Hard drive Lenovo

My Lenovo W500 has been pre-installed with Windows XP, but I decided that I wanted to try Vista 64 Ultimate, before I made the choice to see what OS I was going to use. I used a 5200 Hitachi 160 GB spinning hard drive to install Vista 64, so I wouldn't overwrite the original hard drive comes with the PC. I decided I like the 64 so I'll put up on the original with the 7200 spin hard drive, but wanted to know what things I need to save before making the switch. I have grapped most of the dirs APP from the reader and makes the recovery DVDs. Is there anything else I need to do before I blow the drive?

you say theat you did the recovery and backep dvd data go ahead and install vista... but make sure that your system gets all the required 64-bit drivers

I replaced the DVD with a case of SATA Caddy for 2.5 hard disks.

Everything works correctly, the bios detects the second hard drive. I install Windows 7 without any problem

BUT when I use WINDOWS 7 I DETECT a SERIOUS PROBLEM:

The system with two hard drives, the first is an SSD (Crucial M4) and the second a 7200 RPM hard drive (original disc), do not restart or turn off. I have try several combinations of BIOS and original windows 7 drivers also last Intel 7 Series driver SATA.

    Nothing works!

The partial solution I found is to switch off the second drive hard through hotswap safely turn off, extract the drive hard and after that when I select Restart or shut down, the system takes a few seconds additional and work.

In my view, that it is a BIOS issue becuse this problem happened with the original Windows SATA driver and also with the latest 7 series Intel Chipset drivers. I try with the legacy of Partition BIOS MBR and Partition GPT of UEFI, in both cases the same problem.

When I unplug the power supply cable to turn off the laptop, sometimes Don t pc detects the SSD with error detection, so I BIOS fast change detection and the laptop detects the SSD.

Please check this problem inside the laptop BIOS

I have my E430 an Intel SSD of 330 in the HARD drive Bay and the original 500 GB HDD in a HARD drive caddy, I bought on ebay. I installed a fresh Win7 Pro on the SSD (under the Legacy BIOS option) and reinstalled Win7 HP on the HARD drive (under the UEFI BIOS option). I have no problems starting and stopping on the part of readers. The only problem I've noticed is that when stopping down, HARD drive sometimes of parks the heads with a loud noise (as if suddenly).

  • suspect the hard drive died, solutions?

My 3000N200 0769 AUU now has a problem starting after I closed the lid for quick access and it will not start by using safe mode. I'm guessing that the hard disk is dead.

Sometimes it will start on Windows XP startup, then it restarts, usually it goes into safe mode.  I can get the splash of Lenovo asking to select it using Lenovo.  But who doesn't either.

I inserted a disc of free software alternatives sata hard driver Lenovo, its message is "NT LDR" is missing. That I expected.

What is the process to get the restore disc or download?

    Hello

For Lenovo disk recovery simply call Lenovo support and they will guide you through the process to get them. In addition, there usually is a recovery partition on the original hard drive provided with the Lenovo.

  • Lenovo V580c HARD drive is dead, can't boot from DVD or other medium

We have computer laptop lenovo V580c whose HARD drive died - he was already 2 times lol refubrished and it died again. It has Windows preinstalled 8/8.1 and we have upgraded to Windows 10 recently. But as the HARD drive is dead, we need to reinstall the system on the new drive (we of this msata ssd). In any case, I tried to start Notepad with DVD with burned ISO of Windows 10 clean image, but the laptop won't boot from the DVD all of a sudden. No change in the BIOS could help solve - laptop everything simply does not recognize any drive now. He goes through all the boot options and stopped at the initialization of the network which we have not. And then, we see just a small windows with the boot option that do not in any way. Here are some photos: http://imgur.com/a/6R185 http://imgur.com/a/112HY http://imgur.com/a/K1k8Q I have tried BIOS posible lall lifestyles, responsible security settings, used UEFI/legacy/the two, disabled/enabled secure boot. Nothing helps and the laptop is literally unusable now because it's not accept any storage/disk to start. I even tried to remove any startup as HARD drive unit, DVD and new msata I tested before. Computer laptop while still not trying to boot. Of course, it is out of warranty now. What can I do to fix it and make acept to boot from the DVD again? I don't want perair service because it wil cost us money. This product should work in the first place. We had so many bad experience with lenovo with this laptop that I won't buy another their product more.

I recently bought a laptop Lenovo B50-50 and it does not recognize my external hard drive. It's a WD elements with USB 3.0 storage device. I tried a few of the fixes recommended on other forums, but none of them work. The hard drive comes up is the list in Device Manager, and all my usb drivers are up to date. The hard drive works perfectly on other devices. Other work of readers of fine nib. Normally when the hard drive connected to the aa one device in flashing lights. This does not happen when I connect it to my laptop.

    Any help much appreciated.

Make sure you use your laptop, 3 USB ports, not then a USB 2 port to see if one will work. If it does not power up to contact Western Digital for support.

  • Lenovo G580 - menu to start cannot find CD/DVD, HARD drive

    Hello everyone

I have a little trouble with this laptop lenovo G580, which cannot start.

Problem: HARD and CD/DVD drive is visible in the tap in the bios info, but they are not visible in the faucet of the boot, only an IP4 and IP6 EFI network are visible.

I tried to change the HARD disk first to ensure if she would do anything, but did not work, so I spent back.

But I've never seen this kind of problem before, so I really have no idea what to do.

The version of the bios installed is V9.01 I hope that if someone has an idea that could help solve this problem.

    -Mootix-

It seems ok I solved my problem, I will report how and what I have done, so anyone with the same problem can try this.

OK, so apparently the Bios have been installing only the boot devices to reqister who had something to do with Windows 8, which means that the hard drive that was completely empty of any data, had nothing to do with Windows 8 and therefor can not be started with the current Bios settings.

    1. open the safety valve and turn off temp only "secure startup.

    2. go to the tap of Boot and change 'Boot mode' for Legacy Support UEFI.

    3. in the tap water Boot changes 'Boot prio' "first Legacy.

4 reboot and press F2 and verify tap boot to the disk under "Boot device prio.

    Fact

I think that since the drive HARD have Win8 installed it will not display as boot device unless it is on Legacy Support.

because UEFI on the G580 only supports the HARD disk with a Win8 installed operating system.

Now, I should be able to reinstall Win 8 - 8.1 on the HARD drive.

  • Lenovo x 240 HARD drive upgrade to SSD

    Hi all

Need some advice. I recently bought a Lenovo x 240 1 TB HDD + 16 GB mSATA. I did some research and found that the 1 TB is a 5400 RPM one. I find that the Setup is a bit disappointing. When I up my laptop when watching videos, even gently, I noticed that the video crashes, stops or is interrupted then I think to replace the HDD with a SSD.

    A couple of questions, please.

    1. any suggestions for the SSD? who is compatible, what isn't? I understand that one SATA3?

    2. If I replace the HARD drive, I'll be able to restore everything? How can I migrate my Windows for the new SSD 8.1?

Any suggestion is appreciated. I love the 240 x, if I could just improve performance a bit, so it'll be perfect.

Thanks in advance guys / Lenovo team.

It is useful in case you drop your laptop; It reduces the risk of the hard disk is damaged. Don't know about the details, but its power consumption is expected to be negligible.

This is a comprehensive article on the alignment of 4K:
    http://us.hardware.info/reviews/4583/how-to-copy-HDD-to-SSD-with-correct-4k-alignment

Although the tool he recommends is certainly not the only tool capable of doing the job.

Assuming that you use VLC to play video, a better fix for the video problem itself would be to increase this value to something like 5 or 10 seconds:

  • ThinkPad R60 cannot install Windows XP After erasing the HARD drive using the lenovo diagnostic utility

WinXP pro Setup cannot find that any installed HARD disk so cannot install windows. Unfortunately after many attempts to use rescue and recovery to restore the factory settings and for some reason constantly default... After leaving another utility popped up giving me the opportunity to erase the HARD drive and so I did... After fact as well and all I had was a blank screen, no windows more or no matter what utility to reinstall windows, then I used my winxp pro installation CD, but the program installation would continue not after a certain point by saying that the installation did not find any HARD disk installed. followed by "ensure that any disk HARD r turned on and correctly connected, and that no matter what material associated drive configured correctly, this may involve running a manufacturer provided diagnostic or Setup program. Clearly it took me by surprise. What was supposed to be a cut to white erase and reinstall now me baffled and angry. Formats the HDD of the solution? • Maximum hard drive size in the Lenovo 3000 N100

    I have Lenovo 3000 N100

It came with 100 GB hard drive 5400 RPM

What is the maximum hard disk that can be used. Is it possible to only 5400 RPM or 7200 RPM?

    Thanks for the answer

    Abraham

No, I'm this based on the Avenue of the planets. Kidding.

I base this experience with laptops cheaper and lower quality supporting better hard disks, processor, etc. etc.

Also the fact that some N100 configurations included a 250 GB SATA 5400 RPM hard drive. No reason why will not work a 7200 RPM drive.

  • Using another hard drive to brand in lenovo

I own a Lenovo Thinkpad R61(8920-B6U) and think to increase storage capacity. It came with 160GB and I'll bring to 250 or 320 GB. In this regard, I have two questions:

    (1) my laptop will support a 320 GB hard drive?

    (2) can I use a hard drive other than lenovo in my notebook?  For example, I was thinking about buying a mobile hard disk WD Scorpio Black.

Pending a positive and quick feedback!

    Welcome to the forum!

The answers to your questions are Yes and Yes.

FYI, Lenovo doesn't make its own hard disks but installs those manufactured by Hitachi, Fujitsu, etc. from Seagate.

    I hope this helps.
