How an upgrade to 8 to 8.1 iSCSI installation

I have a copy of Windows 8 is installed to an iSCSI target.  I think that the root of the problem so that the recovery environment does not support iSCSI.

Trying to cross at 8.1 translated by reboot into recovery mode, which cannot join the iSCSI target and therefore cannot perform the upgrade.

I can't find another way to upgrade and instructions closest I can find to add iSCSI to the recovery environment is to add it to a Windows 7 recovery CD.

Instructions for adding support for iSCSI in Windows 8 recovery environment would be appreciated.  Furthermore, an upgrade path that works for iSCSI would suffice, but the first option is preferable, given that I may eventually need environmental recovery for other purposes.
