Hide a button when a pdf file is opened?

Hi all

I created a PDF form using LiveCycle 8.0 who must hide or disable (or the other would be nice) a button when the pdf file is first opened, as there are already entries by the user text in a form field. This would be due to users opening, enter data into the text field and then have backed up previously.

Here's the javascript code I've tried so far.

var k is form1. Table.subject.Paragraph.subject_name.rawValue;

If (k.length! = 0) {}

Form1. Button1.presence = 'Hidden ';

Form1. Button1.access = "readOnly";

}

I put the code in the "docReady', ' form: ready ' and ' layout: ready ' events of my form, but when I open the form after the recording of the text in the text field, the button is always visible to the closing and reopening of the form.

The weird part is, if I set the 'Default' text box property to any value non-zero and test it in the Preview tab, it works!

It seems that even if the default property is defined (and detected) by the events above before all entries by the user (and saved) text is loaded into the text box on a form fields, so what I'm checking do appear to be capture input by the user to the point that they are triggered.

Basically, I'm asking how to check for text entered by the user (i.e. is not part of the 'default' text field property) in a text field and then disable or hide a button on the form on the pdf being opened?

What events should have my code in them?

If it's "layout: ready", which?  That of the shape, the text field or button I want to hide?

Thanks in advance for all replies,

DJF

Thanks to all for the replies.

I solved the problem.  My script just wasn't running.  I forgot to open the form in Acrobat Pro and do a ' advanced-> enable usage rights in Adobe Reader.  As soon as I did, everything went very well.

Thanks again help him!

    V11.0.12 XI and IE11 Acrobat. Hyperlink inside PDF is a blue rectangle and links to another PDF. When PDF is opened in Acrobat, the link works. When opened in any browser (IE, Firefox, Chrome) the link does not work. How can I get the link to work in browsers?

    I think it is a bug. I uninstalled Acrobat and reinstalled Acrobat v11.0.0. I tried the link and it works properly. Then, I installed each both updated and tested the hyperlink. Update 1-10, that the link works. However, when the 11.0.11 update is installed, the "Go to a page in another document" hyperlink stops working in browsers. V11.0.12 installation does not solve the problem. If I uninstall Acrobat and install v11.0.0 with updated v11.0.10, everything works fine.

  • can "print image" be defined as the default value when printing PDF files?

    We have many students to connect and when they print PDF to our Lexmark printers it works best for "print image" otherwise printers get bogged down and hang sometimes. We would like to see if we can have 'print picture' it set as the default when printing PDF files?

    Hi desktopsuofslib,

    There no option in Acrobat to define 'print as image' as option by default because as soon as we opt for this option, the profile of settings is automatically replaced custom Acrobat default.

    However, I have noticed that when you use the option 'print picture' for a specific printer and print a document, that this option remains active for subsequent printings, unless you change it manually.

    You need to change your file associations so that the reader opens pdf files. How you do that depends on what operating system you are using.

  • Is there a maximum file size limit when combining pdf files

    I try to combine files 8 created PDF files with I Explore using Acrobat Standard XI, the process is finished but when opening the file, that not all of the 8 individual files were combined only the first two have been combined, process shows the eight being read and combined.

    I can open and view each of the 8 original individual files and read the content without any problems, the biggest of the eight files is 15 559 kb and the smallest is 9 435 Ko

    If anyone can help that would be most appreciated

    Hi Tayls450,

    It should not happen because there is no maximum file size limit when combining PDF files.

    Please let me know if there is some password protected PDF files also?

    Also, I suggest you to choose the "Repair the Installation of Acrobat" option in the Help menu.

  • What is the sequence when a PDF file is generated?

    I would like to know the sequence of events when a PDF file is generated from InDesign CS4 using the Adobe PDF 7.0 printer. PostScript is involved somehow before the PDF is generated and I would like to have a better understanding of what is happening.

    Acrobat Help says:

    In an application such as Adobe InDesign, use the command print with the Adobe PDF printer to convert your file in Adobe PDF format. Your source document is converted to PostScript and sent directly to Distiller for conversion to PDF, without manually starting Distiller. Preferably current Distiller and Adobe PDF settings are used to convert the file.

    It is the a delicate, at least for me, because the explanation is confusing. My problem is the following: under InDesign > file > print > printer I have a PDF Adobe 7.0 (as well as my regular printers), and I don't know who 'Adobe PDF settings' are currently designated.

    QUESTION 1

    The expression of aid:

    Preferably current Distiller and Adobe PDF settings are used to convert the file

    is that the fact of Distiller > Preferences, and Distiller > settings Adobe PDF (the main window to distill)?

    QUESTION 2

    When I select the Adobe PDF 7.0 printer and press print, InDesign creates Postscript itself, or he asks using Acrobat or Distiller?

    QUESTION 3

    At some point before I get the PDF, a Postscript file will be launched, and it's "fairly directly to Distiller for conversion to PDF. At this stage, the Postscript file only is all the options that I asked in the print of InDesign dialog box (exit, Advanced Graphics, transparency and so on)? Or has there been some back-and-forth discussions between the Distiller (and its parameters) and InDesign (and its print settings) to solve all the conflicts?

    In short, is it correct to say that InDesign creates Postscript by itself (subject to its print settings), and then distilling takes Postscript from InDesign and converts it to PDF format (subject to its own parameters).

    Are you talking about export or print to PDF?

    Exported PDF files is not converted to postscript at all. It is exported

    directly to PDF using the libraries PDF internal.

    When you print to PDF, InDesign creates a postscript file, as it would

    What impression on any standard printer and Distiller converts that to

    PDF. Distiller simply acts as a virtual printer.

    The postscript created by InDesign file contains all the options work

    selected in InDesign - as would any postscript file everything

    printer.

    In summary, Yes.

    But you really should be export directly from InDesign and avoid

    the PostScript scene altogether...

  • PDF files not opening not in IE11, tried using Adobe Acrobat and also DC. PDF, downloads and opens outside IE11

    Is anyone able to help!

    We have recently improved our system of IE11 company and we have a lot of problems regarding the opening of PDF files now. We use desktop computers Windows 7 64 bit and I tested on Windows 8.1 and it works fine.

    Let's go to the below URL and does preview now work (this link is in the public domain), there is a black box and the white cross where it overview PDF should be.

    http://www.FCA.org.UK/your-FCA/documents/requirement-notices/Ariste-holding-limited-vreq

    Also when you click on "Download" on the same page, sometimes, a download box will appear in IE to the button saying he doesn't have to download and press 'Retry' when you press retry it downloads and the PDF opens outside the IE. This is despite the add-on Adobe reader set 'enabled '... Sometimes it will open the PDF file outside immediately. However, we really need open the PDF file to open it in Internet Explorer, so we can enter the URL. Oddly enough if you disabled and enable the Adobe PDF Reader add-on it will open in the Internet Explorer browser until you close the window of IE (However the preview still doesn't!)

    I tried to install Adobe reader DC and it worked on my machine, but then when I unrolled to others it did not work! The preview works for me and also a PDF file opens in the browser always (even after a reboot). However, when I installed this for others it was the same result do not load the preview and the opening outside the IE. The strange turn had similar results as before. I connect to PCs others and it works very well but their profile it doesn't. I have reset their server profiles, but it's still a question! As I log in machines of others and it works there seem not to be a PC problem?

    I have searched extensively on the internet and tried all kinds of clearing cache, reset Internet Explorer settings, tabprocgrowth reg, repaired the software adobe reader and adobe reader DC, closed in protection in reader mode, compatibility mode

    I am really at my wits end... someone can help please!

    No preview.png

    It looks like this case has finally be resolved - we have installed an Adobe security update and it seems to have fixed all of the issues around this now.

  • Is my pdf file is opened in an iphone/ipad?

    Hello.

    I'm having a huge problem with pdf.

    I have this file with acrobat, I created, and I have to send it to someone else. The problem is that they said "Please, be sure that your pdf file is opened in an iphone or an ipad without fault."

    How will I know if it is ocmpatible? I own a windows computer and I don't have an ipad or an iphone.

    Thank you!

    If it's a plain "Vanilla" PDF (that is to say without any form fields, media

    elements, scripts, etc.). There should be no problem to open and view

    an iPad/iPhone (provided that there is an application installed that can open it, of)

    course).

  • Save button to a PDF file in Adobe Reader App Android?

    I am a software developer and recently made a web site for one of our customers where they download in PDF format to fill, fill them out and then upload them to the site. While this works fine on a desktop computer, we had problems with them doing this process of their tablets (Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 10.1). After the meeting with them, we discovered that when he thought they were 'save' files, they were in fact "feel" PDF files into a PDF file new, which caused the documents read-only and is no longer to fill. We discovered that you can save changes to the PDF files and keep them on the screen by pressing the home button in the Adobe Reader application to 'close' the open PDF fillable.

    Is it possible to save a PDF file in the Adobe Reader app for android (as a record button) as it saves the changes to the file, but still allows the PDF to be complete? The current solution, we found with "closure" of the current file by pressing the button home work, but I was wondering if there was a simpler way more clear/Save the file.

    Hi Chris,

    Once you fill out a form and close it, it gets automatically saved to your device. When you open the file the next time, your form will always be complete. There is no other way to save the file.

    Thank you.
