HARD drive external - Inspiron 1100

If my Inspiron 1100 can only handle drives ATA parallels only (not SATA) and is limited to 120 GB drives, is only for internal drives? No matter what the player is when it is used as an external drive connected via USB?

Thanks for your help.

    Hi all

I have a 3.5/250 GB Toshiba hard drive external. I use Windows XP as my operating system and for some reason, my PC stopped recognizing saying 'USB not recognized '.
It is supposed to be taken & play and I'm sure that I didn't have a driver, when I installed it.
If anyone can help or has any suggestions, I would be grateful.

    Thank you

    Hallo Malc

It is possible that you have removed the external device without using the option remove the device safely. Restart the machine and try again.

Otherwise, you can remove all ports USB device manager and start option to add material on the list. After detection and installation it should work again.

  • HARD drive external (E :) hangs and then said: "Not responding" when trying to backup.)

Original title: backup on an external hard drive

I'm trying to back up my files on an "External" hard drive It's me E: drive as the location, but it just hangs up there says "not responding". I tried to do an "Archive" in the "My Documents" folder, I saw files transfer, however all my names of my files are now blue in 'My documents' whatever that means? What drive letter should go a hard drive 'external '? I should be able to click on that drive and see what is on my external hard drive, but it doesn't "not responding"...

External drive (E :) will not name until you give him one.  It is possible that the disk has not been formatted yet.

Open disk management (start > run > diskmgmt.msc > OK).
You will see something like this:

You will have a line for 'Disk 2' but which shows next to your "disc 1". Please provide ALL information in the "Disk 1" line.

For example, if you had the image above, the response from you I'm looking for would be:

    Disc 1 - Basic - 186,31 GB - online
    Ghost images (D :) - 93,13 GB NTFS - healthy (active))
    Data backup (E :) - 50,57 Go NTFS - healthy)
    42.61 GB - not assigned

  • Transfer Media Player on a hard drive external?

I run XP and bought an external hard drive to my music collection.  Is it possible to transfer the Media Player itself on the hard drive external?  I'd rather play on Media Player on those of the drive, that there is none.  Choose a record and that's all that you can play at the same time; No shuffle or several artists in one sitting.

    Any suggestions, anyone?

There is no need to transfer WMP itself hard disk external, WMP can perfectly handle music on other players.

In WMP, please press F3 to display add it to the library, make sure that Advanced Options are displayed and add the folder music on the external hard drive in the list. Now, all the music on the hard drive will be added to the WMP library.

  • Second hard drive Dell Inspiron 3847

Can someone direct me for information on the installation of a second hard drive for Inspiron 3847 computer for the purpose of the image upwards using the Acronis True Image Home software upward? There is room for an optical drive, which is totally alien to me, but nothing is said nowhere in the hardware in the user manual on the addition of second hard drive that seems to be a pretty normal material adding. No sense in this matter. First time forum thank you poster

    toplap

Dell has not released the procedures to install an additional SATA hard drive, the Inspiron 3847 has a 3.5 Bay ", one for the second hard drive next to the main hard drive, there should be a set of rails located in the Bay, two 6-32 X 1/4, Phillips head screws are required to secure the Rails.

Procedures on pages 26 to 28 of the owners manual should give you an idea of what is required for installation.

    http://FTP.Dell.com/manuals/all-products/esuprt_desktop/esuprt_inspiron_desktop/Inspiron-3847-desktop_Owner%27s%20Manual_en-us.PDF

You will need a SATA data cable, there should be a spare connector to SATA power inside the housing.

After you have installed the drive, enter the system setup and make sure the hard drive is "on" [We] and recognized.

For Windows to recognize the second hard drive, it must be partitioned and formatted.

Go to control panel, administrative tools, computer management, storage, disk management, right click on the new drive, select format, then you can assign a drive letter.

  • Add SimpleDrive external hard drive for Inspiron 9400

I use a drive external 250G hard SimpleTech SimpleDrive. I had plugged in a Dimension desktop computer and it works fine. I am abandoning the office and try to connect the external hard drive to my laptop Inspiron 9400. When I connect the drive via a usb cable, the disc sounds as if it's hunting and is never recognized by the laptop.  The external hard drive has its power supply on so I won't try to power it through the usb port. Any suggestions?

  • Finder or by default in the view extended folder on hard drive external

I'm trying to understand why, when I open an external window of Finder on my hard drive, it always expands to display a specific folder I used months ago. I do not know Finder using the default views and I can't determine how to reset back to the view of the root of the drive.

    Thank you.

    Hi leftysrevenge!

I can certainly understand not wanting the Finder of an external drive window to keep opening to a folder that has been used months ago because I wouldn't mine to display that way either.  No worries, there are a few steps here to get the default view has changed on this issue.  Follow these steps here and he should be able to be changed for this external drive:

Open the Finder, click Display > Display Options > a window will appear to select your display preferences, make your selection here > and if possible use the button "Use as default" to maintain this point of view.

The "Use as Defaults" button may be grey, if the format of the external drive is not OS X Extended.

    Enjoy your day!

  • Move the copy of pictures on hard drive external

I am on an iMac plus old (2008), El Capitan running and I want to copy all my pictures and videos in Photos on an external hard drive just in case of death of my office.  Can I do that and still keep my library of photos on my Mac and use it as usual? If so, how do I?

    Thank you

First, make sure that the drive is formatted as shown in this screenshot:

Then just drag the module external library of Photos of your folder on the hard drive and let the Finder copy it.

Do you have a backup in place strategy?  If this isn't the case, you should, because at some point, you will lose the files of your boot drive either by accident or in a car accident.  It's inevitable.  Easier to implement backup system is with Time Machine, which comes with every Mac.  Here's how to set up: use Time Machine to back up or restore your Mac - Apple Support

With a backup like Time Machine, incremental backups on every hour, you will always have a current backup of your important files and libraries available.

  • You can download additional content on a hard drive external?

I have Logic Pro X 10.0.0 and I want to download any additional content. Unfortunately, I don't have enough space on my laptop. Is there a way to download additional content on an external hard drive?

You can do this only if you install the full application of Logic Pro X hard disk external. You need to either get the entire program on your MacBook or your external storage device.

  • Transfer of pictures to a hard drive external

What should I: 1) 13-inch aluminum end 2008 MAC 2) WD - My passport for MAC external hard drive

Goal: Move my photos from my MAC to the external hard drive. Since I was 20K photos on my MAC, I think this place free (once I double, triple check everything works and then delete the photos on my MAC) on my MAC, improving performance.

Given that the HD is already set up for a MAC, just do the HD MAC, drag the photo from the HD folder and let it do its thing?

    Thanks - Rob

You drag it there, launch iPhoto, Aperture, or Photos with down option, click on another library for Photos, choose and keep a copy of it on an external drive then.

    BIOS version 1.50

I find this HARD disk, it'll work?

    Hello

Satellite Pro M10 certainly has USB 2.0 ports, firewire, and IrDA interface. The operating system uses a standard USB Windows driver.
I put t see any problems with the use of the external USB HDD.
    It should work.
But in my opinion, you should buy an external USB HDD that supports an IrDA interface. It s much faster as a USB connection.

However, the operating system must be able to handle the 250 GB external HARD drive

  • Support MacBook Pro OS 10.7.5 using Time Machine on hard drive external & Clean install on new SSD capital El

I ordered a new SSD to upgrade my 2011 MacBook Pro that runs on OS 10.7.5. I would like to install own El Capitan on the new SSD. Can I save my current hard drive using Time Machine and an external hard drive and then re - download my old stuff in the new SSD? Is this possible at all?

Basically, I want the new SSD to be as clean as possible. Obviously, I would only the files and applications on my computer current to be transferred. I would be grateful and recommendations on the best way to do this. Thank you.

Look at these links for orientation:

I would format the new SSD in Mac OS extended (journaled), personally Run Time Machine to install your data and then install El Capitan.  In the end, it's your decision.

  • Satellite P100-160i - save on HARD drive external

Can someone tell me how to save all my laptop that is to say all programs and all on an external hard drive please?

Install Norton ghost Image and create your own recovery image. You can save it on an external device. If you have problems you can use it to get your configured again operating system later.

I do this almost 3 years and my recovery image is recorded on the second partition.
