Help, please... How to disable this option?

All of a sudden my Mac Pro did something wonky.  It has a black status bar that appears in the lower left corner of each window.  He tells me what I'm doing.  I don't know how I turned it on, or how to disable.  It's almost like a captioning of the activity.

Help, please.  Obi Wan, you're my only hope

Open accessibility preferences and see if you have Closed Caption active.
