suspect the hard drive died, solutions?

My 3000N200 0769 AUU now has a problem starting after I closed the lid for quick access and it will not start by using safe mode. I'm guessing that the hard disk is dead.

Sometimes it will start on Windows XP startup, then it restarts, usually it goes into safe mode.  I can get the splash of Lenovo asking to select it using Lenovo.  But who doesn't either.

I inserted a disc of free software alternatives sata hard driver Lenovo, its message is "NT LDR" is missing. That I expected.

What is the process to get the restore disc or download?

Hello

For Lenovo disk recovery simply call Lenovo support and they will guide you through the process to get them. In addition, there usually is a recovery partition on the original hard drive provided with the Lenovo.

Thank you

Now I realize that I have to press F6 to load drivers to allow windows to see the SATA drive.  His point that escapes me.   I can't find the drivers to be able to do.  The dell with the drivers page doesn't seem to have what I'm looking for, unless I'm totally their lack which I won't deny is possible.

So basically I'm looking for assistance in finding these drivers told to reinstall windows.

If you try to boot from the hard disk on which windows was installed by using another computer and then, you will not be able to boot from it. You can try to perform a Windows XP repair install and check.

Recovery of DNG issue: I have photos stored on an external hard drive which have previously been imported into Lightroom and converted to DNG.  The laptop on which I was running Lightroom died and I had to replace the hard drive and rebuild the computer.  In the process of my Lightroom program and catalog related to these images have been lost.  When I re-associate these photos with my new installation of Lightroom and a new catalogue is there a way to retrieve the keywords or other changes or metadata catalogue Mountaga?  Is any of this information embedded with the imge DNG file or was it only in the cataloght lost on my failing hard drive? I re-import just as if it were new images with no prior treatment of Lightroom?

By default, LR saves all changes in the catalog, and that applies to any type of file.

Optionally, you can save changes to the file as well, for raw files owners, this will create a xmp file - for DNG that changes are going to be cooked in the file, without additional xmp file.

But it does not default. Go to the catalog and parameters under the control of metadata automatically save changes to XMP.

Unless you do this, the changes are saved only in the catalog.

    Hope this makes things clearer.

  • XP is not start properly, important data files on the hard drive, location unknown such as e-mail addresses, individual emails and favorite links on Internet Explorer. The system is damaged irreparably, what is the solution?

I need ideas to solve this problem.

You can retrieve the data without being able to get into Windows. The methods described require a certain level of computer skills. You know yourself best, and if a better course of action would be to take the machine to a local professional with a good reputation instead. If you choose to do, do not use a type of BigComputerStore/GeekSquad of the place.

1 remove the drive and put it in a box of USB drive or use a USB adapter. Attach it to a computer that is running a working XP/Vista/Windows7 installation. Use the work of Windows Explorer to copy the data to the hard drive of the system to the rescue and burn data on cd or dvd, or copy it to an external hard drive. I prefer not to do it if I know the drive is infected because he has a chance to infect your host system. In these cases, I use #2 below.

    2. you can start the computer target with a Bart PE (XP only) or Linux Livecd such as Knoppix or Ubuntu and retrieve the data in this way. This has the additional advantage to tell you if the problems you are experiencing are hardware or software related because if the computer behaves perfectly in Linux, you know that Windows (software) is the culprit. Conversely, if the computer behaves badly under Linux, you will know that there is a hardware problem. This is general information on the use of Knoppix for the recovery of data when you do not have Windows:

You will need a computer with two cd records, one of which is an engraver of CD/DVD OR a USB thumb drive with enough capacity to contain your data OR an external USB hard drive. Download Knoppix .iso image file and create your bootable CD *. If you do this in a previous (XP or Vista) operating system, you will need the third burning like Nero, Roxio or free ImgBurn software (Windows 7 can burn .isos natively). Burn as an image, not in the form of data. Then boot with the CD that you created, and Knoppix will be able to see the files in Windows. If you use the USB key or an external hard disk, right-click on its icon (on the desktop) to get its properties and uncheck "read only". Then click on it to open it. Note that the mouse action by default in the window manager used by Knoppix (KDE) is a simple click to open instead of double-click traditional MS Windows. If you want to burn CD/DVDs, use the K3b program.

    * If your computer has only an optical drive and you want to use this drive to burn data or need to test drive, you can create a USB bootable Linux instead of a bootable CD. This site will show you how to do it- http://www.pendrivelinux.com

The OEM of Windows 8.0/8.1 license is related to the motherboard and not the hard drive, so you can reuse the new hard disk provided his will in the same computer.

About the old drive you need not to worry about the formatting as the old disk can never be reused. If you want to be sure, you can physically break the old disk with a hammer before throwing.

  • Toshiba Satellite L50-B-1DJ does not supply power to the top after removing the HARD drive

    Hello world!

I have a Toshiba Satellite L50-B-1DJ. It has a 750 GB HARD drive, but it wasn't enough for me. So I bought a Toshiba 1 TB HARD drive. I have undone all the screws, carefully (using my driver's license), lifted up the plastic and removed a HARD disk.

BTW, I really like this plastic solution on the HARD drive!

Then I realized, that all my stuff is still on it.
So I put the HARD drive, I'm going to copy everything on my drive hard Ext. planning.
Well I screwed it back, got the battery, put the back of the AC adapter.

Battery charge light was on, indicating that the current flows. I pressed the 'Start' button, and nothing happened. He broke yet still nothing. I plugged the battery and the AC output adapter, I held the Power button for 30 seconds, put everything back still nothing. I got scared. Opened back once more, just to take a look at, so anything that slipped on. Nope.

Everything is a okay. What should do? I have the warranty? I hope not.
Can I fix myself without void my warranty? I hope so!

And also: I bought the laptop in Hungary, but I'm in Germany. Can I fix here in case my warranty is valid?

Thank you very much for your help!
