I found some articles that show you how to remove & reinstall everything without use of the physical disks. It is to restart my MacBook, pressing command-R, will using this toerase my hard drive and disk utilities

However, when I try to wipe my drive, this error message appears: "erase disc failed with the error: failed to unmount disk.»

I have attached a picture of the error that is displayed.

On the left side of the utility window of disc (see attachment), there where hard disks are displayed, it shows the drive of 500 GB Toshiba MK. Directly below is the option "Macintosh HD."

This error ONLY appears when I try to erase the disc from Toshiba. But this allowed me to erase the hard drive Macintosh option. Why is this? My drive was nonetheless erased? Or I still have to do something else?

  • erase hard drive

I had to wipe my hard drive on Pavilion dv6. This is because malware destroyed partitions and I had to use EaseUS Recovery Wizard for data recovery. Now, I would like to format the drive, but it is impossible because the Windows CD cannot map the drive. It was very difficult to access this drive on another pc...

So I'll erase all sectors with Active KillDisk-disk and then reinstall windows. Maybe it works?

We have a Compaq Presario A900 - we want to wipe the hard drive and start over with an installation of Windows 10.

Could you please tell us the steps to do so.  Thank you.

Please provide information about the product.

I was hoping that there was at least HP Win7 drivers for your PC, allowing you to switch to Win7 and try the upgrade to Win10.

But to control your model, the latest HP drivers are for Vista.

Which practically excludes the upgrade of your PC at Win10.

  • Erase hard drive existing "Unauthorized" im said - HELP!

I would wipe my existing hard drive and reinstall, I insert the disk to format the drive, but I like the version of windows on the drive is older than my system and this prevents the formatting and to leave. I then go to work-right click-format station and this prevents me removing the existing material and the answer is the same.

I then started to remove the question a little at a time until I thought it was all gone and cela included some sectors/main program files. Now, the pc is in a good state and I did a system restore, but went so that 50% is rubbish all now.

Can you please let me know how to make a frsh start. The hard drive I use is 250 GB and has only been loaded once to date.

    Bob

This means that you have probably installed Service Pack 3, but the disk is not at this level. You can uninstall service packs and do it, and then reinstall service packs and do all the updates of Windows. Or, Google for "slipstreaming" and put your o/s and SP files on a single disc.

If you run utility disc Erase then starts normally internal drive in the iMac, you can not erase the internal drive.

You'll need boot from the optical drive with a disc to install Mac OS X inside.  Replace with the C key.  From the screen of the installer, you can run disk utility.  Then you will be able to make a deletion on the internal drive.  There should be a button on the Erase tab that says something like Of Security Options.  To make your personal data are erased sunk, click this button and choose reset data.  You can choose an option with several passes, but it takes much more time, and one pass should be good enough.  When the deletion is complete, quit disk utility and perform an installation on the internal drive recently self-effacing.  When the iMac restarts and allows you configuration screens, you can stop.

  • How can I erase hard drive?

    Reinstall?

The answer depends on whether you have a retail or generic OEM Windows XP CD or you have a computer where the system was created with a customized version of Windows XP with a backup stored in a restore partition.

With a detail or generic OEM Windows XP CD, you get the option during the process of the instalation to format the drive. This erases the contents of the disc. With a customized version of Windows XP if you choose to restore the copy of Windows XP from the recovery partition, this deletes all files on the C (System) partition existing...

If you want to erase all traces of files on a disk, you need to write data on the location where the deleted files on the disc. Put in shape then make all previous files unrecoverable by most users. There may be file recovery techniques that will stilll show what the drive previously contained but few will know how to play files in this situation.

    Hello

My title says about the history. My hard drive (XP) died and the local tech confirmed is not a replacement value (it's an old machine).

I have a MacBook and that you have loaded Parallels on it so that I can run Windows. Now I want to install XP on the MacBook, but I don't have the installation disc.

    1. is there somewhere I can download it from?

    2. once I have it loaded, my product key will work?

3 anything else I should be aware of when to load XP on a MacBook?

    Thank you

    Thanks for the reply.

I bought the laptop used on ebay from a company that has sold thousands of refurbished machines. I know that she buys lots of companies that no longer need them, wipe data, reinstalling Windows and then sell them. Installing XP is legitimate, because the laptop has a certificate of Authenticity on the back Microsoft.

So I suspect that the Windows installation is not related to the motherboard.

    Other thoughts?

    Thanks again.

It is quite possible that XP has been reinstalled on your computer using an OEM disc "generic" as well as your product key from the computer.  However, the product key itself is linked to the motherboard.

For example, my son recently bought a used computer from a friend.  The friend had removed the original hard drive and replaced it with a smaller.  The computer has been a mess, but that's another story.  No installation disk came with the computer, however, it doesn't have the product key on the back of the case.  I replaced the hard drive with one more great I had on hand and then used an OEM disc 'generic' to reinstall XP, which works perfectly with the product key of the computer.  However, this computer must die, product key can be moved to any other computer.  The product key is the original computer motherboard.

In short, a product key of your laptop if it is by the OEM product key, will not work on another computer.  No matter how legitimate the software's product key will not work on another computer, it is not transferable.  Product keys for the full retail version of Windows can be moved to another computer; However, the key to product can only be used on one computer at a time.  If the computer in question is delivered with Windows XP preinstalled, it is extremely unlikely that nothing else than the version the manufacturer OEM has been used.

  • Installation of Windows on a new hard drive

I have a computer I want to get a new, more large hard drive. The vehicle currently has Windows Vista installed on it and the hard drive still works, I just need more space. What should I do to install Windows on the new drive? I will use the installation disc that came with the computer. If I get out the old hard drive, install a new one, put Windows on the new, then format the old one? Basically, I want to avoid having Windows installed on two hard drives to work.

    Hello

the steps you have mentioned are correct:

take out the old hard disk - the new drive hard install - reinstall vista - old erase hard drive

You can then use a the old hard drive to backup your data

and read too much about the displacement of the full to avoid you operating system having to load data and programs again. but then you still wipe the old disk

It might make you save time and effort:

hard drive manufacturers will normally provide the cloning software to move your operating system installed from the old to the new hard disk

Search for information on this subject on their Web site

If you have vista business or ultimate, you can use the builtin vista complete PC Backup to move

    read the information below

    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial145.html

or if you have vista home version you'll need 3rd party software

link below is an example of this:

  • Hard Drive wipe with certification/reports/logs

    Hello

I hope someone could suggest me some software that can be used to erase a hard drive, but I must have a file/report of the newspaper to confirm successful deletion of the reader.

I've tried Active @ Killdisk which is perfect, but I would also like to other trial in the interest of fairness.

Please if anyone has any suggestions let me know.

    Thank you.

Did you consult with Bing or Google to see what other programs are there?  This seems like a request that is somewhat beyond our target audience - most Windows Home users don't need to erase hard drives with reports and save files to document the measures taken.
