How 2 WinXP SP3 laptop to connect to each other & share files between them?

Both run WinXP SP3 & all have two ethernet 10/100 cards & an ethernet cable to connect them.  I just want to be able to transfer files between them without having to use a USB key.  Regardless, both can access internet via WiFi. I tried to run the Configuration Wizard from the network several times but they do not always see them.  I need an answer in plain & simple English that my ability to speak geekinese gone with DOS6.22.  My conversational geekinese went out with Win98.

  • If 2 Airport extreme can stay connected to each other using their LAN ports?

    Hello friends,

I would like to know if 2 Airport extreme or 1 Airport Extreme and Airport Express can stay connected to each other using LAN ports at the ends? I thought this is the LAN port 1 connected to the WAN port on the 2nd.

    Thank you

To clarify the issue and the scenario, one of my friend described a typical scenario in which there are 2 AEs. AE1 has an ISP in its port WAN and AE2 has a different ISP in its WAN port. This 2 AE can mutually connected between them by using ports LAN AE1 and AE2 ethernet cable? He said this could be feasible if AE2 remained in bridged mode, without using the ISP attached to its WAN port. I just don't get how this is possible. Friends of the search help.

  • How can I share files between Windows 7 Pro and a Mac with os x?

I have Windows 7 Professional and my colleague had a Mac with os x installed. We are physically in the same room, sharing a wifi connection. How to share files between two computers? That each of them should do on his computer?

If you display links, please check beforehand that the procedure for the mac is here. I found in the internet or other of the procedures for older systems Win or network only between Win 7 PCs.

    MOSH

Of course, you can do it easily. In fact, the implementation of sharing on Win7 last month was almost as easy as it is on OS X.  ;-) I find that the snow leopard has the same bugginess of show Windows machines only randomly in the sharing of the Finder section, as it did in Leopard, however. I usually connect to Windows machines by opening a window of Finder and using go > connect to server > smb://Windows-computer-name instead. In the Win7 box, I have the network to the desktop icon (you can get this to customize > change icon).

On OS X, make sure you have checked in the file sharing system preferences > sharing. Click the Options button, and then select "share files and folders using SMB." Add the shared directories as you wish.

You must create accounts/passwords user on the Mac and Windows 7. You do not need to be logged into the same account on all machines and assigned to each user account passwords can be different; accounts/passwords just need to exist and to match on all machines. DO NOT NEGLECT TO CREATE PASSWORDS, EVEN IF ONLY OF SIMPLE. If you want a machine to boot directly to the desktop in Win7 (a particular user account) for convenience, you can do this.

Start > Search box > type: netplwiz [Enter]
Click continue (or provide an administrator password) when you are prompted by UAC

Uncheck "users must enter a user name and password to use this computer". Select a user account to connect automatically by clicking on the account you want to highlight and press OK. Enter the password for this user account (when it exists) when you are prompted. Leave blank if there is no password (null).

You can find options to logon automatically for OS X in system preferences > accounts.

On Win7, go to control panel > all items in Control Panel > network and sharing Center. Click on "change the advanced sharing settings. You do not want to use Homegroup.

Discovery of plug in the network
Open the files and printers sharing
Turn on the sharing section Public folder sharing
    Plug the password protected sharing

Configure the firewall on all machines to allow traffic to local area network (LAN) as being approved. With the Windows Firewall, Configuration File and Printer Sharing ON will take care of that for these machines, and if you are not running a third-party firewall or you have an antivirus/security with its own firewall component program, then you're fine.  With a third-party firewall, I usually set up the allocation of LAN with an IP address range. E.g. would be 192.168.1.0 - 192.168.1.254. Obviously you would substitute your correct subnet. Refer to the safety of any third party program or the user forums for how to correctly configure its firewall. Do not run more than one firewall. DON'T STOP FIREWALLS; CONFIGURE THEM CORRECTLY.

OS X Firewall is done in System Preferences > Security. Click the lock to make changes, and then click the Advanced button to ensure that SMB sharing is allowed. If you set up in the share pod, it will be.

On Win7, create shares as desired. I usually just share the Public, users desktop folder and all hard drives of additional data in the system. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!

  • Is there a way I can share files between users on the same Mac without an internet connection?

    Hello world!

Quick question here: is there a way I can share files between users on the same Mac without an internet connection?

I have two users say that A and B. If I go the long way via the 'Go' menu > 'Computer', I ended up being told to contact my computer or the network administrator for assistance. Both users are admin one and file sharing is allowed in system preferences... I have to admit that I use 10.9.5 because my MacBook Pro would not work with OS Xs national parks.

Any ideas would be cool because I'm sure that it used to work fine with "Snow Leopard" without being connected to the internet - or should I just send an email to myself and recover the files on the other user :-) to recover my USB is

Choose go to folder from the Finder Go menu, provide/Users/Shared/as the path and place the files.

  • How to share files between Windows XP and Windows 7 without password?

Hey guys, I want to share files between windows 7 and windows XP. I don't want to put the password on my Windows 7 or Windows XP account. I am going on my Windows XP perfectly shared files from Windows 7, but I am not able to go on my files of windows 7, the cause of my XP he asks user name and password. I enter the user name and it does not accept it if I make a password for my windows 7 and enter as the user name... I don't know what to do guys any help?

Windows 7 only WILL NOT allow you to share files without a password, it's all just a common sense safety requirement.  It of a very bad practice to run your Windows installations with a null value, a password, give your facility a valid password.

The simplest around your problem is to create an account with the same names and passwords on each machine and so typed the password when the connection is too a problem allow AutoLogon on the machines.

  • How to share files between Win 7 computers in the same workgroup without set up homegroup?

How to share files between computers to win 7 in the same workgroup, without setting up any homegroup?

We tried to avoid putting in place the homegroup. Because we fear us will not be able to share files between win 7 homegroup computers and Vista & XP?

    Thank you.

Ok. We got it to work.

In the folder tab property shares.

Click on 'Share' - choose people to share with, click on the drop down tab, select 'All', click 'Add', in the table below, to the right of everyone, click on the "Permission level", we choose 'read '. Then, in the background, we click on "share". The next dialog box is 'your folder is shared', click 'done '.

Click on 'Advanced sharing', [x] check share this folder. Click on 'OK '.

Then, click on 'OK' to the folder property.

Then, your folder is shared on your network working group of Win 7.

  • XP SP3 laptop computer connects to various WiFi hotspots but not to an individual.

Just upgraded to Verizon MiFi 2200 MiFi 4620 the personal hotspot.  Our other Office XP SP3 computer, a Windows 7 laptop and Tablet Android ASUS everything automatically detected and entering the network key/password, all connected to the hotspot and the WWW.

Fortunately, the XP SP3 laptop connects to other WiFi hotspots and will always connect to the MiFi 2200 old if it is powered even if, of course, he cannot access the WWW, because Verizon's network no longer recognizes the 2200 due service is transferred to the new 4620 MiFi.

The XP SP3 laptop detects the new hotspot very well.  The command 'View available wireless networks' shows the new hotspot, but when 'Connect' is attempted he goes just in the cycle to appear in the connection, but returned eventually to view available wireless networks.  The 'Connect' button is available, implying that it would connect so click on new.

Use the same settings (SSID, password, encryption, etc) for the device problem than others who work as they should.  It seems to be an incorrect setting or adjustment in the laptop but I can not understand that one.  I compared the services running on two XP machines and have found no obvious inadequacy.

    Advice?

    Thank you!

When you say that the new device has the same encryption, do you mean that you know that both old and new devices use the same type of encryption (for example, WPA2, WPA, WPA-TKIP, etc.)?

I noticed the following two statements in the Guide of the user for the MiFi 4620 L (page 30)

    • WPA/WPA2 Personal joint (safer, less compatible with older devices)
    • IMPORTANT you must use the profile secured with WPA/WPA2 Personal Mode security settings mixed when possible.

Suggesting that the MiFi 4620 can by default that set... and that the hardware in your computer laptop problem is one of the 'old' devices that is not compatible with this setting.

Just as an experiment, temporarily configure the MiFi to 'Open' (see pages 30 et seq.) and see if your laptop can connect.

  • When I try to share files between two computers Windows XP with SP3, I'm invited for a user name and password on both.

    original title: file sharing problems.

As far as I can remember, Media Center is XP Pro with additional multimedia functions.  What follows is a very old post by MS MVP Malke, but the Council is still sound:

    File sharing / print

Excellent, comprehensive, but easy to understand article on sharing files/printer under Vista. Contains information about sharing printers and files, and the folders:

    http://TechNet.Microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb727037.aspx

For XP, start by running the Network Setup Wizard the on all machines (see warning in section A below).

Problems sharing files between computers on a network are usually caused by 1) a misconfigured firewall or a firewall neglected (including a dynamic firewall in a virtual private network); or (2) inadvertently run two firewalls such as the firewall of Windows and a third-party firewall. and/or (3) do not have accounts to the same users and passwords on all computers in the workgroup. (4) tries to create actions where the operating system does not.

    A. configure the firewall on all machines to allow traffic to local area network (LAN) as being approved. With the Windows Firewall, it means which allows file sharing / print on the Exceptions tab normally run the XP Network Setup Wizard will take care of this for these machines. The only "witch hunt", it will turn on the XPSP2 Windows Firewall. If you are not running a third-party firewall or you have an antivirus with "Internet Worm Protection" (like Norton 2006/07) which acts as a firewall, you're fine. With a third-party firewall, I usually set up the allocation of LAN with an IP address range. E.g. would be 192.168.1.0 - 192.168.1.254. Obviously you would substitute your correct subnet. Do not run more than one firewall. DON'T STOP FIREWALLS; CONFIGURE THEM CORRECTLY.

    (B) to facilitate the Organization, put all computers in the same workgroup. This is done from the System applet in Control Panel, the computer name tab.

    C. create the counterpart of the user accounts and passwords on all machines. You do not need to be logged into the same account on all machines and assigned to each user account passwords can be different; accounts/passwords just need to exist and to match on all machines. DO NOT NEGLECT TO CREATE PASSWORDS, EVEN IF ONLY OF SIMPLE. If you want a machine to boot directly to the desktop (a particular user account) for convenience, you can do this. The instructions on this link work for XP and Vista:

Configure Windows to login automatically (MVP Ramesh) -.

    http://WindowsXP.MVPs.org/Autologon.htm

    D. Si one or more of the computers is XP Pro or Media Center, turn off Simple file sharing (Folder Options > view tab).

    E. create share as you wish. XP Home does not share the users directory or the Program Files, but you can share folders inside those directories. A better choice is to simply use the Shared Documents folder. See the first link above for more information on Vista sharing.

    F. you have the job of file sharing (and tested by exchanging a file between machines), if you want to share a printer connected locally to one of your computers, share of this machine. Then go to the printer mftr Web site. and download the latest drivers for the correct system. Install them on the target machines. The printer must be collected during the installation procedure. If this isn't the case, install the drivers and then use the Add Printer Wizard. In some cases, printers must be installed as local printers, but it is outside this response.

  • Wireless devices cannot connect to each other using the router EA6900

I use the 2.4 Ghz network and none of my wireless devices are able to communicate with each other...  I could not connect to a wireless printer to my laptop wireless (through the router) and thought it was unusual.  I tried ping does not work either.  I then plugged a cable ethernet to the laptop and could ping the printer wireless without a problem.   I tried other devices (wired and wireless connections) and it seems that no wireless device can ping any other wireless device.  If, however, one of the devices is connected, it works fine...  All wireless devices to connect to the router and internet without problem... It's just when they try to communicate with each other.  I have experimented with the desktop using the ethernet adapter, then the wireless adapter... same results.  My wireless using my previous router devices could communicate with each other.  It's almost as if this device has insulated AP running if this so-called it doesn't support that.

Customer service said: I'm the only one with this problem.  Does anyone else have this problem?

I have an ea6900 and it works fine for me. Sounds almost like you are connected to the guest network which would be sort of this way. Did you do a power reset? It has never worked? Try to remove the power and back to see if it clears up it.

  • Unable to connect to use Windows XP mode on a Virtual Machine, cannot share files between the Virtual Machine and host

Because of the need to run some XP programs, I ordered Win7 Pro and installed a Virtual Machine with XP Mode.

Managed to get it going somehow, but does not connect to my home network (can't see any other computers, which seems to be common with the host of Win 7, but here, I managed to install quick links to other computers - they will not work in XP Mode), even if the Internet connection is working perfectly.

In addition, I can't find a way to share files with the host country, drive C appears to be different from that of the hosts with no common points (where it is currently stored beats me).

I can access a USB key, but only at a price to make it unavailable to the host and the attempt to release his capture when running XP Mode failed.

    Hello

  • How to connect two ESXi hosts with a connection to 1Gbps via ADJUSTABLE and the transfer of files between them?

    Dear community,

Like many of you, I am facing the problem of executing an effective backup of VMs. unfortunately I can't use standard methods: my servers are rented from the root servers and therefore haver some limits. Their main NIC is connected to the Internet on the speed of 100 MB. It's very slow, if I try to VM backup via this connection images. In addition, backup sessions running through the shared management interface are affecting the production of virtual machine performance.

To resolve this problem, I ordered an additional network card to each server and asked the data center to connect my themwith a physical link (crossover cable). OK, between my servers 1Gbit link is established, but how do you use now?

-I can not move the management interface of these cards, because they have no connection to the internet.

-I can't use among the guest computers because the guest computer is unable to access the files on disk on the host computer.

So, I've exhausted all my ideas. Maybe someone knows the trick that will let me use 1 GB link between two machines of ESXi to mutually backup disks of virtual machines from one host to another.

Thanks in advance for your ideas.

    Who is King

    Anton

Create a vSwitch on each host and set the NETWORK adapter that you will use with the x-over cable.

Create a portgroup Console of service on each vSwitch and assign it an IP address on the same subnet for each server (router/gateway address does not necessary) for example 192.168.0.1 and 192.168.0.2 on each host.

Connect the cables between the server network cards.

You should have a link between two service consoles. I now download and deploy the device of the vMA, on the two hosts for the fault tolerance. Write a script on the VMAs on each host to a-i vmkfstools from one host to another and vice versa.

If you have virtual machines registered pointing these VMDK on both hosts, then have your scripts remove the VMDK and re - the clone using vmfkstools whenever you back up, you should have a backup solution of rudimentary virtual machine (full copy) in place.

Now you do not miss the service console?

    Good luck

Uncheck 'use the graphics processor' in preferences/performance.  If it works better that way your graphics card or the driver is not enough.

Working in this way, just may lose a few bells and whistles.
