HDMI port using puts to headphone/speaker output audio muted

I just bought a 15R special edition 7520. I put the laptop in an office situation (use Ext. keyboard + mouse + monitor 1920 x 1080 HD). Of course, I want to use the HDMI output to post a link to the HD monitor, as I did for many years with my XPS 1640 laptop with HDMI HD output. I was surprised to see that the HDMI out put it faces to the speaker/headphone audio is cut. I have searched through all the menus embedded, but could not find an arrangement to allow audio to be issued even if the HDMI is in use.

Am I missing something here? I assumed that this notebook would be operated the same as the XPS 1640, in applications where the operator uses a HD monitor in an office (no built in onstage) situation or a situation where you desire to feed your own audio system directly from the laptop. BTW, I also have a desktop computer DELL ZINO HD with HDMI output, which does not have the same way the 15R. This hung isalso system live HDMI to an HD monitor with no inhibition of the local sound.

Am I the only one who, as has been thisd prob? Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you... Paul...

Hello

Welcome to the community

What operating system do you use? Can you plug the HDMI cable, then check with Panel > sounds then check out the list of audio devices. Right click on the device you want to set as the default value for Audio output.

Let me know if it helps. Kind regards

  • Satellite Pro P300 - output HDMI port does not

    Hi all

Well it starts to drive me to distraction and Im hoping that theres someone who can put me out of my missery lol.

I tried to connect my laptop (toshiba satellite pro p300) up to my LCD TV via the same HDMI cable that I use for my PS3 but the connector does not simply. I keep finding all these messages in various forums saying how they can't get the HDMI connection... that would be great, at least, this means that they were connected.

Are there different links for the HDMI? The one I have is diagonal connector but the port on the laptop is more square and just doesn't fit. So, if it is not a connector, does that mean I have a funky port on the laptop.

There is also the issue of connecting my laptop to my amp which controls the surround sound system. Which link is best to use, as there is no real connections audio output?

    See you soon

    Hello

Can you please tell us what Satellite Pro P300 you have exactly? I mean the exact model number.
Maybe you can also post a picture of the HDMI port. Normally there is no different HDMI port, all have the same physical size.
I m PS3 not owner, but maybe he has a special connector. Have you tried another cable?

Regarding the audio connection I use the normal line of output port to my external speakers. Have you tested this?

  • New iMac using a HDMI port

I am looking to buy a new computer (preferably an iMac) and I want to connect to my apple TV up to it, but I can't understand what iMac Apple TV supports HDMI ports and those who did not. Please help me to find the most recent iMac that has a HDMI port taking supported the Apple TV. Thank you.

None of the new iMacs have HDMI ports, Thunderbolt ports, which can be converted into HDMI using an adapter. However, there is really nothing you can do by connecting an Apple TV to a Mac via HDMI.

Apple TV video outputs, and the ports on the Mac are also outputs, not inputs.

What exactly do you think that you can accomplish by doing that?

given that no one here has any experience with HDMI and studio, I recommend you first check the internet for general use of HDMI with these applications.

As Tom SC replied, you must contact the company that manufactured your computer.  In general, the ports HDMI on most computers is an out-bound port, send video / digital audio output.

You should probably use a video capture card that can capture from HDMI source,

  • Can I use my Switch SW3-013-1566 as a monitor of the camera using the HDMI port?

I did research on this scenario but see no mention of the possibility of using my Acer

SW3-013-1566 tablet as a digital monitor for my Canon 7 d DSLR camera. If anyone knows how this can be done please let me know and which downloadable programs I could use.

    Thank you

Well, according to this video , you can. You use the USB connection and software from Canon. You wouldn't be able with the HDMI port without any other additional hardware to do the video cpture.

  • HDMI ports can be used outside of the stacking

I guess it's not, but good to ask... maybe he can do in a future firmware...

On the 5548 is it possible to treat the hdmi ports in standard rather than use their stacking. For various disaster scenarios (including the paranoia of the experiment with a different providers handling of a switch down causing the battery to fail rather than just unit), better staging rolling updates, etc., we want that the switches to be separated (each with its own IP, etc...).  It would be nice to always use hdmi ports high speed like a SHIFT to switch interconnect rather than treat the two switches as one.

The HDMI ports are strictly used for stacking.  I'm not aware of any risk that this will change in future updates.

    Hello

Some intersting discussion in the following link:

You may need to reduce the refresh rate (which is not recommended) to be able to get a higher resolution.

  • Satellite A6650 11Z - HDMI update to put

    Hello

I have the Satellite A665-11Z computer portable 3D which has a HDMI out - only put and read somewhere (don't forget Don t) that an update has been worked on updating the HDMI for 3D laptops to make an entry.

Can someone tell me - is it true and if we could play ps3 on my laptop? I also like now is it possible to play ps3 on my laptop using HDMI?

As far as I know that something like this is not possible. Toshiba offers equipped laptops of HDMI output port only.
Perhaps some external device can help with that, but on Toshiba directly there's nothing you can do about it.

  • Is it possible to use the USB device as an audio output on Satellite Pro?

I have a satellite laptop computer pro that is used as the center of entertainment in my room before, i.e. ripped music is played through my stereo, it's my player to dvd etc..

My problem is the following - the only link of notebook with stereo I know and am currently using is a 3.5 mm jack adaptor phono twins connected at the front of the laptop and then phono leads stereo auxiliary input adapter. It works pretty well but I noticed that when you listen to songs more calm music, there is a lot of background noise, almost as if the internal working of the laptop sounds are picked up through the headphone jack.

Y at - it another way to make a portable hi-fi audio output via usb for example, thus obtaining a more pure sound. My hi-fi entry is phono of twins.

I'd appreciate any help on this topic. Thank you

There are two useful links providing you a USB audio device to record sounds and to connect other audio devices.
I put t know what laptop, you have exactly, but it should support a S/PDIF (same headphone jack) port.
Here, you can connect the S/PDIF audio cable and can connect the HFI for notebook computer in digital mode.
