help with old compaq 5wv250

has got an old compaq 5wv250 its been formatted and do not have a recovery disk to reinstall I do, tried to put xp on it, but nothing happens, I was wondering if and how use a recovery program data to get that running back and create a set of recovery disks , ive tried to put a hard drive to work with xp but that dosent work either but the working hard drive works on my other pc, all solutions would be complete list thank you for your time to read this, a friend in need thanks again... also if it was possible to put another job inside with a PC hardrive I do somthink to the motherboard and stuff will recognize the new drive hard... all sorted now put a second Bay fle hand one another maxtor 10 picked up gig.it the sum of xp drivers then came hear for the rest so all fixed and spot on cheers for every 1 who has contributed to this problem

    You should be able to use any detail 2.5 inch PATA/IDE hard drive. Is the "shovel" removable? Usually, they are if you pull straight out.

    I have windows xp family. I try to get my old precision sidewinder pro controller to work. XP does not recognize the controller even when I went to the control panel command, game controllers, sidewinder(auto detect), all I get is, your gameport or gameport drivers are not properly configured. I don't have my original disc supplied with the controller. Can you please direct me in a simple way so that it works because I'm not very good with the Tech stuff. The product I.D. # for my controller is: 85791-579-9297393-00000. The manufacturer is: x 03-57540. It's a Microsoft Precision Pro.   • Newbie needs help with old concert photos

    I'm just getting started with PS > was my main reason for getting the program to edit hundreds of photos together, I took in the 1970s on 35 mm film and was developed by post in enterprises (don't forget Clark, anyone?)  Most of the pictures are ugly, but they have great sentimental value and it's time for me to try to resurrect them.  Like most beginners, I find PS overwhelming but want to dive in.  Can someone give me some guidance on the necessary basic to begin steps to improve these photos, which are among the worst of them, because in addition to poor exposure, developers cut the negative through the image, and then recorded back together and printed the photo I scanned recently.  I need some basic first steps to improve the overall image and then get rid of the line.  I want to do it myself, I'm not asking anyone to do it for me.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thank you very much.11132015_0010.aJPG.JPG11132015_0036a.JPG

    Just for fun, I spent a few minutes. Yes, I did:

    1 levels. To make things dark concert. I cut the bottom of range.

    2 auto-ton, Auto color, auto contrast

    3 painted a quick mask fuzzy brush on the Cup

    4 use content-aware fill. (for the record, it is really sloppy and could do much better).

    5 adjusted levels once again, but adjusted the darker Middle slider. To taste.

    6 saved.

I understand that the original CD would have been pre-activated and this one isn't. I don't have the original disks and the computer did not have a recovery partition. I used an original cd of OEM Vista Home Premium x 64 make the re - install. When I try to activate windows, there is no option to not activate by phone and when I try to change the key he said is not a valid Vista key, if it is the original on the case. I tried to use slui.exe 4 to get the activation of the phone, but I had the screen normal activation that I'm used to without phone option.

    What should I do here? I don't want to pay for the new disks or reinstall again if I have to...

    After talking with Microsoft, I am very pleased and impressed by their service.

    What the tech says the key to the case only lights up if the installation came from the disc from the factory, I did not and is no longer available from the manufacturer. They I generated a new key which also did not work because it does not correspond with the oem Setup, I used.
    Now they're sending me a new copy of Vista Home Premium retail toll-free sales. I'll have to reinstall clean, but I'm fine with that in the circumstances.

    I was wondering if anyone can help? I have an old Compaq Presario Desktop (DQ079A), I need to run to run as a backup (long story)... under Windows 98SE (yet more long story).

    I have a Western Digital IDE drive hard 80 GB that I work perfectly on another HP (Evo D330M) but, when I try to get the Presario to boot from it, all I get is a "Non system disk error". The hard drive is detected at startup upward.

    The Presario has a price/MSI MS-6577 v2.1 Motherboard and Phoenix Award BIOS v6.00PG.

    One idea would be welcome.

    Uninstall Avast. It's a worthless scam that don't do anything useful. The only thing it does is a lot more then what it claims, that he you will protect from.

  • Old Compaq Evo N1020V, replace the hard drive on the SSD

    I wanted to extend the life of my old Compaq Evo N1020V Intel P4. I bought a Transcend SSD TS32GSSD25-m, connected to the computer, I have updated the BIOS to the latest version available F.0B January 24, 2007. Unfortunately, when the computer starts the message: 0200: failure fixed disk 0
    Is it possible to connect the SSD drive to the old computer?

    You initialize the drive using the FDISK utility? If it is not initialized it would not even necessarily considered gift.

    Installation of an operating system on an SSD, this isn't the same as it is with an electromagnetic drive legacy.  It is a little involved with an old SSD OCZ Vertex and enough conversely simple with a Corsair SSD upgrade kit. I own both. The upgrade of the Corsair was as simple as with the SATA supplied to the usb connector and software cloning with that also it was delivered.

    To do a bit of research I saw that there is not much in material information facility available on the web for this particular SSD. Maybe the transcend technical support would have been a better place to look for info on the installation. Transcend would have supported their product. The post that is marked as the solution is not correct. It is as you say a disc SSD PATA. It must have worked. the problem seems to be more a problem installation or a failing Transcend SSD drive. return the drive for a replacement and try again.

  • EliteBook 8730w: need help with reset password BIOS HP Elitebook 8730w

    Dear community, I have a HP Elitebook 8730w and I forgot the BIOS password. I tried everything I could remember, I slept several days above to remind him, but I'm lost. I contacted HP support and they said that they would not help with a file of type smc.bin (which has been mentioned in many forums). No idea how to fix? I need to change the HARD disk but do not dare to do so that I can not configure the new HDD or SSD in BIOS.

    Help would be appraciated. I do not directly post P/N and S/N, due to privacy regulations in this forum. But if anyone can help me, please send a message and I'll post all the necessary details.

    Insert a clean USB flash drive.

    Then run USB Image tool.

    Choose the flash drive, and then click RESTORE.

    Remove the flash drive after the restore.

    Insert a locked in a portable flash drive and boot. "If the HARD drive is installed remove before start".

    At C:\OUTPUT, type CD...   "And then press ENTER.

    HPBR of type "and then press ENTER.

    First thing is to save your settings.

    Select 3 # re-program.

    Press "S" to save the system information.

    Type HPBR and press ENTER.

    Select 'of FIRST BROADCAST.

    Then select the model.

    After the restart to repeat, same as above but this time SELECT 'SECOND RUN.

    Some instructions here. "If you can't boot from USB there are instructions for making a bootable HARD drive."
