had to install the new operating system and bookmarks are gone
Hiya. I had problems with the computer and the fix was to install a new operating system (windows 7 it was old, windows 8 is the new). Most of my old files make the switch, but when I downloaded firefox, my favorites have disappeared. I looked in my profile in the menu, but it's the profile that I created today by downloading firefox. Where can I find my old profile? Any help is greatly appreciated! Thank you, Billy
Was this an upgrade of type "on the spot" where your user folder
C:\Users\youroldusername\
was intact, or did you end up with a new user folder? In the case of a new user folder, you will find a folder named
C:\Windows.old\Users\youroldusername\
If so, your Firefox data are probably here - and here's how I suggest to access:
First of all, it would be useful to set windows to display the hidden files and folders. This article has the steps: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/show-hidden-files
Then click in:
Username\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles C:\Windows.old\Users\
Note: there is a cache under AppData\Local folder, but everything important is under AppData\Roaming.
Here you can find one or several folders named random semi. Who has most recently updated content is probably one you want to restore.
This post has my suggested procedure to resurrect these data in your new installation of Firefox. Please note the use of the copy instead of move throughout the process. This allows you to try again if it fails somewhere along the way.

A little luck?
Note that if you really ONLY want to bookmark, copy the last two backups of the old bookmarkbackups folder to a location such as the desktop, see the following article (you will use 'Choose file' in the menu to access these backups): restoring bookmarks from a backup or move them to another computer. Note that this process will replace all new bookmarks that you may have saved since installing Firefox again. If you need to preserve those, first use the export feature: Export Firefox bookmarks to an HTML file for backup or transfer bookmarks.

Hard drive partition and install the new operating system
HY,
If I partition my hard drive and I install a new OS (E.g. Ubuntu 14.04) my warranty ends?
Thank you
SA
Hello
No, it will not void the warranty but HP only supports the problems with the original operating system and prove the operation of the equipment of the original OS.
Do the recovery disks and keep them safe before so that you could go back to factory settings if there is no problem of partitioning.
Recovery partition usually works after partitioning, depends on your luck, but you could make the 'Active' Partition in disk management and try for recovery if it works or not.
Thank you

HP Pavilion 550-055na: new disk will not install the new operating system
Hello
I bought a new HP Pavilion 550 - 055na with Windows 8 a month or two ago but want to use Windows 7. However, I decided that I will keep the hard, the PC came with, and have the option of Windows 8 in future if I want. So, I'm installing Windows 7 on a new hard drive.
My problem is that the new copy of Windows 7 will not install on my new hard drive. I get:
Violation of secure boot
Invalid signature detected. See the policy in the configuration of secure boot
Then me to a black screen after I pressed Enter/Ok, who said the following.
Check the presence of the media...
Media present...
On IPv4 PXE boot.
If I press F12 on power on, I get a blue box asking me to select a boot device. The only options are:
Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller IPv4
Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller IPv6
and the output by using the arrow keys
How to change the secure boot strategy? If I do, it means that I can install my 7 can I on my new hard drive? Also, providing that I do, I always will be able to use my Windows 8 OS drive after changing the secure boot strategy?
Any help would be appreciated to greately.
Sincere greetings
DJ

Is it possible to install the new operating system on a separate external drive?
Currently running XP 32 Bit C: and do not want to lose all that, so I was wondering if it is possible to load 7 64 bit on a different drive (not C :) and select from F2 at startup - any advice much appreciated.)
Cannot install Windows 7 on an external hard drive. You can create a partition in Windows XP, and then install Windows 7 on it.
the first thing you need to do is download Easeus at the following link
EASEUS Partition Master Home Edition - http://download.cnet.com/Easeus-Partition-Manager-Home-Edition/3000-2248_4-10863346.html
------------------------
Proceed with the installation of Easeus:
Click Next, follow the easy on-screen instructions.
Once the installation is finished, click on finish
Click go to the main screen
Select the drive you want to resize in partition window
Drag the button until you have an amount of disk space to install Windows 7 you want, and then release.
Click on apply to apply the changes that you just made.
Click Yes
Click Yes
Your computer will restart several times and changes will be made to the layout of the partition, this process is hands-free, so no interaction is required.

When the option is displayed to select a type of installation, click (Custom advanced)Select the disk partition where you want to install Windows 7 click Next. (remember, it is the partition that you created previously in Windows XP.

Info on the device
T-Mobile 9700
V5.0.0.586
So as others waited until what tmobile had an official release for the new OS, I used before the stock 5.0 OS. I did not read about the new operating system and mines unwisely update. My problem is that the left upper button convience asks for a password when I lock it, from what I read the only way to block it and password prompt on unlock is ALT + ENTER.
I was wondering if someone had resolutions, I love my 9700 and this problem upsets me just, I just don't see me lock the phone with alt + enter. I have even try and downgrade the OS, if someone could tell me how.
Thank you guys.
Everything I read is that blackberry has released the password locking and his return do not, if you open the Desktop Manager and have the phone hung, if you press the button update, in that you having the option it downgrade to the old operating system that you are running, at least I did on mine

Have a Dell system, caught a virus and it has really messed up the PC. Recently, it got worse so I tried to reinstall the operating system with the Dell disks. It wouldn't work. So I bought for Windows 7 Professional, it will not be installed. My first question when installing a new operating system isn't automatically wipe the hard disk, create a new partition, and then install the operating system? Because this does the same as the Dell disks, is to take what is on the hard drive and put it in a folder called windows old, is not formatting the HD. When I boot the disk, it shows the installation of files then open windows and start the installation. Before he could finish I get an error missing or corrupted files. Tried several times now, windows will still not open. Any suggestions? Once while trying to install the pc crashed with a blue screen which is one of the reasons why I have reinstall the OS, he started to plant a few times. I don't remember all the details on my PC, but its 4 years, triple core coprocessors, ram 8 GB, 500 GB HD. At the same time just after all this started in Jan. I had also improved my 3 GB to 8 GB memory. I bought the Dell memory for my system. Since the crash, could there be a problem with these new memory chips? Last night I tried to disassemble each and reinstalling it, but that doesn't seem to make a difference. Before I tried to reinstall the operating system, the pc was see the concert 8.

If I buy windows 8 (any OS windows) now and install in my computer and after a year when I change my computer, can I install the SAME operating system in the new computer?
You can if you buy a commercial box full of Windows 8 version.
If you buy a computer with Windows preinstalled, or a version OEM of Windows 8, 8 No, you can't.
If you buy a version upgrade, you can, as long as the new computer has a licensed version earlier of Windows on them.

Currently have v.8 CS Photoshop and Lightroom 2 v.2.4. In order just to work with the new operating system, please inform for updating both.
Hi R0w1% 40nd,
Adobe Photoshop CS v.8 and Lightroom 2 v.2.4. are very old software and the operating system you are using is the most recent, so there may be compatibility issues that adobe has not tested these applications on newer operating systems.
The installer for Adobe Photoshop CS v.8 and Lightroom 2 v.2.4. are no longer available.

I upgraded my computer, adding a second hard disk for a new operating system and kept the old drive as a data disc. I assumed that I could install Firefox on the new disk and import my favorites from the old installation of Mozilla on the old disk. I can't find the files on the old drive with my favorites. They're still here, or when I reinstalled Firefox, I lost everything even if it was on another drive? I can't find the backup on the old disk files and want to restore my old favorites. Is it possible to do this?
You must find your profile folder in the old drive, the way in which must be:
- First display the hidden files and folders:

- Enter in your profile, and then enter the folder bookmarkbackups .
- Copy the latest file from json (backup of bookmarks)
- Then restore from them:
