If any of the files that begin with tmp exist in this folder, do not remove any other files. Files .cat in this folder are necessary for installing hotfixes and service packs.

Important: Do not rename the folder C:\windows\system32\catroot. The Catroot2 folder is automatically recreated by Windows, but the C:\windows\system32\catroot folder is not recreated if is renamed the folder C:\windows\system32\catroot.

  • Windows update error - "Code 80070643 - Windows has encountered an unknown error"

I am running windows Vista SP1 and for the past month, it does not install updates.

My security software (ESET Smart Security 4) keeps telling me that my system is not up-to-date and when I check the windows update, I have accumulated lack updated for a month. Previously, they have updated very well, but I think the problem started when he tried to install windows vista service pack 2 and failed with an "unknown error".

When I try to install the updates, Windows Update displays an error message saying that it has to update the version of the Windows Update software but when I click on continue, I get "Code 80070643 - Windows has encountered an unknown error. No updates are then installed.

Office Source Engine setting to automatic, what I did, but that makes no difference, suggested the online help.

    Can anyone help?

We put family photos in Windows Photo Gallery and then transfer them to a disc for recording.  We leave some in the Windows Photo Gallery and then click on the photos in the section of the control panel of the computer screen saver.  Old photos still come on t he screen saver, but the new ones that do not.  In addition, any image that we place it anywhere on the computer in a file or something else happens now in the photo gallery, and they did not have it before.  We need to stop that as well.

We want to use all the photos in the photo gallery for the screen savers.

We would like to stop pictures in other parts of the computer to be placed automatically in the photo gallery.  We want only to directly uploaded photos.

    Hello

Try to make the clean boot and see if it makes any difference.

To the clean boot you start Windows by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

  • Installed windows 7 and windows live mail. now I want to import my messages from windows mail, and they will not matter. I really need the messages because they have a lot of important information in them.

Would be really happy for any help.  The application tells me that they have been moved to the storage area, but they are not there.

    Help.

Is your username mentioned in the tab security for storage files and all subfolders, and has 'full control '?

If these files are really empty then the transfer/import routine failed for some unknown (to me) reason.

Have you tried to copy all old messages from the Windows.old folder, put in a file in your user name for example Documents and then import from there?   It is perhaps necessary to remove to another location in the current storage folder in Windows Live Mail rather than simply delete before rerunning the import program.

Have you tried to temporarily disable your anti program virus and other security programs to see if that blocks emails appear?

Try running ChkDsk to check your drive for errors. Right click on your drive icon / properties / tools / error checking.  First try checking not be (read-only) to see if it reports any problems file or hard drive.  If this is the case, start by checking the two boxes, in no other rerun.

How great the message you can send is depends on your ISP. They put
the limit, no Windows, and not your e-mail program.

Ask them what the limit is, and whether you can change it. But be
aware that it is likely that you can not have the raised limit.

Help, please

    Hello

    1. have you done any change in software on the computer lately?

Check to see if the problem exists in Safe Mode, if the computer works as expected in mode without failure, then we can solve the problem in the clean boot state.
    Step A.
See the article below for the procedure safe mode in Windows XP
A description of the options to start in Windows XP Mode
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/315222

    Step B.
You need to perform a clean boot to find the program that is causing and then disable or remove.
How to configure Windows XP to start in a "clean boot" State
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/310353/en-us
Note: When you are finished troubleshooting, follow the steps as explained in the article to reset the computer to start as usual.

So I ask you to install the Windows Xp Service Pack 3 for stable performance.
It improves the reliability of Windows by installing updates to software - new drivers for hardware and much more.
