Hide updated items in windows vista

is there a way to hide individual items to update, I didn't need? like all language packs, or the fact, I receive all kinds of updates to office 2002 - which does not install anyway - because I have only a single application - editing photo - this pack installed? There should be a box ' hide ' so I don't get unnecessary reminders and updates just highlight new things, that I really need.

Hi pablo_I

Thank you for using answers.microsoft.com

To hide the update, you are talking about

1. open IE and go directly to the Windows Update site:

http://www.windowsupdate.com

2. click on 'Custom Installation' to scan your system (not Express Installer).

3. Once finished, please uncheck the incorrect update.

(Uncheck the box next to it.)

4. Select "don't show me this update again"

(Check the box next to the title of the update itself).

5 scan the computer again to verify the result.

Give me more information if that solves the problem or if no assistance is required.

Kind regards

    CMDC,
If the SFC was not able to repair files then the best thing to do is to reinstall Windows.  You can try running a disk error check, if it fixes all of the problems, and then rerun the SFC and then install and run the System Update tool.  If there is still a problem with the SFC nto be able to complete then you should do a reinstall.

Only the specific return code can be solved by running system, aka CheckSUR update readiness tool -.

Description of the preparation tool system update for Windows Vista for Windows Server 2008, for Windows 7 and for Windows Server 2008 R2

CheckSUR for taken over all the versions of basic x 86 (32 bit) Windows Vista

When you are prompted to save CheckSUR, choose to not run it.
When the download is complete, close all open programs and browsers.

If the installed antivirus is Firewall Norton/McAfee party or a 3rd is used, then suggest you first boot system configuration before you run it.

NOTE: In the clean boot state will be disabled all firewalls of part 3. Ensure that the native Vista firewall is now enabled - enable Windows Firewall on or off

    Now run CheckSUR (. Windows6 0-KB947821-v12-x 86.msu).
Restart the system for the same configuration of boot clean and do a check for updates in Windows Update in Control Panel.
If the system can search, detect, download, and install updates now, save an update of a subsequent test.

If the system can or cannot now, cancel the clean boot configuration and restart in normal Windows mode.
See if the registered update installs now.

If the system still cannot install the updates, please copy and paste the contents of one of the newspapers that CheckSUR created when he ran. They are located in and are named

    Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log
    Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.persist.log

If the system can install the updates in the clean boot configuration, but not in normal mode of Windows, then there are 3rd party software which is the origin of the update installation problem.

After having decided to install the Windows Update my computer told me was available all my software as my programs MS Offfice is no longer open.  I don't know what to do.  The only thing that still works is the Windows Media Player.  I can't open Word or Excel, I can't access my photos.  Open Internet Explorer is like a weird nightmare but I am able to access the Internet.  I tried reinstalling my MS Office software, which did not work.  I have no idea what to do to solve the problem, but I need my computer back. It was good except for its slow, when I open certain programs, now I can't access something.  Any ideas what I should do to correct the nightmare?
