HELP... all my emails in Inbox disappeared! Completely gone...

We use Outlook Express 6 to our corporate e-mail program. Today when I opened the mail program, all the e-mails received previously disappeared. In the lower right corner, he showed the State for incoming emails (20), and also in the left pane, he showed the emails in the Inbox. But in the pane to display... nothing. If we clicked on another folder, and then you click back to the Inbox, these 20 has completely disappeared in the left pane and the preview window shows a message "no e-mails to display.

Have 3 questions here:

1st: all emails in Inbox received yesterday back... gone.

2nd: all emails from now in the Inbox are invisible in the preview pane, only reflected by the changing numbers in the left pane of the Inbox.

3rd: If you go to another folder in the left pane and then switch back to the Inbox folder, these emails disappear also. (number returns to "0").

Anyone have this happen to them and how to fix it has?

You use OE for a company and do not save your messages?

Check first of all, what is obvious. While in the Inbox: view | Current view. Make sure show all Messages is the only option that is checked.

If this is not the resolution, you have work cut out for you and hopefully will help.

Two reasons the most common for what you describe is disruption of the compacting process, (never touch anything until it's finished), or bloated folders. More about that below.

Why OE insists on compacting folders when I close it? :
http://www.insideoe.com/FAQs/why.htm#compact

Why mail disappears:

http://www.insideoe.com/problems/bugs.htm#mailgone

Recovery methods:

If you are running XP/SP3, then you should have a backup of your dbx files in the Recycle Bin (or possibly the message store), copied as bak files.

To restore a folder bak on the message store folder, first find the location of the message store.

Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.

In Windows XP, the .dbx files are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in the Solution Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder options | View.

Close OE and in Windows Explorer, click on the dbx to the file missing or empty file, then drag it to the desktop. It can be deleted later once you have successfully restored the bak file. Minimize the message store.

Open OE and, if the folder is missing, create a folder with the * exact * same name as the bak file you want to restore but without the .bak. For example: If the file is Saved.bak, the new folder should be named saved. Open the new folder, and then close OE. If the folder is there, but just empty, continue to the next step.

First of all, check if there is a bak file already in the message. If there is, and you have removed the dbx file, go ahead and rename it in dbx.

If it is not already in the message, open the trash and do a right-click on the file bak for the folder in question and click on restore. Open the message store up and replace the .bak by .dbx file extension. Close the message store and open OE. Messages must be in the folder.

If messages are restored successfully, you can go ahead and delete the old dbx file that you moved to the desktop.

If you have not then bak copies of your dbx files in the Recycle Bin:

DBXpress run in extract disc Mode is the best chance to recover messages:
http://www.oehelp.com/DBXpress/default.aspx

A general warning to help avoid this in the future:

Do not archive mail in default OE folders. They finally are damaged. Create your own folders defined by the user for mail storage and move your mail to them. Empty the deleted items folder regularly. Keep user created folders under 300 MB, and also empty as is possible to default folders.

Disable analysis in your e-mail anti-virus program. It is a redundant layer of protection that devours the CPUs, slows down sending and receiving and causes a multitude of problems such as time-outs, account setting changes and has even been responsible for the loss of messages. Your up-to-date A / V program will continue to protect you sufficiently. For more information, see:

  • HELP > all the post of Inbox will also to "all messages" and "Favorites".

All received mail is undesirable not only the box receipt, but also automatically to 'Favorites' and 'all mail '. I never asked it. As soon as I remove a mail from one of these 3 boxes, this mail is also removed from you other 2 boxes (records). My Inbox I always keep as little as possible so there is no problem being too full. There are also log time to get my visible incoming mail because it is distrubuting himself first to the other 2 boxes. If I would delete this 'mail' box, all my Inbox would be emptied... What to do and why it's happening?

It comes to gmail? I suggest that you move the account settings in Thunderbird and unsubscribe from these records. Or better yet, go to the website of gmail settings and disable them.

Gmail isn't really use folders. They store all your messages in a big pile and apply labels to them. So when you ask to see, for example, sent messages, it shows you only the messages with a "Sent" label.

The big pile of messages is of course the display of "folders" named "all messages". I would say that you don't need to see this in Thunderbird. Similarly, gmail may apply a star for you. (I don't know why, and what do the stars mean). Turn off again this folder in Thunderbird it will eliminate.

I found a few other 'smart' things that made gmail and I went to the site of gmail settings to turn them off. I'm not interested in decide them what's 'important' for me, and I have no use for their 'circles' or 'categories '. You can disable all these, or at least preventing them to be shown to your e-mail client.

Just in case where it was not clear, do NOT remove things from all the messages until you are really sure that you really don't want them no more. Gmail has try to hurt to delete things; When you delete a message, they just hide so it can be recovered later.

    Hello

    1. Since when are you facing this problem?

2 did you changes to Windows Mail settings?

I suggest you follow these methods and check.

Method 1:  Windows message store can be damaged or corrupted.  You can try to rebuild the message store.

Note: Follow the method 1 first, which is mentioned in the link above.  If rebuilding the message store does not help, follow method 2 to rebuild the Windows Mail folder.

    Hi Kelly;

Is it possible that when this happened, the phone was in a State of forgetfulness and corrected since then with the battery pull?

Messages and lost data problems are surrounded by the low-memory problem, for further investigation and monitoring of memory must be done in order to understand why this happened. If FB is the only 3rd party application, that you have installed, then something else is depleting the memory. I don't have any solid answers and perhaps another user of the forum can sound to shed light on this.

There is another option and that's to update the OS on your Blackberry. That would solve questions surrounding the corruption of the BB OS if you recharge the appliance.

  • Outlook express all emails in inbox missing

I opened outlook express this morning to discover all of the emails in inbox missing.  What's past and how to bring them back?

This happens often.  Records often self-destruction in OE and messages have disappeared.  Check your Inbox for an inbox.bak file which is a backup of the Inbox.dbx file (see www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#2 and also point 4 on this page).  If there is no bak file so you will need a message recovery program, as my program of DBXpress (www.oehelp.com/DBXpress/), which may or may not be able to recover the lost messages (but if any program can, it will be).

In the future, its very important to regularly backup your messages, as often happens to people and hard drives die every day.  It is very easy to backup and leaves with a sense of security.  See www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#6
