hard drives are not displayed except c:

I was with win xp SP3 before the power failure.

After a power failure and strongly fluctuating I fell from my PC and after when I turned it on, I think all good except local disk

local drives except c: do not appear in my computer.
I tried to see in disk management, but they are not shown here also
then I tried to fix my version of windows, but there is nothing else that change for sp3 to sp2
I tried to write F:\ instead of C:\ , but it says "file:///f:/". ' could not be found. Make sure that the path and the Web address is correct.
Now, I am unable to use all of the data stored in the drives d, e, f
But when I tried to download anything on the F drive (already together, without having to travel) by using the Download Manager it saved successfully but is somewhere in the c drive
I'm tired out now... Can do you for me?

Hi xdeeep,

As readers do not appear in disk management, the problem is likely related material.

Check if the drives are detected properly in the output system BIOS (Basic). If they are not listed, it is possible, that the discs are damaged.

If the drives are listed, try to perform a system restore.

System Restore can return your files system to a point in time before you noticed a problem, without affecting documents, photos, or other personal files. If the system restore does not resolve the problem, you can undo the restore operation and choose a different restore point.

    The answers will be appreciated...

    Thank you

Because the Windows XP installation CD does not have the necessary disk controller drivers.  You will need a floppy drive to provide the drivers of controller for the installation program, or you will need to burn a CD of Windows XP with the controller drivers slipstreamed into the installation.  A CD of Windows XP with SP2 included may have the necessary drivers.

Now the hard drive is not recognized (both on the utility disk and office) of my mac pro book works on os x el capitan, seeing the hard drive is disabled, but I can feel and hear the operation of the hard drive. Also when I hang up my iMac running os x yosemite on the hard drive can be used and seems to work very well.

I tried to reformat the hard disk, but it has failed it is still not recognized on my mac pro book

    Hello amartnez,

Thank you for using communities of Apple Support.

From your post, I see that your drive external hard seagate was pulled from the socket during backup with Time Machine, and now it is not recognized by your MacBook Pro. I know how it is important to ensure that you are able to connect your external drive to your Mac. I have something I want you to try.

Because the external hard drive seems to be working on another computer (iMac), please try a different USB port on your MacBook Pro and see if it recognizes the external hard drive on the desktop and in disk utility. If so, that means you have a problem with this specific USB port on the MacBook Pro.

    See you soon!

  • HP Envy Ultrabook 6 t-1000 CTO: HARD drive is not displayed

    Hello.

I had the Windows Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) once or twice when using simple everyday applications on my Ultrabook. The results were either not different on Mode without failure. After awhile, I started having 'No Bootable disc' error while starting up. Recovery (press F11) will not appear so. I tried the HP Diagnostics (by pressing F2 at startup) and Test the hard drive as well as the Test of memory shows PASSED on the formats of short or long.

    I tried the following:

    1. I did some research on Google and entered in the BIOS/Insyde utility (by pressing F10 at startup), loaded default installation (by pressing F9), saved changes and did a restart, but I get the error again.

    2. I downloaded Windows 7 64-bit Microsoft store, created a boot USB and plugged. I was able to access the Windows Installation Page, but he wouldn't show my hard drive at all.

    3. I find the support page of my product on the site HP and downloaded the latest drivers, put it in a USB device and booted up the system from the Windows Setup disc. On the page where it was supposed to show my internal hard drives, it showed only USB drives and there is an option "Load Driver" I clicked on and selected the driver files I downloaded from the HP website. Everything was going well until I chose iaStor.inf... this time, the system has hung up and the BSOD appeared with an error stating the file 'iaStor.sys '.

    My questions:

1 if diagnostic Tests are passed, I can assume that the material is well?

    2. Although I already placed an order for HP recovery discs, I doubt if it could help because my HARD drive drivers seem to be missing. What is your opinion?
    3. is there a way to reset zero/reload drivers BIOS/Insyde utility?

    My system features:
Laptop model: PC portable HP Envy 6
Product no.: A9G58AV (the back panel laptop says A9G30AV)
    {Information}
    Processor: 2nd generation Intel Core i5 - 2467 M CPU @ 1.6 GHz + Intel HD Graphics 3000
    BIOS version: F.0D
    Total memory: 4 GB
Operating system: Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
HARD drive: 500 GB 5400 rpm SATA RAW 7mm hard drive with 32 GB WSSD faster reduction of the hard disk Cache

Unfortunately at that I disagree with Paul and I think that you may be looking for a bad motherboard, but we would like first to try to remove the disc of WSSD 32 gig.

    Here is the Manual:

    Repair manuals

See Page 40. Unfortunately, this model is a little difficult to disassemble, but measures are set out in the manual. If it is still under warranty, you can't do that. If the hard drive passes the test of F2 then I tend to think that it's not the hard drive.

  • External hard drives are not recognized by Lr4

When I plugged my two external hard drives to my computer this week, Lr4 does not recognize them. Each folder has a question mark by it.

    Appreciate any help... Thank you!

Dave, none of us "aid" are employees of Adobe, we're all users just like you... it is a user forum where we all help each other.

Return to the specifics of your problem, "eject" is a function, you should find the area of the Windows taskbar system tray, but you may need to click the little pointing up (marked in blue on the attached screenshot) arrow to 'show hidden icons', which will reveal a bunch of other icons and the one you need is marked in red. Click on that to reveal a list of devices that can be ejected, select the one you want and wait to be advised that it is safe to unplug.

To be honest, I would never disconnect a drive just unplug him.

Regarding your other external drives, like I said that Windows will assign the first available drive letter, unless you use the "edit the drive letter" option to assign a specific drive letter... in this case Windows will remember this assignment and will subsequently always use this letter provided it is available at the time of reconnection. In other Windows do not book the drive letter, but it will use it if it happens to be available.

For this reason that I attributed to all drive letters my backup hard drives that I regularly remove after use, so I know I will always get the same letter each time (which is fundamental to my backup strategy).

I have an A135-s4487 with two hard drives, the two 120 GB. I wanted to increase one of the discs with a 500 GB hard drive. I replaced the 2nd hard drive with the new seagate Momentus 500 GB disk. The computer see the drive on the list of devices but cannot see under computer or use it.

Someone else has had this problem when changing drives, drive is too big and two disks must be of the same size? My OS is the smallest disk. I put the old drive to 120 GB in computer and everything works fine. Thank you

Running Windows 7 with 4 GB of RAM

    Hi simirob,

    > The computer see the drive on the list of devices but cannot see under computer or use it.
Yes, because you must create a partition and format everything first before you can use and it s listed under computer.

Here's a very nice guide how to use the Windows disk management feature to create the partition, format the drive, etc.

  • Hard drive is not displayed full size

Hi all... This is my first post in the forum and hope to share details on the problem that I am facing with my portable Smart Touch PC envy.

My Lptop configuration is as follows:

The problem started when I went to a recovery of windows from the HP Recovery Manager. Initially, before my C drive recovery showed as a space of nearly 500 GB.

When I went for a recovery the first time she abandoned and then again started the recovery, which succeeded. But to my surprise, it gave me two options to start in one was Windows 8 and the other HP RM (ESP). As usual, I chose 8 Windows and the laptop started fine, but to my surprise I saw that my C drive was reduced to 80 GB instead of the 450 + GB of space I had earlier. I searched the net and found that HP RM (ESP) was another partition and I could delete it by typing msconfig and then switch to the tab startup and remove the HP RM (ESP) OS and just delete. It also worked well for me, but I am still unable to use the full of the hard drive I have. Support HP can tell me what I need to do to recover the complete HD drive.

you need to expand your partition to occupy unused space.

    Run > diskmgmt.msc > enter

This will bring up the Disk Manager. Right-click of the 80 GB partition and expansion through empty space.

  • Install hard drive does not display complete space after failure bootcamp

If this problem is shallow, but I did a ton of research, and I'm stuck.

I tried to install Windows 10 with the BootCamp assistant and there was a mistake and restarted my MBP (mid-2015, 2.8 GHz Intel Core i7, 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3, 1 TB SSD). Upon restart, the partition of windows seems to be there, but when I tried to start Windows (restart now option key), I found myself with only one option, which was to start in Mac OS X. Fine. So I started in Mac and went to the wizard bootcamp again and this time, I had the option to remove windows, so I did, which was good, because I was going to just to try new BootCamp assistant...

-BUT (here's the point of this post)-

After the deleted bootcamp windows partition Wizard, my Mac partition was left on its reduced size, which is 901,34 Go (before "assistant" training camp, I got 999,35 GB, it's a 1 TB drive).

I did a lot of things to try to remedy this situation, but nothing seems to work:

-J' resized the partition in disk utility (which continued to give me errors, until I turned off FileVault), so now my SSD shows only a single partition to 1 TB in size.

-J' tried to run first aid on both the disk (SSD Apple) AND partition (Sean HD), but which shows all go well.

-I went through the Terminal to run the/dev/disk0 repairdisk diskutil command and it seems that the partition plan seems to be OK.

I would avoid using testdisk, because I think I would mess something up, but if I have the right direction, I could predict the future.

I DON'T want to format the drive and start over, because I would be really sad to have to reinstall/remake ~ 800 GB of things again (I am a music producer). And, Yes, I backed everything up, but again everything is too tedious (do once was quite tedious as it may be).

You notice you have a recovery of 98 GB of HD, which is usually about 650 MB? What were the exact steps you have taken to address the issue that you have after that BC did not work correctly? Did merge partitions incorrectly?

  • Envy laptop: my external hard drive are not

PC listed on but Device Manager does not list it on the devices and drivers.  Thus prevents me to record anything there or use it as a backup destination.

Yes diskpart is the version of disk management command line. Your player is set up for a Mac and won't be used with a Windows machine so much that convert you on Windows. Do you still have the Mac? Save the data that you need and you can even use the disk utility Mac OS to remove the partitions on the disk and make it white. Windows could then prepare it for use on a Windows machine. Or you can use Windows diskpart. The disk management interface will not work. Converting from GUID on the MBR will erase all data on the disk. It's actually not even necessary convert to MBR... 8.1 Windows will read a GUID drive very well, but it must be formatted in NTFS and not the Mac OS extended (journaled) that is used with the Mac. The link I gave above contains instructions to know how to completely erase (clean) the drive using diskpart Windows command line.

  • How can I change the icon associated with an external hard drive that is displayed in my computer

When I double click the icon my computer on my Seagate external desktop hard drive does not display the correct icon. It displays a blank page with the upper right handed with a superimposed replica of a small screen.  I really want to show an icon that looks like the real thing as stated in the icons folder.

    Hi PhilipRoebuck,

    (1) do you get an error message when you try to open the external hard drive?
    (2) where there are changes to the computer before the question?
    (3) is confined to a specific icon?

    See the following:
    Method 1:
    Icons change incorrectly in Windows
Important Before run you this difficulty, save your data and close the application. After you run the difficulty, your computer will reboot after 10 minutes.
Important This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. • Hard drives does not after created vm web client

I'm under esxi 5.5 with the web client vsphere. When creating a virtual machine through the customer web of hard drives are not appear. I go through the process and click Finish and everything will check fine no errors, but when I go to edit the virtual machine without hard drives are showing. Now, if I create the virtual machine via the vsphere client it all works. I tried in the client web creation v10 and below the virtual machine and still the same result.

Just solved the problem. I went ahead and reset services and it works now. The weird part is that the hard drives or specific devices have not been created and there where no errors at all. I guess that the constant permutation between vsphere and web client cause something in the background

  • I upgraded my Vista Home premium to windows 7 ultimate, shortcuts on the desktop are not displayed, and can be created, or any folder cannot be created until the flash drive is reinserted

during the upgradation he automatically took backup to an external flash drive, now every time I have to run has previously program I have to insert this flash drive.
also all the shortcuts on the desktop are not displayed, and can be created, or any folder cannot be created so that the flash disk is reinserted

    Hi subhshy001,

Welcome to the Microsoft Windows answers Forum community!

Try this if you do not have

Windows Explorer to create the folders and shortcuts in your document folder, drag and drop them on your desktop.

If you have completed the steps and was not even useful,

    Follow these steps:

Try to create a shortcut and sending it on the desktop.

    (1) open: Start Menu ,.
    (2) right-click: Internet Explorer icon .
    (3) select: send to > desktop (create shortcut).

There should be a shortcut on the desktop .

Make sure that the "show desktop icon" has a check against it

    OR

Just click on the empty part of the desktop, choose new > then select the folder to create. Right click on this folder , select Rename it.

If the steps above do not work then:

You can scan your computer for malware.

You can download, install and update anti-malware free of your favorite search engine and find malware.

To help resolve this problem, use the tool (SFC.exe) System File Checker to determine which file is causing the problem and then replace the file. To do this, follow these steps:

    1. open an elevated command prompt . To do this, click Start , click principally made programs , Accessories , right-click guest , and then click run as administrator .  If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click allow .
    2. type the following command and press ENTER: sfc/scannow (Yes there is a space after sfc) the sfc/scannow command analyzes all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with appropriate Microsoft versions. This analysis do take some time to complete.

    Hope this information helped!
