Help reading MOD video file on Windows 7

I downloaded video files from my JVC GZ-MC500u camcorder.  My new laptop Toshiba running Windows 7 starter edition will not play video.  He advises you to check the audio player, but he doesn't have a problem.  I check JVC for a driver and Microsoft compatible pages, but I can't find what I'm looking for.  Help, please.

Hi Dsmith353,

Welcome to the Microsoft answers site.

·         Are you unable to play other file types?

·         What application you use to play video files?

·         What is the exact error code or error message when you try to play music files?

. MOD files are implemented in JVC to the transport stream MPEG-2, similar to one on a DVD VOB file or M2T files used on Sony hard disk camcorders.

. Mod file format is not supported by Windows Media Player.

Check the link to see the formats supported by windows Media Player file:

You can use the favorite search engine and convert. The MOD files and try playing these files and verification.

    When I import a video file into Windows Movie Maker, it plays the video and no Audio how to import the video file so that it contains the audio when the time to line up? Help?

    Watch the video file. The last 3 letters represent the file format.

    Windows Movie maker only supports the following video file formats:

    Video files: .asf, .avi, .dvr-ms, .m1v, .mp2, .mp2v, .mpe, .mpeg, .mpg, .mpv2, .wm, and .wmv

    If yours is not on the above list, Movie Maker will have probel play.

    In this case, you will have to google for a free video converter and change the format of your video file to WMV. WMV format is the most reliable format for Windows. For the benefits of others looking for answers, please mark as answer suggestion if it solves your problem.

  • How can I move video files in windows Explorer without losing metadata in windows media player?

    I'm under WMP 11 Vista.  I have a folder that contains the files in my video (AVI for example).  I organized videos in WMP by manually changing fields of tag for ratings, artists, genre, etc.  I would like to move some video files around in Explorer Windows (in the same drive that is monitored) to arrange my training and records.  When I do this, WMP loses track of the video file as the path is no longer correct, so I would like to add back to the library to help add to the library.  When I do that, the video appears in its new location, but all the metadata is missing.

    Is it possible to move my AVI files to another directory without losing all the metadata, or are never supposed to video files be moved once their metadata has been published in WMP?  Can I enter the new path to the file in WMP or something and have it keep its metadata?  Or is there a way I can get WMP to store metadata on the AVI files as it does with WMVs?

    It seems that there is something missing if metadata of media management is a core feature of WMP and be able to move files autour is a core feature of Windows Explorer, yet the two are not easily compatible.

    I want to just move my video files without losing the work that I put in the metadata.

    Also, what is the reason have advanced tag editor for music files and video files are not?

    Thanks in advance.

    It is not possible.

    May be that the video file format is not compatible with Windows Media Player.

    Options: -.

    1] download and install VLC Player. It's free and supports file formats more than WMP.

    2] download and install the codecs

    Personally, I prefer VLC Player-if you have that then not need to download and install the codec of any third party.

  • Help: read a video 3 times and a link to a Web site

    I need help with two things: (1) how to limit a loop of 3 plays and (2) how to GET the URL for the code to work so that when someone clicks on the video, a new window opens with the Web site.

    My Flash CS6 file is set up quite simply: I FLVPlayback on a layer in the timeline panel, with an instance of the 'player' and on a separate layer name of AS3, I have the following code in the Actions window:

    loop video but limit to 3 times

    Player.source = "Mt.m4v";

    Fl.video import. *;

    function onFLVComplete (event:fl.video.VideoEvent): void

    {

    Player.Play ();

    }

    player.addEventListener (fl.video.VideoEvent.COMPLETE, onFLVComplete);

    When the user clicks on the video, they will go to a Web site

    import flash.events.MouseEvent;

    import flash.net.URLRequest;

    var myURL:URLRequest = new URLRequest ("http://www.google.com/");

    function gotoURL(event:MouseEvent):void

    {

    navigateToURL (myURL, "_blank");

    }

    player.addEventListener (MouseEvent.CLICK, gotoURL);

    you will need a skin because it is the only clickable part of a flvplayback component (add an alpha = 0 button on the playback screen) and use:

    loop video but limit to 3 times

    Player.source = "Mt.m4v";

    Fl.video import. *;

    var loop: int = 0;

    function onFLVComplete (event:fl.video.VideoEvent): void

    {

    {if(Loop==2)}

    gotoURL (null);

    } else {}

    Player.Play ();

    loop ++;

    }

    }

    player.addEventListener (fl.video.VideoEvent.COMPLETE, onFLVComplete);

    When the user clicks on the video, they will go to a Web site

    import flash.events.MouseEvent;

    import flash.net.URLRequest;

    var myURL:URLRequest = new URLRequest ("http://www.google.com/");

    function gotoURL(event:MouseEvent):void

    {

    navigateToURL (myURL, "_blank");

    }

    player.addEventListener (MouseEvent.CLICK, gotoURL);

  • Unable to read the .avi files with Windows Media Player 11 on XP

    Original title: Media player upgrade was worse than basic
    I recently updated my Player multimedia media Player 11 and now it won't play movies from AVI file that I used to be able to play easily on the outdated version. Why is this?

    Hello

    Do you have an error message when you try to play with Media Player AVI files?

    When you try to play a file that uses a codec that is not installed on your computer, Windows Media Player attempts to download the codec from a Microsoft server. If the
    Codec is available, the Windows Media Player installed on your computer, and then bed file. However, if the codec is not available on the server (for example, because)
    the codec not created by Microsoft), Windows Media Player displays a message that your computer is missing a codec.

    In some cases, the file you want to play uses a codec that is not available or compatible with Windows Media Player. When this happens, you may be unable to use Windows Media Player to play this particular .avi file.

    You can consult this article for a solution:

  • Could do audio or video during playback of video file into Windows Movie Maker.

    Original title: problems using Windows Movie Maker.

    I have a HP Pavilion p6310f desktop computer and I created a movie using about 16 short mpeg files. However, there are no audio or video when I play the individual files in the preview window, and when I try to play the movie, the program crashes. What could be the cause of the problem?

    Reset did not help, either. Should I convert the MPEG to AVI files? I read somewhere that might help.

    Give it a try. It won't hurt.

    I make a business card CD on Auto Play Studio 8. I have completed the project and burned the cd to test on different computers. When I clicked on the 'Video game' button, I get this warning. "This file has no program associated with it for performing this action. Hi NoPCgeek,

    1. what program do you use to read the file present on the CD?
    2. What is the format of the file present on the CD?

    Before playing the files on the CD, make sure you cross check if you have the right program installed on the computer. If you have not installed the right program, then we recommend you to install the program that supports the file type and use them to read the files on the CD.

    You can also change the default program to read this file. The program opens the file only if the file format is supported by the latter.
    See Change that uses default Windows programs

    The best thing you can do with a used computer that gave you is to access the recovery partition and reinstall the default unit. Most of the laptops brand will have a reserved recovery Partition built into the main HARD disk that can be used to restore the computer to right-of-factory default. Usually activated by touching a certain key during the boot process or by using the software provided by the computer manufacturer.

    Dell uses Ctrl + F11 at the Dell logo screen to initiate the restore process. HP uses a program in Windows 7, called Manager of recovery. Your system may vary depending on the manufacturer.

    Don't forget to get all documents (including images) and any other personal information that you want to keep. Several key software product can be recovered with the Belarc Advisor before the restore, but you will need to locate the diskettes (CD/DVD, ISOs or exe) installation for each piece of software.
