HKLM\SYSTEM | CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters - > TcpNumConnections

What is the value from the registry: "HKLM\SystemCurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters--> TcpNumConnections = 0 x 00000064'. Not just any kind of malware

According to microsoft, but scanner spotted by Norman Malware Cleaner and quarentined. He re appears shortly after re-booting.

See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314053

"Description: this parameter limits the maximum number of connections that TCP can have open at the same time."

This value is not normally present in a 'stock' of XP registry.  Norman is probably on the assumption that some malicious software added to allow multiple concurrent TCP connections (typical P2P applications).

As far as I know, however, this parameter is ignored in XP Home and XP Pro, which limit the number of simultaneous incoming connections to 5 or 10, respectively based on hard coded in tcpip.sys.  http://support.Microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;314882

Of course, this limit is incoming connections, so we could be able to have more than 5 or 10 outbound connections, but the level of detail is beyond me.

  • cleaning hklm\system\CurrentControlSet\Control\Network

    Background: after several attempts to fix a virtual adapter installed by Oracle VirtualBox, I seem to end up with a bunch of orphaned entries in the registry referenced key.  Normally, when the product is installed, it creates a network called "VirtualBox in Ethernet Adapter" adapter, running on 192.168.56.1 (in general).  The last few iterations the installation is completed, but with the message 'cannot rename this connection. "  A check "ipconfig - a" shows an adapter named simply "Local 3 network connection Ethernet card" on this address.  As a result of other tracks, I arrived at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Network\ {4D36E972-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}, where the higher level revealed a link with the NAME of 'VirtualBox networking' property, as well as a connection with the NAME property of "Local 3" network connection.  My working theory is that VBox first creates an adapter with a generic name, then trying to rename 'VirtualBox networking', but somewhere along the line, the "VirtualBox networking" connection name has been suspended on the left and resulted in the error message and the adapter on the left with the generic name.  In addition, the same registry key shows several connections named "Local Area Connection * n", where n is a number between 2 and 21, inclusive, plus one without a number after the asterisk ("' Local Area Connection *" ")

    Now, to post here because I would like to clean whateve mess is indicated by the present.  There are some parts of the registry that I'm used to piracy, but this isn't one of them.  Is it safe to just delete one of these attachments? Or are they cross - referenced somewhere else and I'd end up breaking all my network?  What are all these "" Local area connection * ' keys? "  are they orphans left-top, or place holders to be usable and name change?  If the orphans, which is the safest way to clean them?

    I am running Vista Home Premium, 16-bit. I recently tried to re - install a CAD program that worked on the system before installation of Service Pack 2. A message appears reading: SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\VirtualDeviceDrivers, format of pilot of virtual device in the registry is invalid. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application. The installation is not successful. I tried to add the VirtualDeviceDriver key in the registry as suggested in this forum for similar problems, but this did not make a difference. Please let know us other solutions.

  • RESTful Service search parameters

    Hello

    I use APEX 4.2.2... with earphone 2.0.3

    I want to expose data in the EMP table as a RESTful Service with parameters:

    The source is:

    Source type: SQL query.Format: JSON

    select * from emp where
    (:job IS NULL OR job = :job)
     and
    (:ename is null or ename = :ename)

    Model of the URI:employeesfeed / {job} / {ename}

    If I use this URL, it works very well...

    http://oraclesrv/real_estate/property/HR/employeesfeed/Manager/Blake

    and this gives:

    {"next":{"$ref":"http://oraclesrv/real_estate/property/hr/employeesfeed/MANAGER/BLAKE?page=1"},"items":[{"empno":7698,"ename":"BLAKE","job":"MANAGER","mgr":7839,"hiredate":"1981-04-30T20:00:00Z","sal":2850,"deptno":30}]}

    But, as you will notice may be in the logic of the Source, the "end user" should be able to retrieve all MANAGERS using this link.

    http://oraclesrv/real_estate/property/HR/employeesfeed/Manager/null

    But, this gives:

    {"items": []}

    So, how can I retrieve all managers? (using this Source).

    Kind regards

    The four letters (n, u, l, and l) at the end of your URL are a string of length 4.

    Basically, you make this comparison:

    'null' is null (which is false)

    If you want to keep this syntax, add

    or upper(:job) = 'NULL '.

  • Need to find %SystemRoot%\WinSxS\folder_name to find missing the module system restore service

    My ability to do a system restore is zilch.

    It turns out that my laptop Win 8.1 is unable to run sys restore due to the service being missing module.

    And I have to work around that and implement a registry key to make a correction.

    I have no idea where the file % SystemRoot%\WinSxS\folder_name.

    All this to fix the error 126 in services.msc

    I had many times where a reinstall of my computer would do the trick - however, I don't want to lose everything.

    System Restore is a feature that I use, and it works at all.  Pretty disappointing - it's always something.

    my system downloaded and installed service pack 1, yet auto update keeps popping up telling me to instal it?

    Hi Jerry,

    1. How have you installed service pack 1 before? Is it through Windows update?

    2. have you checked the Windows update history?

    Check if the Service pack is already isntalled on the computer. Follow the steps.
    1. Right click on "computer".
    2. In the system of the Details check if section Serivce pack is mentioned.

    If the Service pack is not installed, then you can download the stand-alone package for Service Pack 1 and install.

    See the article to download the stand alone Service Pack 1, and then run the installation.

  • BSOD in Windows 8 memory exception error System & Management Service.

    Dear all,

    I recently bought a lenovo U410 of the United States. I've been using this computer in Germany since the week last in Germany. Over the last week I had to re install OS 8 on my computer. After re-installation, I was often do a lot of memory management & Service Exception BSOD errors. How can I rectify this?
    We need the DMP file because it contains the single record of the sequence of events that led to the accident, what drivers have been loaded, and what has been loaded.

    WE NEED AT LEAST TWO FILES DMP TO SPOT TRENDS AND TO CONFIRM THE DIAGNOSIS.

    If you're overclocking (pushing components beyond their design) return you to default at least until the crash is resolved. If you don't know what it is that you're probably not overclocking.
    You may be able to get the DMP files without crashing by booting in SafeMode (F8) with networking.
    If you are overclocking stop.  (chances are that if you are unsure if you are, you are not)
    To allow us to help you with symptoms BSOD on your computer, download the contents of your folder "\Windows\Minidump".
    The procedure:
    * Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another location (temporary) somewhere on your machine.
    * Zip up the copy (compress)
    * Please download to a service like Skydrive or "Rapidshare" to share files and put a link to them in your answer.
    Link to find out how to download below.
    To ensure the minidumps are enabled:
    * Click Start, in the search box, type: sysdm.cpl, press ENTER.
    * On the Advanced tab, click Startup and recovery... Settings button.
    * Make sure that automatically restart is unchecked.
    * Under the writing debugging information header, select image partial memory (256 KB) in the list box drop-down (varies from 256kb).
    * Ensure to that small Dump Directory is listed as % systemroot%\Minidump.
    * OK your way out.
    * Reboot if changes have been made.
    Please also run MSinfo32 and download the output as well.
    To run MSinfo32 please go to start > run > MSinfo32
    Go to 'file', 'save' and download the PDF is saved with the DMP
    System specs are extremely useful then please include everything you know.

    Blue screen view and that crashed are often wrong and should only be used in case of emergency...

  • Oracle PL/SQL Web service - dynamic parameters... possible?

    Oracle 11.2.0.3 - newbie on web services!

    Currently we have a pl/sql web service takes 2 static parameters and return a response of varchar2.

    Asked me today if it is possible for a web service in a dynamic set of parameters and return a set of results. It's as if I have to pass the web service a table with two columns and return an array from a column.

    For example:
                        Input                          Output
              1 2                             3
              3 4                             7
              5 6                            11
    of course in XML output. Is it possible?

    p.s. I posted this in OC4J also - no response so the re-post!

    Parameters related to the procedures. Web services require XML messages.

    Where are the settings? You cannot pass a dynamic number of parameters in a procedure, but you can pass a structured as a parameter type that can contain multiple values, either a table/collection type or document XML itself.

    All package values in the XML file and pass it to the web service.

    If this isn't answering your question, please post more information, with some sample data and code. Read the FAQ: {message identifier: = 9360002}
