ASUS GTX Titan

Here are my results:

-Rendering to H.264 (HD 1080 p, 30 fps) format was exactly the same time. There was no improvement. The sec 237. video took 170 seconds to display with two GPUS.

-Record in MPEG2 (HDTV 1080 p, 30 fps) was faster. Not a lot, but around 12%. Which would be normally seconds 96 had 84.

But given that this test has been done using the stopwatch on my iPhone, you could add or deduct a few seconds so be it. I will repeat the test PPBM5 later tonight or tomorrow in the day. We'll see if I score better than before.

Thank you. I am very happy with the results too. But I'm curious to know why the score MPEG2-DVD could be improved but not H.264. Do you have an explanation?

  • HP Z420 with Nvidia Gtx Titan

    Hello

I considered buying a Z420, and I intend to use maps of Titan since I rendered by GPU, as well as the CAD uses and in real time. (Autocad, Revit and 3d Max). I've used a Quadro 4000 card, but it is certainly not useful for real time rendering.

So in my case, a map of Titan is more advantageous. But today, I realized this of Nvidia Geforce series only is not supported for HP workstations. So, what should I do? Is there a way to use Titan with Z420? Should I look for another computer?

    Thanks in advance...

GTX Titan uses the 250W peak power and NVidia said a 600W PSU enough Z420 has a 600W PSU. So unless you have something else really your Z420 (such as five 15 K disks without spin shifted upwards) - the lust for power, you should be fine.

Personally, I have not used a Titan in a Z420 (GTX - 680 was the largest map that I installed) - once again - it looks good on paper.

HP will not support it in terms of pilots or guarantee-, but it will take care the rest of the system.

All that being said, a Z820 is a bit better suited to the Titan GTX...

  • Is the Asus GTX Titan a good option for AE/PP

I'm still sitting on the fence.  Fact what I think has been, let's say too many customers and began to look at the GTX Titan in my dreams.  I know, some of you are probably saying: it is where it should stay banned (Preformance / $$$ cost$ $$) = value?  But is it more in the pudding, CUBE features work help the GPU, 3D blah, blah, blah, is useful to this map or should I leave this heavy dog sit on the shelf.  I don't want to SLI right now if I can, but will in time.  Options or stick with the GTX 2 77O as suggested?

Only if you have at least a core highly overclocked hexa with 64 GB and a dedicated large and fast raid array or a dual E5-2687W Xeon with the same array of raid and memory 64 GB with > 800 MB / s transfer rate.

See Page Tweakers - balanced systems and scroll down to the video card table.

If you use CC and two GTX 770, this combination will be faster than a single Titan.

I went to very difficult to leave my boyfriend to buy this pc.  First of all, that we now live in different countries.  I live in the United States and he lives in England.  We met on a PS3 game online called DUST 514 and played a lot of pc games together as well.  It is difficult to have to steal it back, but we're getting married soon and I'll come to England.  He needs a new PC for years and was jealous of my Alienware Aurora R4. So I decided to buy one that is still better than mine since it's even greater player I am . This will also allow us to play more games together .

Then I he wired the money and thought that everything would be ok, but you wouldn't believe the amount of screw - rises, that Dell threw on him!  They had even cancel a bunch of commands of the peoples, b/c, trying to control his spec-ed on Alienware has revealed a major screw-up affecting many clients... (Sorry, it made me delete/modify-this until his order passes through.  Dell representatives were concerned about what happened past.  I don't know if they told people that they had to cancel the real reason why orders and the possible impact on customers with currently Alienware Aurora...  I'll tell you what they have done after that his order is finally through.  Just a hint... inside your Alienware Aurora, check if you own to make sure that everything you ordered is actually there...)  He tried to do this for a week now...  I thought Dell was a little better than that... I knew they had bad grades, but really?...  In any case, it is a complete system stressed mess of it all back and on phone calls and e-mails with different people of Dell.  So I thought that, if it still manages to get the Alienware, maybe I can do even better!

He really should have an SSD, so I'll get a. He was talking and drool on the maps of Titan, so I'll give him two EVGA NVIDIA GeForce GTX TITAN Superclocked 6 GB GDDR5 2DVI/HDMI/DisplayPort PCI - Express cards in SLI config! : http://pcpartpicker.com/part/evga-video-card-06gp42791kr

I've never built a pc or tinkered with all hardware.  I want to make this even more impressive pc by adding an SSD.  I think I can install an SSD without any problem (I want the Samsung 849 EVO Mz-7TE1T0BW 2.5 "1 TB SSD)... Oops... I just thought of something... 4 TB SATA is actually 4 2 TB SATAs, put in place with 2 as the mirror...  I think that there are only 4 connectors for extension for SSD/HDD... Is this correct?  I have to replace one of the SATAs 2 TB with the 1 TB SSD?  What configuration I would define then the three SATAs 2 TB?  Would it be to say that he would have only 1 TB SATA? Could I set up so that it has SATA 1.5 TB (with SATAs split with half active and part of the half of the mirror for a RAID configuration)?  Furthermore, I have really no idea what RAID is or fact, just that you only half of total storage really active and the second half is as a backup in case of failure of a disk or something to avoid any data loss total... It is also the thing that I'm confused about that I don't know if it is also possible to install two graphics cards of Titan in SLI configuration on the micro ATX motherboard, I guess its Alienware Aurora will be, and still less 1 Titan.  Yes I know it is exaggeration lol, but the game is very important for us, especially since this is how we met.

Sorry for the long post... Finally, the MAIN POINT & QUESTION:

I have to install a different motherboard like the Asus Rampage Black Edition IV: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/asus-motherboard-rampageivblackedition in order to install two Titan GPU in SLI configuration?  If so, how this O_o...?  Also, I heard that there is a 'girl' Council that controls the Alien FX LED lighting and ventilation Active... How to connect to the new motherboard (if I need to get a new one)?  Also if I get the other motherboard (if this motherboard work with everything) this motherboard would have space for 4 x 2 TB RAID 1 + 0 and the 1 TB SSD SATAs?

    Please answer.  Thanks, ~ value

to install two Titan GPU in SLI configuration?

Don't know why you config-ed with two years 780 in SLI if you want two Titan-SLI but this guy did:

    http://en.community.Dell.com/Owners-Club/Alienware/f/3746/p/19512935/20402844.aspx#20402844

Personally, I'd keep just 780 - SLI, since the two configs end up being very similar to the performance. Either they're going run hot (in the game of max.).

  • Titan GTX in after effects & Premiere CS6

GTX Superclocked Titan now running in OS X 10.8.3 using the latest driver NVIDIA's Web (313.01.01f03) and CUDA Driver Version 5.0.59.

I changed both the file "cuda_supported_cards.txt" for Premiere Pro CS6 (6.0.2) and the "raytracer_supported_cards.txt" file for after effects CS 6 (11.0.2) to enter the "GeForce GTX TITAN."

First recognize the card very well and is able to exploit the Titan for it's Mercury Playback Engine Acceleration (CUDA) GPU. However, After Effects reports the following error during startup:

After effects error: drawn in the 3D Department: Initial shader compilation failed (5070: 0)

Mylenium treats the error in detail here:

    http://myleniumerrors.com/2013/01/06/5070-0-3/

Remove the "GeForce GTX TITAN" the file "raytracer_supported_cards.txt" resolves the error message, however, this obviously makes the Titan useless for any acceleration traced to the RADIUS using the Titan.

Any thoughts on why After Effects reports this error (even if the first is likely to enable Cuda with the Titan) and what could be the solution?

One final note, even with the start-up error, After Effects reports successfully Titan GTX under information GPU (see image below)

    GPU_Information.png

The TITAN GTX is added to the list of maps that After Effects will use for accelerating GPU of the raytraced 3D rendering engine in the update for after effects CC (12.1), that comes out.

  • Purchase of a computer

    Hello

I want to buy the computer

HP ENVY Phoenix 810 desktop PC - 170st

but I want this computer with the Titan Gefroce gtx graphics card.

    Is this possible?

The configurable options when buying are in the following image. If you want to install a different video card, you will need to buy it separately and either install it yourself or have done in a store. The GeForce GTX Titan is quite a beast. Personally, I'd go with a GeForce GTX 690 or a NVIDIA Radeon HD7990. They both exceed the Titan at a lower cost.

  • Z800 upgrade RAM & GPU - HP Performance Advisor WARNING

    Hello guys,.

I would appreciate if you can help me with this.

HP Performance advisor, gives me the following warning:

    'Memory '.

Maximum memory performance is achieved with a balanced configuration memory evenly distributed throughout all channels of active memory. When there is more than one DIMM connector per channel, fill the inner layer closest to the CPU before adding memory to an outer layer.

Technical mixed size DIMM - memory is optimized when all the DIMMS in a layer have the same size. »

    I have attached 2 photos.

The first is the current state of the workstation with mixed sizes of RAM 1 GB & 2 GB modules.

I don't want to throw my 2 GB modules. I want to just replace the modules of 1 GB a 4 GB modules,

so the configuration will look like the 2nd picture, I joined.

    Is this feasible?

A second thing is I want to upgrade my GPU.

Currently a Nvidia Quadro 2000 is installed.

I want to replace the GPU with a Nvidia GTX Titan.

What should I take the exam prior to the GPU upgrade?

    Thanks in advance.

The configuration of your memory project (second photo) is OK.  If I read correctly the image, you put 4 GB modules in the black connectors and the 2 GB modules in the white connectors.  This gives a configuration balanced, that is, each channel has the same 2 types of memory, so that you will not get the message memory unbalanced and could even get a performance more.

Make sure that the memory of 2 GB and 4 GB is of the same type, correspondence ECC (or not), registered (or not), and if the chips of memory are x 4 or x 8.  Mixture of different types of memory will not work.

HP does not officially support the nVidia GTX Titan, but it should work with the following precautions:

-It will run at speeds PCIe Gen2, Gen3 not (but this should be fast enough).

-From the picture I've seen of the Titan, he seems to have a 2 x 3 and a 2 x 4 power connector.  The Z800 has 2 power connectors for 2 x 3 for graphics.  A cable adapter to go from 2 x 3 to 2 x 4 is necessary to put the card.

  • Background process untraceable on the event log service

    Hello

    I use a Windows 7 Enterprise system,

    ASUS X 99

    I7-5960 X

    GTX Titan

This is a whole new system.

Recently, the spinning wheel "working in the shadows" near the cursor doesn't disappear. I mean he will start a few seconds after the start and just stay there. It drove me crazy so I had to understand. I spent hours on the internet has tried many things. I have a little shrunken down, but still no solution. Here are some of the things I've done:

    (1) I went to Task Manager. I noticed that there is a constant use of the CPU by about 7% at all times. It is abnormal because idling all my other computers are still 0-1%. I went to the tab process to see what that was doing this. This is when things started to get interesting. There was no process using so much CPU. The system idle process will be 98-99%, but the CPU usage would be even at 7-8%.

    (2) I read on the internet a program called Explorer of progress, so I downloaded to see if it could track down. It's even more bizarre. The process exploring the use of the processor has 1-2%, as it should; While the Task Manager, it was still 7-8%!

    (3) many people suggested that this kind of thing can be linked to an infection by the virus. So I ran scans with Norton trial we had (also in safe mode), nothing. Then, I uninstalled, installed Malwarebytes, scanned and found nothing.

    (4) I checked the driver updates. I also completely uninstalled and reinstalled the graphics and USB drivers. No luck.

    (5) then, I did a clean boot (most of the services have been disabled) and voila! It was fine. So, he had to be linked to one of background services.

    (6) after a long trial and error, I reduced to a single service: Windows event log. The problem would not happen if I disabled this service of msconfig, then rebooted. However, I googled this service and it turns out that it's something quite essential for the operating system and I should not turn it off.

So now, I hit a wall. I have absolutely no idea what to do (I'm considering an update of the BIOS but doubt strongly it would be useful). Before ask you, I don't know what preceded the problem. Many people use this computer and I don't know who started it. A clean installation of Windows is an option, but it would be a large number of deactivation/activation of the software is the last resort.

    I would appreciate help.

I'm on a Mac Pro 2012 with a NVIDIA GeForce GTX TITAN X 12288 MB (macvid cards) running on the latest driver from NVIDIA. Can it be linked to this driver? Or maybe CUDA? FCPX starts fine and does not use Cuda.

    Anyone having the same problems?

Enter OSX 10.10.5 startup disk. that should work well.

    Kind regards
