[Home] Remote Desktop connection

BASIC: I am trying to remote connect to another computer on my home network. I have trouble gettnig my head around the whole concept. I know that I need to have the name of host or IP address of the machine, but it is al I know.

The two machines are connected with WAP used in accordance with my home router.

I installed and re-installed my Vista (Home premium) 2 times already because of the remote desktop connection.  I have a problem connecting from another laptop running windows 7 to connect to my desktop running Vista.  The remote control works on the other hand the meaning of desktop running vista, laptop running windows 7 Professional.
Looking at the Vista under \System\Remote setting\Remote tab which shows the remote assistance box, but the Office box where you can choose what type of connection can be established remotely is missing.

I went though all as responses to forum, but nothing helped.  Even in a "sfc/scannow" command prompt running did not help.  It is said that he finds corrupted files, but it cannot solve all corrupted files.  That's why I reinstalled windows hoping to fix this problem but WITHOUT SUCCESS.

Can anyone help?  I've attached a screenshot of what I see in vista.

I need more info on how your network is configured to answer the question on the other.  How is the computer connected to the internet?  It connects wireless or cable to the router or modem or through ICS from another computer or what?  How do you change between the sharing of internet connection currently?  What happens when you try to enable both connections at the same time (or do not have two connections)?

Thank you.  The answers above, I can be able to understand the problem, because right now I really don't know how you setup and I need as much information as you can provide about it.

  • Remote Desktop connection: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit connects to the computer of Windows XP VPN

    Hi all

I am trying to establish remote desktop TO my new laptop (Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit) on my computer (Windows XP) work via a VPN. The VPN Client connects to my network to work with no problems, but when I try to use the remote desktop connection I get an error message:

Remote Desktop cannot connect to the remote computer to one of the following reasons:

    (1) remote access to the server is not enabled

    (2) the remote computer is disabled

    (3) the remote computer is not available on the network

Make sure that the remote computer is on and connected to the network, and remote access is enabled.

Items 1-3 are working well, so I guess that the problem is caused by another issue?
    I'd appreciate any help.
    Thank you
    Lou
Thanks for your response Al. To answer your qus:
    (1) cisco VPN Client for 64 - bit.

    (2) I don't know how to ping through the VPN tunnel - I don't see this option, anywhere in the Cisco customer (I'm not a professional, just a user)
    (3) Yes. Also, I can connect to the host PC via my old laptop XP (xp) of fine House, just not my new laptop (Windows 7 Home Premium) so the problem must be with my new laptop rather than at the end of the host PC.

After that you connect through the VPN tunnel open a command window, IE. go in Start > run , then type cmdand type ping DRC-hostname or IP-address-DRC ping.

    Examples:

    Ping lou - pc

    ping 192.168.1.25

  • Remote Desktop connection and file sharing

Hello, I have a technical question about file sharing.

I use a remote desktop connection to connect to the server of the company.  We are currently between the two groups of IT services (last guy retired, he will be missed!) In any case, I need to backup my desktop files locally and have 4 or 5 of these local desktop file files saved as a backup on the server.   I want to just my files desktop back mount easily on the server. And I don't know how / what to ask to do this. I just need to know what to ask.

    I'm having problems:

    1. I don't know how to configure a file to save its content on and through a secure server.

    2. There are two types of files that I am trying to backup my office.  The details are below.

    2. the first type of files are simple files of customer data, PDF files, word files, files is excellent. Thus, some records are filled with the updated forms and these files constantly increasing in number and size of the file.  A simple example of this type would be a Bill.  File grows in size and file number every week because the new files are always being added.

2B. I can't accurately describe the second type of file.  We use a program called TFP - when you open the program you load the specific customer file in a drop-down box.  Whenever you open the customer specific AMTS program saves any changes you made to this file and updates the customer file with a new date and then transfers the file from the client to a file from archive in C: drive. Basically, I want to save this file on the server of the company.

    3. can we make us safe so that data gets only shared a way?  I don't want people on the server to change my desktop files.

Feel free to ask any questions.   Thank you in advance.

Thank you N Syed, but I finally found a site that has responded to my question. Noted above, and it explains where and what file to find mstsc file and place it in the folder of the comm in VAC. However it gave me an error msg: specified file is not found. PAM handed the file system protected to system32 and instead, I created a shortcut on the desktop. and now, I'll check the link above.

Downloading and the ms support link is fine, but they do not explain where the file is located on your computer, it just says that it is loaded in your pc.

Appreciate your attempt anyway. Thank you and I am afraid that this question is closed.

    Hello

I had a similar problem in the past and found that the problem started when I installed Log Me In on the host computer.

Has not solved the problem by removing only, I had to remove the Log Me In graphic card in Device Manager.

Conclusion, the graphics card in Device Manager must have one and only good driver. Re-install the driver can also help if you have only a list.

    Good luck!!

  • Cannot print using Remote Desktop connection

I have a computer that we will called XP. XP was XP loaded on this subject. It is on a home network with ethernet etc. It has a USB Samsung CLP315 printer attached to it, which we will call SAMSUNG.  XP print SAMSUNG without any problem. SAMSUNG is shared and has the latest drivers.

    Configuration on XP
    Pilot # is 3.04.85:44
Port: USB001 virtual printer for USB Port
Sharing installed additional drivers Intel environment Windows 2000 or XP

Using Remote Desktop connection, I connect to my computer at work, that we will call the WORK that has Windows 7 above and is part of a local network. When you use Word for example on WORK, I should be able to print on SAMSUNG on XP. However SAMSUNG on XP does not present as a printer available. However, I can print from JOB printers shared on the local network or locally connected. Unfortunately, it is of limited use to me because I can not physically get the printed paper, or to know if the printed page correctly until the next day, I get to work.

I have the Settings Options on the remote desktop connection when I connect XP to WORK remotely. I think that this complies with the info I found on the knowledge base.

On the general tab, I have the correct name of the computer and user. I have "allow me to save credentials" deselected.

Local "resources" tab, "materials and resources local printers" and "Clipboard" are selected. Under 'More', 'smart cards' and 'Cards series' are selected. Similarly 'Readers' and 'Supported peripheral Plug - n Play' and their subitems are all selected.

    Tab programs not specified

If there is other information in the options that may be relevant, please advise and I will detail later.

Already XP used to via the desktop connection to remotely connect to another computer to WORK which took place of XP. When I'd do things on the WORK and wanted to print with SAMSUNG on XP, SAMSUNG has shown on the list of available printers and would print WORK jobs

On the local network at the office, WORK is connected and print to a shared printer on a computer showroom (XP) which is identical to the SAMSUNG for model # and driver. So by my way of thinking, the driver is already loaded and functioning.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Good somehow I try to connect to my remote friends computer and it has a windows 7 and I already configured on his computer. I already forwarded Ports on his computer, his static IP, added exception to the firewall, including Norton Internet Security Firewall 2013, so his remote desktop connection is good. But my computer is a Windows Vista Home Premium, but somehow, it wont let me connect it keeps telling in a dialog box with this error:

But it's is not my friends computer problem, its my computer, I would have never been able to use Remote Desktop on my computer, I have no idea why. I also configured with my router Embarq EQ 660 - R in the NAT rule SUA Port 3389 with my routers IP. But somewhere in my firewall, it doesn't let me use the same TCP 3389 port, it won't let me enter any number of his strange. Well, I have the screen shot a photo so I'll attach the image so you can see what I mean. But I already have my friends computer sent a static router IP configured on him and on his router port everything worked fine, but the problem is mine, don't let me not the port before my router only if I use the NAT option and entering into the rule of SUA, in which I made with port 3389 , and my default gateway static IP.  I also added an exception to my Windows Firewall and also my Norton Internet Security firewall, 2013 including the application, but still somehow, it does not work. On my router, if I try to put the port range: 3389 to 3389. Added the name of Service like RDP, Type of Service: TCP. Also, I made my public computer static IP a little go.
