How am I supposed to install windows 7 on a laptop computer that is not a hard drive
Well, I just got Windows 7 for my laptop, but it's not a hard drive. How do I get there for free?
Hello
· What is the number and the model of the computer?
· Has the operating system installed on the computer it pre-installed?
If the operating system came pre-installed on the computer then you can contact the computer manufacturer if they provide for the free upgrade to Windows 7.

My old desktop computer recently died of a motherboard failure. As I understand it, I should be able to install windows 7 from my old computer to the new, but only if I delete the old installation.
Does this mean that I have to format the old HARD drive? Because the old computer HARD drive seems to be alive, I would retrieve the data on a new machine first, before I have to format and I need to install windows on the new computer to get the data from the old HARD drive.
No, it is taken on trust that the old installation is no longer active, there is no mechanism to remove the old license in order to make a valid new. Remove the Windows directory (or rename) makes the old system inoperative.
You find that the automatic authentication fails on new construction and need to call the licensing Center to check that you have only one installation. Apart from the OEM rules if a license has been activated too often, and recently, it fails in a 1 time.

I have a linux operating system and I would like to remove it and install windows xp. I'm afraid that if I wipe the drive, I'll be unable to boot the windows xp disc. Is this true? What is the best way to remove the linux operating system and install windows xp?
original title: HOW I CAN UNINSTALL LINUX OPERATING SYSTEM
If there is absolutely nothing on the disk you want, just format the drive and install Windows XP:
1. start from the CD. You may need to change the first boot to a CD device in the BIOS. To do this, when you switch on the look for a configuration message indicating what key to start typing, F2 and del are commonly used. The message appears for very long and it you miss, you have to restart the computer. In the BIOS, look for a section that contains the boot sequence, change it to CD, save it and let the computer to restart.
2. the installation sequence is answering the message press any key to boot from the CD, and then press ENTER to set up Windows, press F8 to accept the EULA, delete the partition, press ENTER, type L to confirm delete, type C to create a partition, choose (Quick) format. Then begins the installation and restart will therefore ignore the subsequent message to press any key to boot from the CD-ROM.
3. actual installation will begin and takes about 30 minutes. Finally, download all the missing Windows service packs and other updates.

After I installed Windows 7 on HP laptop, get the message "not plugged in charge."
Same laptop, charger even worked well in Visa. After a clean install of Windows 7, I get the message "not plugged in charge."
On my system:
HP / Compaq Mobile Workstation 8510w
The charger is intended to be used for an additional cost / secondary battery - which worked fine under Vista when connected to the laptop. Still, ordinary charger works fine in Windows 7.So my question: must be unwanted software in Windows 7. Somehow, she acknowledges that it is not the normal charger and refuses to use it - but since it worked fine under Vista I would like to continue using it.
How can I do this in Windows 7?Concerning
WolfgangI had the same problem with my Compaq after upgrade of a cell of 12 after battery box white market. What I did first, was I uninstalled and reinstalled ' Microsoft ACPI - control method battery compatible "and who did not work, so I followed the following steps:
1. a laptop battery and remove (while on).
2. open the lid and remove the AC adapter / CC (for again, turn off the system)
3. close the lid and plug in the battery
4. open the cover, plug the AC adapter and turn on.
After I did the above, my system began to charge the battery. Some people say that after step 2, shut down the system before you unplug it from the AC. I don't have because most of the solutions I found does NOT shut down the system first. If you've been careful with your system, this time above should not do harm to your laptop

Problem with transfer/install Windows to new SSD 64 GB instead of 1 TB HARD drive
Hello everyone! I know that I am not alone with this problem, but until now no effective don't advise have been seen or given!
Please help get 1 TB of HARD drive for the 64 GB SSD in my Alienware m17 r4!
Alienware Respawn program is NOT able to cope with this transfer... He said that there is no enough space, must be original 1 TB drive...
Also, it is strictly recommended that new windows should be installed SSD not transferred again, but how do I do it?
with the new system UEFI/BIOS it is looks too difficult for me... There is no installation of Alienware Microsoft Windows 8 Disk in the package comes...
If I can get it? And then, he of course it will work correctly in the UEFI systemHave tryied: MINI TOOL PARTITION WIZARD, it shows all containing (5 partitions) completely has been copied from 1 TB of disk and mounted on the SSD 64 GB
but when I put the SSD in the laptop, he says is that some sort of error and the system must be reinstalled. CD of Acronis not picked up at all with boot...
Finally, it will be normal Windows 8 installation CD compatiable with UEFI, or it must be special for this system? (average if I leave and through her to the shop)
Is any body can help?
Thank you in advance in this area!
The license of Windows 8, my understanding, is the UEFI. So I recommend that you ask the disc from Dell.

Hello
Until you try to install Windows 7, follow these steps:
Go to your laptop manufacturer's website and check if Windows 7 drivers are available for your make and model laptop.
If this is not available, Windows 7 will not properly work for you.
Run the "Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor.

Check if your specifications are compatible for Windows 7:

How to install Windows 7 on a laptop computer without DVD player?
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks in advance for your suggestions
Download the ISO image of Windows 7 and the Windows 7 USB/download tool. It will extract the first on a USB key and make it bootable. Provided the phone supports USB boot Windows then installs the swiped the only faster DVD m. You need a 4 GB key.

I had Windows Vista ultimate on my Dell Studio laptop which consisted of 3 partitions (OS, recovery and OME).
In order to complete a clean install, I deleted all partitions and create a new 1 and formatted it, but I am informed that the installation was unable to create a new partition system or locate an existing partition.
I tried in IDE and ACHI, but neither enable Sir to go beyond that. I am booting from the CD with Windows 7. If someone is able to help, they explain in layman's terms, as I am a relative novice.
Thank you
As the drive was provided by Dell, you need to talk with them.
The disc could be waiting to see the things that you have deleted.
It can also be a type of completely different facility than the normal installation of Microsoft discs.
You would have more than likely been OK if you would leave the formatting alone and partitoning.

The hard drive failed on my HP laptop. I bought a new hard drive (not HP) and loaded the HP recovery disks, but a screen will appear that says it is not compatible. Can I use this new hard drive, or should I buy a hard drive for HP?
I looked at a few tech forums and from what I can tell, HP crashes their system you can't use hard disks of third parties. To make a third hard drive to work (depending on the online forums), you will need to bring a technician certified in HP in order to run a utility of DMI (?) and "tattoo" the hard drive for HP use (estimated at close to $45).I can't find a technician certified in HP in my area and Geek Squad said that they can do it more... my laptop is now an expensive paper weight, or there at - it another option (short of spending hundreds of dollars on the purchase of a new Vista + MS Office license)?Hello
posters have reported problems with the use of a replacement hard drive not HP, etc.
as you say you know the answer to your problem buy a new hard drive from HP and then reinstall using their recovery disks
If you have problems with the HP recovery process, contact the manufacturer
It's their recovery process not microsofts

Install Windows 7 on a laptop and desktop
I have a Dual desktop core and a Sony Vaio laptop. Both are / were installed with Vista Home OEM.
The laptop now broke down and the indications are that the hard drive is faulty. He came up with an OEM Vista and I don't have a Vista disc. If I have to replace the laptop HARD drive what version of Windows 7, I should get which gives me the opportunity to later pass office (OEM) from Vista to Windows 7?
I assumed that any notebook replacement HARD drive will be completely empty and I need a Windows 7 full - but which pack will give me the portability to another PC at home.
If this is not possible - or too complicated - buy another disk of Vista to replace the OEM system, to attempt an install on the laptop to see if it's the HARD drive whaich has failed and if so which I can install then on a new HARD drive?
Thank you
You have a valid license of Vista for the laptop so qualify for a Windows 7 upgrade version. It can be installed with Clean install Windows 7 with upgrade media
The license upgrade is a retail license and is transferable, but can be installed on one computer at a time.
Test your portable drive with a diagnostic of its manufacturer utility to see if it has failed.
