    Hello

I have a problem with my HD1600 Personal Media Drive.

After formatting, Windows 7 can not recognize it. Only the power of the blue light is on

in the Hp website, I can not find the driver software

    Please help me

    Thank you

As is the case, what I would do then is to format the drive outside of the Windows environment.  I like to use a Linux on CD or GParted on CD.  Unplug your hard drive after the CD and boot from the CD that you did.  With your hard drive disconnected, there is no chance of accitentally choose the wrong drive and the PC will work fine to either that of the CD.  Format the connected USB HD1600 Personal Media Drive everything using one of the version of the Linux CD in the NTFS format.  If it is completed, the disc is OK and you should be good to go.

  • HD1600s HP personal media external hard drive 7200 RPM 160 GB

Bought a new computer and my HP disc HP1600 external hard is not supported with Windows 7 OS.  Am I bad about it and if not how can I get all my files backed up off this drive external hard now?

    Hello

According to the information of requirement system of HP, the device is compatible with windows XP.

    You can check: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00189065&tmp_task=prodinfoCategory&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&product=424311#N144

However, as a work around, you can install drivers for windows 7 with compatibility option.

See the link for how to install the drivers below:

  • HP Personal Media Drive: Restore the HP Personal Media Drive on PC content with 8.1?

Hi, I have a Presario desktop computer that was originally Vista but upgraded to Windows 7.  He apparently died, but the contents were backed up on a disk HP Personal Media, model hd1600s.  I want to restore some of the content saved for a new cell phone ENVY with 8.1 but I learned that the media player is not compatible with 8.1.  Is it possible to restore files or otherwise draw from the media player so I can restore/load them on the URGE despite the incompatibility?

Thanks for any ideas or suggestions.

8.1 win should recognize the external media player and allow reading and writing the data to disk on the fly.  What happens when you tried?
