[S531] UUID is invalid, how Flash BIOS?

Hello!

My Lenovo Thinkpad S531 gives me an error message whenever I restart the computer that the UUID is invalid. This does not affect the performance but is really boring because of the beeps sounds.

I discovered that this error can be resolved using the WinPhlash.exe to backup the BIOS. Unfortunately, the program shows me the error code - 100: BCPSYS block signature not found.

What can I do to avoid this error message, or how do I enter the UUID of the motherboard BIOS. I do not have a guarantee of more and each piece is an original part of Lenovo.
I use Windows 7 64-bit.

Please help me, because I feel that I searched through the whole internet and I found quite well how to get rid of this annoying error, but another error prevents me to do.

Thank you and have a nice day!

Only dealers and service providers have the disc.

    Hello

    Thanks already,

  • How Flash the BIOS on Aspire S3-391 when no present OS?

I have a new Acer Aspire Ultrabook S3-391-6862.  I want to update the BIOS on the unit, but has difficulty because there is no OS on the Ultrabook again (it came with Win8 on it but I wiped the HARD drive to put Win7 on it).  I downloaded the latest BIOS (BIOS_Acer_2.17_A_A.zip) and unpacked.  It contains 2 files:
    (1) HB2V217.exe (size = 4, 664, 003 bytes)
    (2) Readme.txt (this simply says "Windows flash: Please click on 'HB2V217.exe' to update the bios").

I then added this "HB2V217.exe" (4 664 003 bytes) the Win7 DVD (I did a DVD ISO, then adds the "HB2V217.exe" of the ISO file, then burned a new DVD of Win7 from this new ISO standard).
The new DVD of Win7 boots fine, date at which I hit 'SHIFT - F10' to a command prompt, navigate to the "HB2V217.exe" file and run it, date at which it gives me a message error "subsystem required to support the image is not present.

    Other misc notes:
    -If I look inside the "HB2V217.exe" (4 664 003 bytes) with 7Zip, it contains 4 files:
    (1) HB2V217.exe (size = 4564828, but it has the same name, as it is the container for HB2V217.exe 4 664 003 bytes).
    (2) PopMsg.exe
    (3) wFlash.bat
    (4) wFlash.exe

    Obvious questions:
-Should I copy the 4 files for installing Win7 disc rather than their container?
-Can you tell me what I am doing wrong?

    Thank you

Thank you for your help Jean Philippe, although I have now solved the problem, though in a different way.
To answer your question though, the latest version of BIOS was 2.09.

My solution was tedious but I downloaded "WinPE", built a flash drive bootable with it, the file copied BIOS "HB2V217.exe" (version 4 664 003 bytes) in the flash drive, booted from the flash player, sailed to "HB2V217.exe" and run it, date on which she flashed BIOS 2.17 new to the Ultrabook and rebooted, and success.

For anyone who has the same problem, it was my convoluted solution (in a manner of long-term assuming that those who read it are not familiar with some aspects of computers).
-on another computer, I did the following:
    (1) - download Windows ADK ("adksetup.exe"), which is free (http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30652).
2-) plugged a USB key (something more bigger than 200 MB is fine).
    (3) - open windows explore and noted the drive letter of the USB Flash drive, I just plugged.
    (4) - ran the "adksetup.exe" and chose only "Windows PE" of all it's features (I forget if I run 'adksetup.exe' once or twice, but have downloaded more than 3 GB of files in total.
    (5) ' adksetup.exe' run and got a box of command prompt.  I typed in this box (but without the quotation marks):
    (6) "copype x 86 C:\WinPE_x86" (I chose 32 bit (x 86) version, although it may either have worked). "
    7-) after he finished I typed ' MakeWinPEMedia/UFD C:\WinPE_x86 E:.
(8-) where "E:" is the letter of your Flash drive you noted in step 3.
-NOTE that it will erase and format your USB Flash drive, so be sure you don't have any data you want to keep on it and make sure that you have given the CORRECT DRIVE LETTER or YOU WILL FORMAT AND LOSE DATA ON a DRIVE OTHER!
9-) copied the "HB2V217.exe" file for BIOS I unzipped from the zip file, I had downloaded from Acer, for the flash to the root drive.
10-) moved the to the Ultrabook of Acer and started the Ultrabook USB Flash drive (after setting it's BIOS to boot from the USB ports).
    (11) - target navigation on drive "C:" of the Ultrabook in this is the command line by typing:
    (12)-"c:".
    (13)-"HB2V217.exe".
(14): the Ultrabook of Acer seems to restart twice because it flashes the BIOS and gives you a course.
15-) after it's all done, restart the Ultrabook and enter the BIOS to check the version of your BIOS is now new and correct.

There is probably an easier way to make a bootable stick with Windows on it, but nothing I tried seemed to work, so I was stuck with this complicated scheme.

It would have been nicer if Acer had provided their BIOS image independent bootable OS as do so many other manufacturers, so you could simply image/burn the image to a floppy or CD/DVD and then Flash bootable BIOS boot media.

In any case, thanks for your help, and maybe it helps others as well.

  • How can I Flash BIOS of my laptop BACK?

I think it's much safer flashing the BIOS of the computer in the BACK rather than Windows. Usually make a boot disk 98 on my flash drive and Flash the BIOS in this way. Normally, the flash utility is a single file that contains the BIOS file. I got the update to the BIOS of my laptop, and it retrieves the number of files. I don't know if it'll work in the BACK.

My laptop is a Pavilion dm4-2165dx.

    You are absolutely right.

I also think the same as you.

Unfortunately, the flashes of BIOS for most HP notebooks to consumers including yours, should be run in Windows.

I disassembled the files on some consumer notebook BIOS and there is no file Flash bin BACK to put on a flash drive.

When I'm forced to use a flash based on windows, I either make sure that the antivirus program is cut, or I run the flash BIOS in windows safe mode where there is a minimum of current process.  Normally the antivirus program does not in WSM either.

  • HP T520 Flexible Thin Client: Flash BIOS on customer T520 light with USB

    Operating system: HP ThinPro 6-64

    BIOS: L41 v01.02

I'm looking for a little advice on flashing the BIOS on this TC. Instructions for the softpaq say to run flash the bios-high - but it works with the option of the tool-less set in the BIOS. As it is a very early version of BIOS, this option does not exist in the configuration of the BIOS. After a reboot, the update is not applied.

Ideally, what I want to do is to create a USB bootable for flashing the BIOS, but the part I have trouble finding the correct flashing the BIOS utility. The friend-flash indicates a corrupted BIOS file, even though I know that it is very well I used the same file on other systems.

Could someone give me some advice please?

Problem solved. I installed 5.0 ThinPro who had the command of flash-bios-environments relevant so I could update the BIOS.

Anyone know where I can download this?

The BIOS download page gives you only the Winflash & I need to Flash this laptop backpack... are installed Safeboot in NHS policy & I'm now stuck on the keyboard & touchpad, have you tried a USB keyboard without success.

    Hello

Unfortunately the BIOS from the base of BACK is not available on the European driver Toshiba page and so you will not be able to download it.

I m not very good if it would be possible, but perhaps a local ASP may be able to provide this version of BIOS Just contact the guy and just ask

But in my opinion it s advisable to Flash the BIOS using a Win version because it s much safer.

  • How Flash the BIOS if you cannot start Windows

    Hello

I have a BIOS virus which prevents ANY version of any operating system Windows to boot at all.

(Linux will start and run fine)

So, to solve this problem, I need re-flashing the BIOS.

Problem is... HP offers only the BIOS as an executable Windows utility.

Can someone help me figure out a way to Flash the BIOS WITHOUT Windows?

    THX

Now, in response to this topic, I discovered a solution...

    HPBIOSFILE.exe - writeromfile /-writehexfile /-writehdrfile

I hope this helps some of you.

    To use this...

    (1) download the executable file (.exe) for BIOS update for your motherboard

    (2) a copy of the program flashing of Award Bios BACK (Google it, easy to find)

    (3) obtain a downloadable copy of the BACK 6.22 (of Microsoft) and create files to start this one.  (possibly another computer to do this).

    (4) start your computer affected in BACK 6.22

    (a) copy the files in a directory

"(b) using the bold line above... type the name of your BIOS instead of the HPBIOSFILE.exe file ' and run the command.

You will find yourself with a ROM file, a BIN file and a header file.

You can now re-Flash your BIOS on your HP computer outside of a Windows environment.

    ENJOY!

  • How can I make a bootable CD containing a Flash BIOS for a Satellite A40-151

My BIOS is damaged and requires reloading, but my laptop doesn't have a floppy drive. I can't find instructions on how to create a CD to load the new BIOS on the Toshiba site accept a reference to follow the instructions in the folder of Toshiba on the laptop. This can't look like Window XP is not started due to the failure of the BIOS.

Someone has any ideas or someone could email me the instruction please.

    Waiting in anticipation.

    Kind regards

    MikeyT.

    Hello

Why do you think that the operating system cannot start because of the BIOS error?
Did you get any error messages?

Unfortunately, I found not as instructions on the creation of CD in BIOS.
As far as I know, sometimes two options for the update of the BIOS. In windows and the update of the traditional BIOS. But you should always check that the BIOS procedure is compatible with the laptop you.
For this, I found this useful document:
    IOS http://eu.Computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/FAQ.jsp?z=234&service=eu&from=faq_selection&CFID=B & FID = TRO0000000b07

But first, I would recommend trying to boot from the recovery CD Toshiba if the OS cannot start.
Eventually, you n don't need to update the BIOS.

PS: Try to enter the BIOS and try to set the default settings.

  • Equium L20 dead after flash BIOS

I recently tried to update the BIOS on my Equium L20 (model PSL2Ze). I downloaded the latest version of the BIOS and ran the update of the bios windows that much happened and restarted the laptop and it's that it happened.

Now, I don't even get the BIOS boot screen, indeed the screen didn't even come on when you press the power button.

The green light as the fan that stays on the disk HARD runs briefly but other than that, nothing. I thought this would be fixable by burying a CD with the BIOS on but the instructions page to do this, it shows the extract the zip file you download in 3 folders 'Docs', 'disk 3.5' and 'CD', but the file download just extract in a folder and contains the version of windows and no records or Docs section.

Is this an oversight, should I look elsewhere?

    Bq. {color: #333399} Option 2: update with CD-ROM-{color} \ {color: #333399} 1. Extract the zip file containing the BIOS upgrade to a temporary folder. \\ 2. Three subfolders will be generated in the temporary folder. "docs", "Update - 3.5' disc',"Update - CD - R or CD - RW"------3. How to make a bootable CD-ROM please read the *.pdf file in the "docs" folder \\ 4. Make sure that the laptop is plugged into the sector. \\ 5. Turn off the laptop. \\ 6. Place the BIOS upgrade CD-ROM in the optical disc drive. \\ 7. Turn on the laptop with the F12 key. \\ 8. The BIOS boot menu appears. Select CD/DVD or CD-ROM symbol with the arrow keys. Press "enter". \\ 9. Notepad starts from the upgrade of BIOS ROM-10. A boot menu is displayed. Select the point of updating the BIOS by using the arrow keys. Press "enter". ------11. The BIOS update process begins. Do not turn off the laptop during the update. ------12. If the update is complete, follow the instructions on the screen. {color}

So basically I'm puzzled. I put a blank CD in the drive and turned on the laptop and it turns and tries to read so I'm confident a flash CD works but I don't know how to create the CD rom flash.

Anyone can offer me some advice please?

    Scoopz

    It's a shame!
But unfortunately, there is nothing to see! Seems the motherboard is dead and replacement is necessary to make it work again!

You know that the update of the BIOS is always risky and so do not do if the laptop runs correctly.

The replacement of the motherboard is not very easy and a little trickier. If you have no experience you shouldn't it because you risk damaging the new purchased Council where the warranty is valid!
    So be careful.

I found this page that shows how to disassemble the Satellite L25. This laptop is very similar to the Equium L20. So maybe it s a little help.

[How to disassemble the Satellite L25 | http://www.irisvista.com/tech/laptops/ToshibaL25/satellite_L25_laptop_overclocking_1.htm]

But once again; everything you make are at your own risk!

  • Flash BIOS on Satellite A215

I have a Satellite A215-S7444 originally shipped with Vista 32 bit, I have since made a custom installation of Se7en 64-bit. There is a problem of coming put fashion 'sleep' audio device disappears. OK, so there is an update of the Bios for my model that is supposed to fix this problem.

If I remember well in the forums someone had posted "to not start from inside windows or u might completely bork your system." I have dl. The Bios updated and created a "bootable CD" according to the instructions using windows disc image burner, but as far as I went.

I would therefore like to some someone to write instructions step by step for me on how SUCCESSFULLY Flash my Bios. As much, I know you must press F12 during startup, and then select the "Startup" tab, and then select Boot from disc. "Then you need to select"Save and Exit with changes"or something of the sort. And then restart. Is this correct or am I missing a step? I know that there is a SINGLE shot that if I want to get it's okay. Has anyone else successfully flashed the Bios?

Thank you for all the useful information.

    Hello

I agree with the user above. Make sure that you have downloaded the correct BIOS update. Otherwise you may destroy the ROM module

If you update the BIOS from a bootable floppy, you don t have the stress with running programs. Just start the update and don t stop the laptop during this procedure and hope that everything will work! ;)
