Help reset WRT54GX2

Signal of PSI is a little squirrel at the moment.  The guys in the truck will come tomorrow to get signal issues resolved, but the tech support diags show potential problems of signal between their modem and router.  They suggested that I reset and reload the router.

As testament to the reliability of this router, I have to admit I did little to him since installing it.  Yes, I had a small learning curve to acquire; but the router has defined and performed his work without crossing or complaint for several years – with only the indignity of the occasional power failure when it is necessary to reset the modem from the ISP.

Now it seems that I might actually need to reset the router and maybe go in the settings.  My laptop nor the Office of the wife - who were the wireless for years - sufficient signal will now get.  Should I follow the suggestion of tech ISP and reset the router or is there other diags should I run first.  I honestly don' t remember well beyond the IP (192.168.1.1).  When I point my browser so now it asks a user name and password. I don' t remember never put a (although I might have) and certainly don't remember not or the other element.  If I use the reset button, which will return by default?  Can I download the current firmware and install it?  If so, where can I find the download and instructions for this particular router?

The ISP again and now said that everything goes well with their signal and the modem.  I'm currently wired to the modem cable to the WRT54GX2 with ethernet and ethernet to the router on my desktop pc.  It gives me ' net access. However I still can't connect wirelessly.

I unplugged my router and a paper clip into the reset hole and then reinstalled wired as described above.  I then ran the Setup Wizard from the CD that came with the router.  When he asked for a password, I tried to enter "admin" by default, but it would not accept.  Finally, one of my passwords worked to complete the wizard without ever providing a username.

Now, I tried again to put the IP address into the address bar of my browser and got the name of user and password Panel.  I can't accept combinations of username and password that I remember having already consumed, or I cannot accept a blank user name and "admin" as password.

I think that the router has never accepted the reset.  When I held the paperclip in the hole, I couldn't really feel anything back pressure or movement that would indicate that I was on a switch.  Is is possible that a big paper clip would drag the reset button?  Is there another way to reset the router?  A way to retrieve the name of the router username/password (probably not, eh)?

I am ready to try setting percussion with the device of brute force.

  • Help reset Admin password

    I apologize for reposting this topic when I saw she responded a few times, but I have concerns about responses that have been posted.

    I have windows vista home, which came before install on my Dell computer.  I have only one user account that I did as an administrator account.  Last night, I changed my password and now I can not connect.  I have not created a password reset disk.  I have the vista install disc that came with my computer.

    I saw a post here which says to install some program to reset the password, but it does not guarantee if it damage the computer.  The link is http://home.eunet.no/pnordahl/ntpasswd/. I hesitate to load my computer using this prgram reset my password.

    Is there a way to reset the admin password?  Is to reinstall vista a better option, and if so someone can post a link to a thread that explains how to reinstall vista?  Thanks in advance for any help.

    If I bought a used computer, no matter who previously owned the
    first thing I could do with it would be to reinstall the operating
    system itself. You don't know how the computer has been maintained,
    which has been improperly installed, what's missing, what virus and
    There may be spyware, etc. I would not live with someone
    other errors and problems, possibility of kiddy p0rn, etc. and I
    would not recommend anyone else to do.

    System A. Boot mode safe mode by pressing F8 when PC stars.

    D. make a right-click the account with password unlocked, select set the password and enter and confirm the new password.

    Solution3: Toshiba Reset password with the ISO image file burn

    a. download the program from an accessible PC;

    Thanks for sharing this, but we always talk about password of Toshiba, it won't and I think this might be a bit confusing, it is of a workaround for the windows user account password.

    As much as I know there is no password defined by Toshiba.

    The user can define the user account password in windows if necessary so that this workaround solution describes how to remove a user account Windows password that is common to all computers with the preinstalled Windows operating system.

    I have a Qosmio F50 - 10Z and prompted by toshiba I downloaded the Bios Update and started to install.
    My screen saver came and it crashed.

    Not turn off (even after pressing the power button for 15 seconds).
    The drums and then put back. Computer skills on but the screen is blank and will not boot to the top.

    Tried to take part to Flash the bios by removing battery cmos/rtc (whatever it's called) but cannot find the battery and got to the point where I wasn't ready to dismantle any more (nobody else never disassembled a?)

    Could not find information or diagram or picture where the battery has been on the net... manual really useless laptop)

    Found reviews records of crisis, but I don't know what that means.

    So, how to I reset the bios?

    Removing battery RTC would not help reset you mate sorry to the ROM BIOS module but what you did was completely useless
    It seems that the ROM modules where the BIOS is stored, was not properly flashed or something went wrong during the flash procedure

    In case of bad you the mobo is unfortunate but I think that Flash module ROM once more with a disc of crisis could help solve this case
    But the fact is that flashing the ROM module with a disc of crisis can be done by a technician of Toshiba ASP.
    That's why I recommend contacting the guys in your country and ask for flashing ROM
