    Hey, @sumukhreddy!

I'm really sorry to hear about your WD drive problems. However, I recommend you to use Data LifeGuard Diagnostics from WD (DOS version) to test again and check on the health and the SMART State it. The DOS version of the utility will allow you to perform diagnostics without having to boot into any operating system. You should be able to find under downloads by product once you select WD Caviar Blue.  You can extend the WD software link and follow the instructions.

The drive is OEM and most likely came with your laptop, so I recommend you to contact the manufacturer and check the warranty of your laptop. It is always covered, you can RMA and they should be able to provide a repair and the implementation of the defective material.

Good luck! I hope I've been helpful! :)

  • RAID 1 on PERC H200 showing the two failure predicts hd

I have a Poweredge R210 with Raid 1 on a PERC H200 controller.  I ran the task of consistency check on the disk virtual and got a bunch of error ID 2350 reading the newspaper of alerts:

There was an error of irrecoverable during the rebuild disk media or recovery operation

-they have been saved to disk 0 and disk 1. Is it possible to rebuild the mirror on that?  Both hard drives are showing "failure foretold" in OMSA.  From what I can tell, replace a hard drive at the same time does not work, as resynchronization will fail.

    Ashevis,

You are currently able to boot on the table? If yes then we run a Dset on the server to check the log of raid controllers. It might actually be a punched tape of parity. That's when the bad blocks of failure provided are rebuilt on the remaining good disks. That is what can cause both be showing predicted failure. Now, it may be also that readers just hit the threshold at about the same time and scored them both. We will be able to say that, with the controller log.

If it's a punched tape of parity, then you will need to recreate the table and the operating system and restore from a backup. No doubt.

If it's just that they are marked and then he would have a chance of recovery by rebuilding each, but there is always a risk of failure pred transfer of bad blocks, during reconstruction, the new disk. What causes a puncture.

So, in summary, that the best course of action would be to backup the data, recreate and do a restore.

Looks like your drive HARD 0 is having some problems.

You can read S.M.A.R.T. in the following link, and there are a few other links to tools for free (like Speedfan) diagnostics at the bottom of the page:

    http://en.Wikipedia.org/wiki/self-monitoring, _Analysis, _and_Reporting_Technology

There may be some diagnosis available for your computer HARD drive against the manufacturers World Wide Web site (what it is... Seagate?), but usually the diagnosis confirmed the warning and the tests fail and it would be prudent to anticipate a HARD drive failure imminent and start making a plan for backing up your data, get a new HARD drive installed and running until it was too late.  What a perfect excuse for a grand/more faster HARD drive.  Make your HDD suspect a disk slave control or something, so that when it fails subsequently, it won't be a big deal (it isn't if it fails, it's when it fails).  Alternatively, give to an enemy.

Sometimes when this error starts to mount the HARD drive will be seem to be going very well for the hours/days/weeks/months, but it seems that there is something to worry about. There are so many parameters S.M.A.R.T. and values (could be your torque Amplification count), you need to start some tools to see exactly which ones are defective, but failure is cause for concern, unless you can explain it.

You can perform a Google search using your message, read what other people in the world have to say about the message.

  • H200 RAID 1 predicted failures

    Hi all

I seem to have a strange problem with a RAID 1 array on a Dell R410 server. I urgently need some quick, if possible responses. It'd be so grateful.

After the blue Server armored one Sunday evening I started to study and found that according to Dell OpenManage console drive 0 was a "predicted Failrure. The indicator light for drive 0 on the front of the server was also orange flashing, probably to indicate this problem. Also, when I checked my backup logs, I see actually between 3 and 4 reported CRC errors.

I called Dell support and after have run me a DSET report and a Diagnostic test readers online they arranged for a replacement drive. We replaced the wrong disc, waited for the RAID rebuild and subsequently found to our amazement that Drive 1 has now reports a "predicted failure.

I called Dell again, and they said that it could just be a coincidence. I thought that this is not an unreasonable thing to say, so we arranged to drive 1 to be replaced also. As you have guessed, we have replaced the Drive 1, waited for the RAID to rebuild and here, now drive 0 reports still "predicted failure.

Then of course, we now know that something's wrong here. We thought that maybe he actually not related correctly as faulty disks, so we made an update of the BIOS on the server, but also updates to the Firmware on the iDRAC 6, as well as the controller of H200 himself. But it has not made a difference.

Naturally I called Dell again, and they have now made arrangements for the controller RAID itself to be replaced, but also at least one drive (but maybe both, if necessary).

    My question is:
    (1) what could be the cause?
    (2) is the last solution offered by Dell, the best and the most logical next step to fix this, or could it be something else they did not examine replacing yet?
    (3) if the problem is caused by bad sectors, bad sectors can't jump / migrate from one disk to another, they can?
I guess the worst thing that can happen is that whatever data resident in these bad sectors is now unreadable and unrecoverable, even from my backups? (since there now resynced to the two discs) Or are there other things to consider?

Having never troubleshoot-performed a H200 heard, I can't tell what you'd find in a newspaper of controller - or if there even is (ex-SAS 6/iR have not one), but you probably have a range of corrupt or damaged.  He may have started with a drive bad - or even two - but if the table has a missing or damaged part on one disc, and he can't read this location even the other player to fix, it signals a problem.  There are two types of failures predicted - physical (drive reports it has a problem and is only a matter of time before, he is asked to do something, he can no longer do - disks will fail diagnosis) and logical (data in the table between the members is unavailable/irreconcilable and it's only a matter of time before a location is requested that the controller cannot provide specific information for causing read this disk failure - drives pass Diagnostics) (if healthy).

Unfortunately, there is no 'solution' to this otherwise than to drop the table and re-create it.  Running periodic consistency checks can help to mitigate the consequences of these types of errors.

  • Satellite A660 HDD failure

    Hi all
I've had the laptop for someone to look at.
The laptop model is TOSHIBA SATELLITE A660, Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.
This is not my laptop, I can't tell if the person has been using some software dengerous like spyware or any other, but I suppose that it is very likely.

+ WHAT IS THE PROBLEM? +
There is a problem with the HARD disk, a message all the time, SMART 'failure predicted on hard drive '. PC is running, but slow, and not always to start Windows. Has more no guarantee on the computer, the store where it was purchased no longer exists. I don't have a recovery CD and Windows is stored in the recovery partition.
The owner of the PC complained of strange noises from PC for a while, but I didn't hear myself.

    + WHAT I'VE DONE SO FAR? +
I searched the forums for an answer, but I have not found.
I tried to look at the HARD drive, it is stable, not loose and seems fixed correctly.
First thing I tried was the disk check, but it wasn't even to start. When I restarted the PC once I gave a chkdsk command, there was a black screen with info, it will start the process in 10,9,8... 1 sec, he stuck to 1 sec and never begun the process. After some time I left he thinks, PC off by itself (AC adapter / CC was pulged in all time).
I tried to find the computer, I brought to the factory settings, but it did not help. The problem is always present and laptop is terribly slow. BTW, I had to try twice, once there was an error: error F3-FFCC-0006, I discovered, that the error appears when the AC adapter / CC was missing, but it is pluged in all the time.
I brought the BIOS to its factory settings, which is probably not relevant.

    + WHAT I WANT TO KNOW? +
Is there a possible way to repair the HARD drive?
OK, I agree that I probably need to buy a new HARD drive, there is only one thing I would like to know. How can I get WIN7 installed without the CD? I know that I have the CD key and license, but how do I get the CD? I do purchuase CD from Microsoft? Purchuased of TOSHIBA recovery CD solve my problem?

    Thanks for any help.
I will appreciate it asap, cause this laptop is required by the owner of that an option to send the laptop to the service and wait weeks for some 'help' is not an option.

    > Is there a way to repair the HARD drive?

No, what you can do is to repair / fix the bad sectors on the HARD drive, but if there is a physical problem, it will not help

    > How can I get WIN7 installed without the CD? I know that I have the CD key and license, but how do I get the CD?

The key belongs to the image of Toshiba that I n t think that it will work to activate the system installed using MS Win 7 disc
However, you can download Windows 7 image of page Microsoft (google for it)
Then you can burn the image to disk using Nero or other burning application supporting iso burning and could use this disc to install Windows 7

Otherwise, you can order the Toshiba recover drive here:

  • Failure SMART hard disk with Satellite M30X

A problem with my hard drive has suddenly popped up. Whenever I try to start the computer, the following message appears:
SMART failure provided on hard disk 0: toshiba mk6025GAS-(PM) WARNING: immediately back up your data and replace your hard drive. A failure may be imminent, press f1 to continue...

When I press f1 it just shows the window of windows xp with a black background and stays like that.

So, today, that I inserted dvd products recovery, which took about 3 hours to restart. Once this is done, I could go to the windows menu start and tried checking errors c drive of my computer. To be able to do that I had to reboot the computer.

When the computer has restarted the same error message above SMART failure predicted etc. had sprung up again. After pressing f1 computer started chkdsk. When he reached 4/5 which was chkdsk varifying data file he said a cluster of file message replaced 5518 name pagerfile/sys and just froze.

I manually restarted the computer and when I went at the start menu windows an other error message pops up saying: windows could not save the data for the file c:\ data has been lost. This error may be due to your computer hardware or network connection. Please try to save this file elsewhere.

Finally I tried to restart the computer once more and a blue screen dark this time appeared saying something in the sense of: it has detected a problem with your hard drive and it may have been caused in what concerns some hardware and something in the message was referring to the BIOS.

I buy a new battery for laptop a couple of weeks, but it worked perfectly. So someone could shed light on, you can the problem. At the time the laptop is freezing on the black windows xp screen.

    Thank you

For me, it looks like a HARD drive failure.

The S.M.A.R.T (self-monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology) is an industry standard that is used in hard drives. This feature watches and monitors the important parameters of the HARD disk and allows you to recognize the HARD drive problems.

In my opinion the HDD doesn't work properly and you must replace it as far as possible.

Sorry for this bad news but I think that there is no other solution as a replacement of HARD drive

    Bye and greetings

  • SMART failure on hard drive

    Hi friends,
I have a Sony Vaio VPCCW190X model, which is 2 years old.

Last week, he crashed with a blue screen. I tried to restore it with the CD of recovery for some time, but in vain. It did not work. A few times when the recovery came through, the windows update would break with a blue screen. Sometimes even the recovery did not work and gave me the message that some of the files on the CD were corrupt.

Today, I get a message "SMART failure predicted hard disk. Replace your hard drive. A failure may be imminent.

Please guide me the steps to replace the drive hard if it is the only option.

    Hello
Welcome to the Forums of Discussion of the user.
SMART is an early warning system that your drive has failed.
Your CW series has a bottom hatch to access the hard without disassembling your computer. Here is the Guide.

  • Satellite A500 - 1C0 - Windows has detected a problem with HARD drive

    Nice day
Laptop shows me that Windows has detected a problem with the HARD drive. The laptop is running slow and chops. And when you turn it, it shows me Smart failure predicted on hard disk 1. Toshiba MK-5055GSX - (S2). Can you help me? (I m, CZ)

    Hi Konyga,

If you already have a warning on the internal HARD disk before Windows starts I would recommend sharing it and backup all data as quickly as possible.

Is your laptop still under warranty?
If Yes, you can get a new HDD to an authorized service provider. It would be free because it s covered by the warranty. All you have to do is contact with an ASP.

  • SMART fail to start

After starting the computer remains on the Toshiba screen.

If I press F12 at startup and choose option 2: removable devices it seems to start normally.

    This message is also displayed:

SMART failure predicted hard disk 0 TOSHIBA - MK2018GAP (PM)

    Press F1 to continue.

It has not disappeared to this message the last time. When he did, I pressed F1 and it starts normally.

What should I do? I have read that it is not fatal and does not necessarily require drastic measures? Any ideas?

PS. I tried to post this message before last night, but nothing appeared on the forum. I don't see what I'm doing wrong.

    Hello

In my opinion, you must make sure that all important data is backed up. Do not rush out and buy another hard drive.
I put t know which model of laptop, you use, but might be a good idea to check on the warranty. It's always covered, you might as well get a new drive of Toshiba. They will install it and reload the base image.

  • Smart fauilure on hard drive 2

I tried to boot my laptop but it gives an error "smart failure predicted hard disk 2. It asks me to press F1, but when I do doesn't matter, SO I pressed F2 and it checks the system errors. Results of which was "need replacing hard drive." When I pressed F10 to escape the system booted normally. But now it is stuck at the 'Welcome' screen after that I logged.

What should I do and is not blocked RTA welcome screen is there anything and that I should wait, if so how long. If it does nothing then what should I do? I don't have with me recovery disks.

Also, if I restore settings I lose all my data? I have tons of data that I need to back up.

I have windows vista 32 bit.

    Help, please! URGENT

If you are restoring, you will lose your data.  I hope that you have been using a program to backup or storage of your files online in a service like Microsoft OneDrive.

But restoration alone will not solve the problem.  Your hard drive has failed.  The average hard drive dies after 5 years.  You need get the replacement of the hard disk from the manufacturer, which has made the laptop, or buy one in a store.

You may be able to connect with safe mode, but since the drive hard didn't which is not likely.  Keep trying to use the drive can cause more damage to your data.
