• Satellite P200 - need CPU fan replacement

  I have a Satellite P200-16V and my problem is on the cpu fan.

  I tried to open it, but after the keyboard, hard drive, Rams, OVOCHECK and 40-50 screws and some cables, I realized I have to get out the motherboard and screen mabe and I close it again after 3-4 hours. The cpu fan has been breaking and I don't know what to do.

  I am from Greece. If I go to the toshiba in Greece, I can find a cpu fan or any system cpu radiator? Can you help me?

  Looks like the fan needs to be replaced and therefore, you should contact the closest service provider authorized in your country. Guys can order a replacement part and swap it out.

  Sorry, but everything that s what I can say. Here it s only a user forum so I think no one knows the exact number of part or a manual how to take apart the laptop but the ASP can do for you. :)

• Satellite 2450 - PXE error after upgrade of the 40 GB HARD drive

  I have a Satellite 2450 and have just replaced my 30 GB drive with a 40 GB drive and trying to use the recovery disk, I get the error PXE.

  I understand that I need to change the boot order of LAN, but when I have the power by pressing F12 it lets me select the CD/DVD drive, and then gives me the same error.

  Any help is received with gratitude.

  It seems that the CD/DVD drive cannot read the disc, and therefore the BIOS passes to LAN and try to boot from LAN.
  In this case you will receive the error check cable PXE.

  Did you check if you can use another bootable disk?
  I mean you can try to install Windows using the Win XP disk
  Maybe booting from another disc would work

  The hinges on my * Satellite 2450-201 * are turned away.
  Are the hinges on the - 101 previous model the same i.e. P000368300 and P000368310 and if so, are still available. If not, can anyone advise please.

  I think you should get in touch with a local ASP (partner).
  The ASP can help you order the right parts.

  Because this laptop is an oldie, I doubt that you get these pieces from an online retailer
  However, google may provide you with some offers if you are looking for unique part numbers

  In any case, all the possible parts could be ordered in service partner as I said above, for me, it looks like an easier way to get these parts.

• Satellite Pro A60: hinges are broken - need new parts

  I have a satellite Pro A60, unfortunately no longer under warranty. One of the screws which fix the hinges to the frame has sheared which means the hinge must be replaced.

  When I removed the top cover (it covers a bunch of inches at the back of the laptop, I noticed the two hinges were cracked.) This allows the hinge of the left hand to oscillate (as the only thing now that the screen of the laptop is the only one to live.

  Basically the two hinges need to be replaced because the only thing now the screen of the laptop (on the right side) is the clip on the cover! It works pretty well, but of course it will put additional pressure on the left side then, probably won't be too long prior to the screw on the left side shears off.

  any kind soul here would know the numbers for the left and right hinges?

  I have a top of the range (at time of purchase) by Satellite 502 901 (2.4 Ghz, 80 GB, 512 MB ram, son of the late, display 1600 x 1200, pentium 4 mobile, docking Bay slot...). Unfortunately, after a year I had problems. The unit is now 3 years old and the hinges are broken on the screen. The DVD/CD drive also fails to operate occasionally. I also had a "Thunder fly" switch to the screen, crawling in the middle and died there, very nice.

  I still tenderly care for the laptop, while it cost me an arm and a leg. I always love the laptop despite the problems, but would like help as to where you can get help. I need the hinges of the screen (his share of the work aluminium frame in the main body of the laptop. Where can they be purchased? I live in GERMANY, but I am English and bought the laptop in Southampton England from PC World.

  If you don't find anything on eBay so the hinges and the executives of the screen you can buy or order too at the Toshiba service partner in your country. On the Toshiba support page, you will find a data base of the entire ASP worldwide.

  The screen on my Satellite 2450 lost its resistance on the hinges, its either fully open or fully closed and will not be held in position.

  The speakers or the other side of the hinge have lifted a bit, I can get in and repair the damage?

  My laptop does not work the games 'Fear' or 'Call of cthulhu.
  The errors seem to relate to the display (fear gives an empty window, even if the sound is running, then crashes. Cthulhu says that it cannot find a suitable resolution).

  The latest display driver I can find is dated 36,48 Date 02/12/2003 version.
  It looks pretty old. Is no later versions available?

  I also see that there is an update of the BIOS for my laptop - is - this may have an impact on the problem of game?

  The problem is that the graphics drivers from Toshiba are distinguished as the graphics of origin for example nVidia drivers.
  Original graphics drivers are designed for desktop use and you may not use these drivers, as they can damage the graphics chip for laptop. Graphics drivers from Toshiba support thermal protection and control the performance of the graphics card.

  As far as I know that this unit has been delivered with a NVidia GeForce4 420Go 32 MB graphics card. You can try to check out the other laptops with the same graphics card and try to use this driver.
  I also found a few topics on the omega drivers. It seems that this could be a good solution, but if you use other drivers, so you can do it at your own risk!

  If you have decided to use these drivers so please note that a proper installation order is necessary.
  First of all the Chipset utility, common modules, graphics driver, etc.

  As much as I know Satellite 2450 units uses Intel Desktop Pentium 4 Northwood processor with enhanced Intel SpeedStep technology.
  The processor runs at one of the following speeds:
  2.26 GHz (1.525volts) / 533 MHz
  2.4 GHz (1.525volts) / 533 MHz
  2.53 GHz (1.525volts) / 533 MHz
  2.66 GHz (1.525volts) / 533 MHz
  2.8 GHz (1.525volts) / 533 MHz

  In addition, you should be able to use 30 GB, 40 GB and 60 GB hard drives

  PS: I n t think you will find any manual for Toshiba units technology. These documents are not in the public interest, but only for the authorized Toshiba service partner.

  Hi, my laptop hard drive is broken and I need a hard drive replacement for my aging * Satellite 2450-101 * urgent, but I can't find my mannual and another source model support for portable computers.

  I founded you can use a second HARD drive in the Bay to select if you need more disk space.
  Drive external HARD is also a good solution for more disk space.

• Satellite 2450-S203 - installed XP SP1 of recovery CD - cannot update

  The hard drive on my Satellite 2450 S203 has not then I replaced and installed XP from the recovery CD. Everything's fine. I now have a PC running XP SP1.

  I tried the update of XP start > all progtrams > Windows update but it failed, the updated software I used was not compatible with the update site or something similar.

  I found a site of Microsoft, who said I had to install SP1a and then put to SP1a update to SP3. I downloaded the SP1a installation tool and it seemed to do things, and I'm guessing that SP1a installed OK.

  When I go to start > all programs > Windows update, the update starts OK but after a few moments, I get an error message on the Microsoft Update Server does not.

  * Question 1: *-anyone have any ideas what I should try next?

  * Question 2: * fact Toshiba have nowhere where I can download a more current version of XP - SP2 or SP3 say - so that I can eventuially happen to SP3 without SP1?

  Win XP SP1 is part of SP2. So, you can download the SP2 package from Microsoft or any other Windows pages page just google
  So after installing SP2, you can follow with SP3.

  Before you install SP3, you will need to install SP2 first
