Early 2006 iMac erase hard drive

I have an iMac that I want to make a donation.  I found a number of options in the focus groups, but they do not work with my model.  I go to the tab clear in disk utility and the only option is to delete.   I will lose the version of Mac OS X on the machine?  It doesn't give me any options for the action type erasure.

I'm confused,

If you run utility disc Erase then starts normally internal drive in the iMac, you can not erase the internal drive.

You'll need boot from the optical drive with a disc to install Mac OS X inside.  Replace with the C key.  From the screen of the installer, you can run disk utility.  Then you will be able to make a deletion on the internal drive.  There should be a button on the Erase tab that says something like Of Security Options.  To make your personal data are erased sunk, click this button and choose reset data.  You can choose an option with several passes, but it takes much more time, and one pass should be good enough.  When the deletion is complete, quit disk utility and perform an installation on the internal drive recently self-effacing.  When the iMac restarts and allows you configuration screens, you can stop.

I have attached a picture of the error that is displayed.

  • Use disk utility to erase hard drive, erase everything, it

I just use disk utility to erase the hard drive of Windows base.  It has 6,2 GB of space.  The erase process takes only a few seconds.

I had to wipe my hard drive on Pavilion dv6. This is because malware destroyed partitions and I had to use EaseUS Recovery Wizard for data recovery. Now, I would like to format the drive, but it is impossible because the Windows CD cannot map the drive. It was very difficult to access this drive on another pc...

So I'll erase all sectors with Active KillDisk-disk and then reinstall windows. Maybe it works?

    Hello

Go to Device Manager, right click on the unknown device 1 and select Properties.  Click on the Details tab, choose hardware ID in the drop-down list and post back with the details presented in the title of the value.

Repeat this step for each "unknown device".

  • Compaq Presario A900: erase hard drive

We have a Compaq Presario A900 - we want to wipe the hard drive and start over with an installation of Windows 10.

Could you please tell us the steps to do so.  Thank you.

    KatMc

Please provide information about the product.

I was hoping that there was at least HP Win7 drivers for your PC, allowing you to switch to Win7 and try the upgrade to Win10.

But to control your model, the latest HP drivers are for Vista.

Which practically excludes the upgrade of your PC at Win10.

  • Erase hard drive existing "Unauthorized" im said - HELP!

I would wipe my existing hard drive and reinstall, I insert the disk to format the drive, but I like the version of windows on the drive is older than my system and this prevents the formatting and to leave. I then go to work-right click-format station and this prevents me removing the existing material and the answer is the same.

I then started to remove the question a little at a time until I thought it was all gone and cela included some sectors/main program files. Now, the pc is in a good state and I did a system restore, but went so that 50% is rubbish all now.

Can you please let me know how to make a frsh start. The hard drive I use is 250 GB and has only been loaded once to date.

    Bob

This means that you have probably installed Service Pack 3, but the disk is not at this level. You can uninstall service packs and do it, and then reinstall service packs and do all the updates of Windows. Or, Google for "slipstreaming" and put your o/s and SP files on a single disc.

  • iMac G3 Hard Drive questions

Hello, I know that this product is likely to get out of the support, but I still have questions. I have a summer 2001 iMac G3 (600 MHz, 10.4.11) in a small collection, and when I use it, it runs pretty slow. It takes a lot of loading time of some applications, and at first I thought it was just because of his age. But then, out of curiosity, I opened disk utility and got this message after checking the disk:

    Check the volume "Macintosh HD"

    HFS Plus volume control.

    Checking Extents Overflow file.

    Check the file catalog.

    Invalid sibling link

The volume Macintosh HD needs to be repaired.

Error: The underlying task reported error exit

    1 HFS volume verified

    Volume needs to be repaired

When I went to repair the disk, he couldn't do that, probably because to remove the single drive there, which is understandable.  And, after reading how to fix the drive in disk utility, I found that I need an OS X installation disc. However, I have lost the installation for 10.4.11 disc, but I have Mac OS 9.1, OS X 10.0, 10.1 and 10.3. I wonder: it will still be possible to repair the disk, even if they don't run 10.4, or do I have to have the same operating system as the hard disk?

Second: If it is possible to repair the disk with a Setup disk that is not 10.4, I'll be able to install one of these operating systems (9.1, 10.0 or 10.3) and keep 10.4.11 in its place? Or do I remove 10.4 and install one of these systems?

    Thanks for all your comments!

It is a mistake to directory and you would be better off buying "DiskWarrior" of Alsoft to fix it.  It has always been a much more effective solution to correct severely damaged, as Apple Disk first aid or utility disk directories with success.  Check out the details on their website.

  • How can I erase hard drive?

    Reinstall?

The answer depends on whether you have a retail or generic OEM Windows XP CD or you have a computer where the system was created with a customized version of Windows XP with a backup stored in a restore partition.

With a detail or generic OEM Windows XP CD, you get the option during the process of the instalation to format the drive. This erases the contents of the disc. With a customized version of Windows XP if you choose to restore the copy of Windows XP from the recovery partition, this deletes all files on the C (System) partition existing...

If you want to erase all traces of files on a disk, you need to write data on the location where the deleted files on the disc. Put in shape then make all previous files unrecoverable by most users. There may be file recovery techniques that will stilll show what the drive previously contained but few will know how to play files in this situation.

    Hope this helps, Gerry Cornell

  • IMac with Fusion Hard Drive - HD Setup for video editing

    Hello

I just ordered a new iMac with the following specifications just for video editing:

iMac 27 "Quad - Core Intel Core i7 3.5 GHz

    8 GB RAM

3 disc Fusion to - [I] I got this configuration with the merger of 3 TB for much due to the fact that it was a mixed open-box, otherwise I would of went with an SSD. [/ I]

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780MX with 4 GB of GDDR5

My question is: what is the best way for me to set up my hard drives (Cache OS, programs, file, media, media, projects, previews, exports, etc.) for editing with this iMac and hard drives that I own?

I currently use a combination of a HD Lacie Raid - 0 6 TB and 1.5 TB OWC FW - 800 Raid-0 for video editing on my MBP that has a 750 GB HD SSD and oem.

    iMac installation:

3 to Fusion: operating system, programs, parallel

6 TB Lacie Raid: video/media storage disk

1 TB OWC USB 3 external:

Several OWB FW - 800 external references:

I might consider to get a 1 to Lacie thunderbolt HD, though it will have a significant advantage.

I'm intent on obtaining a raid of the Rainbow-8050 somewhere down the line, but that is out of my budget right now.

In addition, I already know the standard of the guidelines for the use of the disc which is in the link below, but since the iMac cannot be configured with multiple HDs, I'm looking for suggestions of knowledge of people with this type of installation.

I'm already a user of Areca (32 terabytes on Raid6). As you have a capable TB2 iMac that I would wait for the next version of the Areca 5080 TB2.

I suggest you a configuration of data 3 step; for example the project files on an external drive and Fusion cache on external SSD and based on external Raid 0 and as the third step one backup (BR, external drives, LTO, basically everything what is available or practical).
