Technician COMPUTER checked a bunch of stuff and thought it was "related to a driver."  Regardless of what is the cause, how do I find the problem and fix it.   Thank you

  Thanks for the comments, and I'm happy that you found.  Although I'm not surprised that an msiInstaller error could have caused a "critical stop" but I never thought that he would deliver the error never seconds.

  I suggest you also check your event viewer to find errors msiinstaller.  I've seen other posts where a sound "critical stop" appears to be linked to these errors (but like I said above, not continuous repetitions of the error).

  There is no easy way that I know to track this sort of thing.  Before you start the method of 'Clean boot' or start using the process monitor, open the sound control panel applet and scroll down to check that Windows XP stop critique.wav has not been assigned to certain events in addition (or instead of) a real stop critical Windows.

  As long as you an update from XP to 7, the only option you have is Custom installation so there is no sense to the current programs with Windows 7 compatibility check. The thing you should be concerned is the material part. Check the 3 main material that requires compatibility: CPU, RAM and disk space.

There may be ways to substitute this mode or could someone help please I can find myself having a restless night without solving my unfortunate situation.

  Hello! My Dimension 8400 a computer start when we experienced a power failure and I now get an error UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME. I bought a new hard drive and intend to make the new boot drive so I can then copy the files from the old drive. I can't access the Dell PC Restore application with the new installed hard drive (the original disk is currently removed). Given that I have not received any software operating system with my computer (I tells me because I am running Windows XP) I am at a loss on how to be able to boot from the new drive so I can copy my files and continue to run in. Any help is greatly appreciated.
