hard drive replacement, installation of windows xp

It seems difficult to my drive on my laptop, Compaq Presario V5205NR NB PC, is a failure because it is 5 years old.  I would buy a new hard drive and download Windows XP on my laptop.  Is this possible?  Can I use my old system to download XP on my new hard drive recovery disks?  I have bought the operating system again?    Thank you

How to get windows 7 edition starter on this system.

    Hi Dave,.

    Thanks for the updates.

I wish to inform you that there is a difference between the installation disc and disc upgrade.

However, there is a solution that will allow you to install Windows 7 on the computer.

Step 1: during the installation, when you get to the window where you enter the product key, uncheck the option that requires the product at the bottom of the window key. You can use the same disc of Windows 7 Home Premium upgrade.

This will install Windows 7 without product key, you must activate it later.

    Step 2: Activate the phone.

Check out the following link and follow the instructions in the section: Activate by using the telephone.

  • Windows problem for hard drive replacement

I am trying to replace a hard drive in a HP d530 for a science teacher as the XP is a failure. He needs the XP until I finished preparing the Windows 7 and it has data on the XP and I put Windows 7 on the new hard drive and it has 80 GB. The old hard drive Windows XP and it is a 40 GB. I had two hard drives hooked when installing Windows 7. Windows 7, the name is the C drive and disk XP the D. I tried to start the hard drive of 7 single and it gives me an error of invalid system disk. Press a key to reboot. When I have two connected hard drives, windows 7 starts very well. A computer teacher wants to clone Windows 7 for another professor of science. He said, it won't help him with two hard drives connected. How can I get on the 80 GB stand-alone installation without having to reinstall Windows 7 Windows 7. I want to disconnect the hard drive from XP and just use the hard disk 7. I have the 7 and XP on separate hard drives. They are the two IDE hard drives. I need to get the new hard drive to boot by its self and windows 7 as a stand-alone installation.

    That's good news.

I'm so glad you took in charge.

I had my hard drive replaced on my Toshiba lap top and my windows 7 is no longer considered as authentic code has rubbed off the sticker on the base of my lap top. Where can I find it?

    Option 1:

If the COA sticker is damaged, you must use the recovery partition to reinstall Windows 7, it will be exempt from the need to use the product key to activate your installation of Windows 7.

    Option 2:

If your recovery partition is not available or damaged, you must contact the manufacturer of your computer, and request that a defined recovery disk you can use to reinstall Windows 7. They could practice a small shipping and handling. This will exempt the need to also use the product key.

    Option 3:

If neither options 1 or 2 is possible, then you will need to invest in a new license of full version of detail.

  • How to install a hard drive more on a Windows Server machine?

Disable windows server and install the new hard drive

I installed windows on a hard drive server but now I want to turn off and install on a new larger hard drive. How can I go about it?

    Hello

There are a few options that you can try:

    1. format the hard drive.

    2. replace a new operating system. When media starts, you are presented with the option to format the drive before installation.

    3. If it is a separate partition, and you're dual-boot, you may need to set your boot options after formatting your partition WS2008. Demarrer start on your older operating system drive, and then select the boot option fix for your existing partition from the operating system.

Note: If both the HARD drive is connected to the same machine, start from the media format of the previous installation on the old HDD and install the operating system on the new HARD drive.

  • Cannot install windows XP it said hard drives are not connected & windows can not find the hard drives

I got an asus computer notebook windows vista, upgrade from vista to windows 7, now I'm not able to do a clean install of windows xp, when I try to install XP, it says that hard drives are not connected & windows cannot find not the hard drives, so once again installed windows 7, is there a way to overcome this problem Why do I get the message windows xp does not detect hard drives? I even formatted the hard drive & tried to install Xp, but still, I get the same message.

    The answers will be appreciated...

    Thank you

Because the Windows XP installation CD does not have the necessary disk controller drivers.  You will need a floppy drive to provide the drivers of controller for the installation program, or you will need to burn a CD of Windows XP with the controller drivers slipstreamed into the installation.  A CD of Windows XP with SP2 included may have the necessary drivers.

  • New hard drive try to install Windows vista but it keep suspended after 60% and collapsed them

New hard drive try to install Windows vista, but it keep suspended after 60% collapsed I tried a few time every time I had to wait for 5 hours, but the same thing happen again and again can help you pleaaaaaaaaaaaaase

    Monastir,

What happens when it stops it is have a Sata driver. It is on the drivers cd you received with your computer. You can also start the computer and press F2 to enter the bios. From there down to Configuration system - SATA Operation and change this to ATA. It is located to AHCI. Save the changes and restart the installation. Once you have loaded Windows and drivers installed, you will need to go back to AHCI.

  • If I bought a new internal hard drive, can I transfer windows hard drive fom that came from the computer to the new, or do I have to buy another software package full of windows?

What should I do to get windows vista on the new hard drive on the old, because I would like to upgrade to windows 7 since vista when I transferred transversely to the new.

Your license of Vista will be OK to reinstall it on a hard drive replacement on the same computer.

Hard disk manufacturers provide normally cloning software to do what you want to do.

Look at your new Hard Drive manufacturer's Web site.

Or there are 3rd Party software (cost the same money if): http://www.acronis.com.au/homecomputing/products/trueimage/

  • So basically I can't extend my 3 TB hard drive 3 TB because windows 8 is the treatment as a MBR. Error [0 x 80042468]

So basically I can't extend my 3 TB hard drive 3 TB because windows 8 is the treatment as a MBR. Error [0 x 80042468]

Background: after a bit of trouble to install windows 8 on my SSD, I had at one time install on my drive 3 TB of seagate for troubleshooting. Of course, this has reduced the reader to 2 TB for the MBR. I finally solved the problem by changing the mode AHCI instead of IDE interface and installed the OS on my SSD. To my dismay, I could not reclaim the unallocated space.

I tried to format the drive and delete volumes using disk management, windows 8 installation disc command prompt (you have the option to format and remove the disks and volumes). Basically, I'm stuck. I can't extend the volume. Windows 8 install disc gives me the error [0 x 80042468]

There is a similar problem but I can't access the answer. (ACCESS DENIED)

    * edit * there is no system of operating on the 3 TB drive, it is completely on the SSD.

  • My Mac has crashed. Reinstalling my operating system or hard drive replacement will cause me to lose my Adobe Master Suite?

I bought my Macbook Pro 17 (it's a Mid-2009, running Cougar 10.8.4) used on eBay, and it came with Adobe Master Suite CS5. I pursued a degree in graphic design, and the computer had everything that I needed to start. Now that I'm out of College, I rely heavily on InDesign and Photoshop to get the job done. However, after five years of loyal service without problem, my Mac has crashed and I have never used time Machine. I might have to reinstall Mountain Lion or replace the hard drive. Reinstalling my operating system or hard drive replacement will cause me to lose my Adobe Master Collection of applications? I can save them somehow?

Any reply and help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you for your time.

  • Home Media Network Hard Drive, Cloud Edition on windows 8

Hello, I would like to know how to use disk hard mid with a computer running windows 8, instalation CD software doesn t work

Hello, configure your Media Network Hard Drive Cloud home edition Windows 8 (.1) is quite easy.

You can consider installing the update 8.1 for Windows first...

But nonetheless go to the Lenovo Web site and download the latest version of the LenovoEMC Storage Manager.

    1.4.4.14439 worm.

It works somewhat like the Iomega software former.

(Assuming that your device has the latest firmware installed and everything is set up properly it should work fine.)

  • I upgraded my card mother cpu ram and hard drive. I reinstalled windows xp home edition has got all of the updates. After 9 latest updates download and installtion went well, I restarted the computer, I get a blue screen and the computer restarts

I upgraded my card mother cpu ram and hard drive. I reinstalled windows xp home edition has got all of the updates. After 9 latest updates download and installtion was going well until I rebooted the computer and go to page window showing all the icons that I get a blue screen and the computer restarts its self and does not stop. How can this be corrected?

    Hi KevinRy,

Welcome to the Microsoft Answers site!

    Unplug all external devices.

Try to start in safe mode. If you can start in safe mode, and then do a system restore to restore the computer to an earlier point in time.

Change the recovery settings to disable automatic reboot, if you are able to boot up to the desktop computer:

    1.

Right-click my computerand then click Properties.

    2.

    Click the Advanced tab.

    3.

Under Startup and recovery, click settings to open the Startup and recovery dialog box.

    4.

Clear the automatically restart check box, and then click OK many times necessary.

    5.

Restart your computer so that the settings take effect.

Now, when you are going to close and a fatal error occurs, you will see at least and it won't cause an automatic restart.

Please reply back with the error message you get because it helps us to resolve the error.

    Kind regards

  • HP Pavilion dv7t-4100 CTO Entertainment Notebook PC Hard Drive replacement

    Hello

I have HP Pavilion dv7t-4100 CTO Entertainment Notebook PC, and I had problems with hard disk of the guarantee period. for example I buy in 2010 and had a hard drive replaced in 2011 and 2012. Next time, he failed in 2013 (almost 11 months apart on average).

The last time it failed, the warranty has expired so I thought to give it a try as employment through fixing/amortization of bad sector seagate software, Toshiba... that came out of Smart Drive Error.

I use the HARD drive for some time now, but want to be ready for the next round and I don't know that he's going to be gone for good next time.

Current HARD disk is 640 GB, 7200 RPM hard drive (replaced in 2012). HP 621046-001 manufacturer.

When replacing, can I use ANY hard drive 640 GB? Can I use a hard drive that is higher than 640 GB? Different RPM?

    Any suggestions on hard drive?

The recovery discs I had received with the replacement drive did not work properly. I had to use the first game I had created just after I bought the laptop.

    Thank you.
