Help to the text entry area

Hi all.

I'm working on a project involving financial statements. I want that there is a default quantity in the text entry box. There are boxes of maybe 20 who would need a put option of default number in them. I just can't understand how do. The user will then put in the new numbering as appropriate, and then he'll see if it's the correct number or not. Don't know if I will check each one after you enter the number or ask them to fill it in there and click on submit. It's still a work in progress. Ideas on the default number would be useful.

Lisa

You must complete this variable, which can be made when you set these variables by placing it in the 'Value' field in the Variables dialog box.

As I have explained, I have used which instead of use the literal value to make it easier to change this value for comparison.

  • Help with the text entry box?

I recorded a presentation in practice mode, and a guest that I recorded for the learner "Please enter the number 20 domain xxx.  When I publish, the learner must enter 20, BUT the 20 that I typed in the field to capture the action required is visible, as well - the learner is required to type on the 20 who appears in the background.  Is it possible to have the 20 I typed in response to not appear?

    Thank you!

No, it's a straight entry text box. Check the properties panel, accordion of Transition: set this no. transition, perhaps it fades.

I would like to limit the time to answer a question using the text entry area, but there is no option in the properties of the input box. I know that I can use the question slides (short answer) because they have an option of limitation in time, but not much can be changed there design wise so I need to use the text entry box.

You can use the hourglass interaction or the time. It allows you to display a message and go to another slide when the time is up. However, if you are talking about seconds, it is not very accurate.

  • How to validate the number of characters in the text entry box?

    Hello

I have inserted a text box entry and assigned a variable (UserName). Now, I need to limit the entry of a number, maxinum of 20 characters. In other words, how can I validate the number of characters in the text entry area and provide feedback if it is more than 20 characters?

I think that you should study the Jim Leichliter widget that allows you to use regular Expressions to validate text input.

To check if the user didn't write anything, you will have to compare the value of the associated variable of the TEB or text box with a v_null user variable. You must create this user variable and simply leave it blank.

    Hello

    http://gumbo.flashhub.NET/keyboard/

It is a small example of a 'virtual' keyboard that will enter the text into a textinput/textarea component selected. Capslock and shift key States really aren't quite right (really need control shift/cap lock combo), but there is a simple tab and backspace (delete) and enter the function key.

    hope this is useful

  • Captivate: Keep the cursor in the text entry box

I would limit the cursor on the input text in a slide area, regardless of where the user can click.

I am doing a project of training for an application interface text, and I simulate the application entry field by placing a unique text on the slide entry box.  Although the cursor starts in this field when the slide is displayed, if the user can use the mouse to click anywhere but the text entry box, the cursor disappears and the user can enter data until he or she clicks on the text with the mouse input box.  This problem occurs in both the preview and the. Output of the EXE.

I tried to activate and deactivate the 'click' option under select key... in the parameters text box properties.  I also tried setting the action on the lost update to allow for the text control, or make her display a legend that says "click in the area of selection."  Apparently, remove the cursor of the box isn't enough to trigger the event "has lost the Focus.

While this isn't a complete show-stopper, it is an irritation that I'd rather not have my users deal with.

    I am using Captivate 4 v4.0.1 build 1658.

Thanks for any help you can give...

    Hello

I was able to do the following.

Insert a box click programmed object to go to the last slide when you click it.

Insert a text entry box and configure it so that it does not keep the text.

Insert a blank slide just before the slide with the TEB, then once it is longs.1 seconds. You should also give the same origin as the slide with the TEB. Otherwise, you will see a 'flash', as the previous slide is visited.

The way this works is that the user clicks anywhere but the BER and transport action click on box to the previous slide. But this slide is really super short. .1 second if it is visited and the read head again enters the slide with the TEB.

One thing to be aware of, is that if you plan to view the Captivate 'as a whole', which means that you have no idea what browser is used to view it, you must consider the insertion of a button object on the first slide that requires the user to click on it. This way is is moved to the Flash sitting inside the browser object.

    See you soon... Rick

  • The text entry boxes reset

    Scenario:
I am using branching. When they get to the end of a branch and click the close button (click the button), it loops back to the start screen where they can try again, using a different path.

    Problem:
When I click on the close button, it goes back to the start screen - but captivate seems to remember what I did the first time and the fillings in my boxes of text from my previous attempt.

Is there a way to reset the screen when I get back? I'm not familiar with javascript, so I don't know if there's some code avaible that.

Thanks - any help would be greatly appreciated!

Your information are a little sparse, so let me rephrase your question and tell us where I'm wrong, OK?

You generate output SWF in Captivate 1.0.1. On the last slide in the project, you placed a click-box or is configured to return to the slide #1 the movie even when the user clicks the button. The problem is that - after his return to the slide #1 to start again - the "answers" to the text entry boxes are already completed, and you don't want them to be. Your knowledge of Java-script is limited, so any solution that involves this language should be gradual. Subject of law?

I'm not an expert in Java-script is but to refresh the data, you must refresh the movie. One way of doing that would be to access the URL for the film (HTM document) instead of jumping to a previous slide. Have you tried? Another way using the command Refresh () - Java-script, but should do the trick for you - experiment a bit to see if it will work if the idea of "jump to URL" will not do for you.

How can I stop Windows Search to steal the focus on the text input area?

I can type about three characters maximum and then results focus, and I have to click with the mouse to the area of searching at the end.

For example - I want to get "Img1.bak".

I type 'I' "m" and then I'm whisked away and the 'g', I typed just takes me to the "great songs by Imogen Heap.txt" or what is the first result starting with g.

I have to reselect the text box and add a letter or two at a time to get what I need. Very frustrating.

  • Disable the text entry box Captivate 7

Anyone know if it is possible to add default text for a text entry area (TEB) and then turn off the ability for the user to edit the content?

I need to show a large amount of text that you have to scroll and the TEB seems to be the only element that can have a scroll bar.

The solution must be compatible HTML5.

If anyone knows a better option than BER please let me know as much text via the tiny default text of edition field will be far from ideal.

    Thanks in advance.

In CP7 Interaction of the scrolling text is another possibility.

  • Reveal the correct answer in the text entry box

    Hello

I am a novice Captivate user (Version 5) and I would like to ask for help on the following question:

I need to have a screen with multiple text entry boxes. When entering text in each box and confirm by pressing "enter", learners only need not comments correct and incorrect, but also the correct text in the text entry box. Is this possible?

    Thank you very much.

    20-12-2010 14-47-04.png

    Hello

I searched for an easier solution, if you can live with the fact that the user must follow a certain sequence of complete ETB.

    • create as many slides (duplicates) that you need text input boxes + more to show the final result after the last TEB has been filled
    • on the first slide, the user fills out the first BER; choose these settings:
      • validate user input so that correct legend of success or failure appears
      • do not turn on "keep the text.
      • Choose "Go to the next slide" as well for success with regard to the action of the failure
      • write the properties of the ETB: character (police/size/color), size and position
    • on the second slide, you will make the second TEB with the same settings.
      • Create a rectangle with the same size and position of the TEB on first slide; do the 1pt STROKE and black and white, the fill value or if you have a white background, you can simply set Alpha to 0%: this rectangle will be to mimic the BER of the first slide
      • in this rectangle, you can put the text (double click - No need to caption text): put in the correct answer with the same font as in the ETB properties; given the right answer appear as well to correct regarding the wrong answer, it will be OK
    • on the third blade, you do the same to mimic the second TEB and you put the third TEB

Really think it's the best way, no use of variables and advanced actions. The user will see the legend of failure or success, and then to the next slide with the right answer.

  • Text captions do not appear when it is used with text entry areas (C3)

I'm building a simulation of accounting system where the learner needs to enter data.  I entered text boxes (one per blade) appearing all the time on the slide.  I have captions that tell the student what to enter, but are synchronized with the audio, then a final text legend who told them how to go to the next slide (press tab, etc.).  My problem is that the text captions do not appear if they are configured to appear after the text input area appears on the time line.  Has anyone experience this problem?  Any suggestions?

We have created a work around using a highlight box where the text entry box will appear later - so that all the text captions and text entry boxes appear at the same time.  Should be an easier way!

    Hello

Yes, we see this question over and over again. Especially with new users.

You need to come to terms with the works of Captivate. Imagine it's like a stream flowing by. Expect a legend to appear, but something stopped the flow. Blocking is your text box for entry (TEB). He interrupts the slide, waiting for your user to enter data.

The key here is that you need to adjust the point break for ETB.

    Hello

I tried to figure out how to get the type u to text in a text box automatically jump down to that underneath the text box area runs. I have some specific lines that I wish ppl in my PDF enter their information on. But I can't seem to manage get text, as executions of box of text box, to jump to the next line.

That should be done with JavaScript in AcroForms. AcroForms don't have such a device built in. Dynamic form fields can be created by LiveCycle Designer, but it is an additional cost.

  • Quote from validation in the text entry box

    Hi all

I want to validate content beginning and ending with the stock symbol in the text entry box, the user must type it just quotes ("'") in the input text box. So I need to validate the content of the user with quotes

For example. Let take text1 is my filed input text. And my answer is "Adobe"(quote response also includes").

    If I like it

    Text1.text = "«Adobe"»

    Error occurs

Can someone suggest me to do.

    Thank you

    Escape the quotes:

    Text1.text = '\"Adobe\'";"."
