Satellite L450D - 13G - PXE - E61 error at startup

This laptop has run chkdisc spontaneously started since I bought it 9 months ago, but now I crashes followed by inability to start or do anything. PXE - E61 media test failed. Its still under warranty so I will not do any DIY material. Anyone know what it is or if I should send it to Toshiba? His work at the minute, but it is to his death a bad.

Hey Ironman,

I found an interesting article on the site Web of Toshiba on this behavior and I think that it s useful to you:

    Beginner of the computer here.

    I have a Satellite L450D-11V.

Last week I dropped and since I get a PXE - E61 error. Below, it says something on Realtek Ethernet and then the error message appears below the media cannot be detected.

What does that mean? and what do I do to fix the error?

Cell phones have several bootable devices such as hard disk drive, optical disk drive and network card.
In the BIOS settings it is possible to define which device can be used as first, second or last boot device.

If the first boot device is not detected laptop tries to use the bootable device second and third at least. In your case to some hard disks drive and optical drive reason undetectable bootable devices ant he tries to use the network card. For this reason, you can see this PXE - E61 error.

I can't say for sure but I'm afraid there is a serious technical problem with your HARD drive and it can no longer be used as ring starting m.
What you can do is to enter the BIOS settings and check if the HARD drive is listed and recognized correctly.

Also try start your laptop and press F12 to get into the boot menu. If the HARD drive is listed there he choose and press ENTER. What happens when you do this?

  • Satellite L450D - 13G - problem starting Windows 8 to 8.1

    Model: Satellite L450D - 13G

I just ugraded to 8.1 Windows of Windows 8 and now at the start of desktop support and refreshing continues, so I can't do anything.

As far as I can see, is that the file system keeps from (explorer.exe).

Someone at - he experienced this? Any help would be much appreciated as I can see no way that to restore it to Windows 7 with my Toshiba recovery disc.

Fortunately someone Toshiba reads these forums and has an answer.

    Hello

First you need to know that win 8.1 on this Satellite L450D series isn't officially supported, and that means this laptop of the manufacturer does not guarantee that these BONES would work properly.

However, I put t see serious reasons why 8.1 Win should not work properly.
In my opinion, something was wrong during the upgrade. To resolve this issue, you must repair the system.

Press the power button on the point 8.1 of Windows (via charms bar) and hold down the SHIFT key when you click on the button to restart. Then the next screen should appear and you may choose to solve the problems.
In advanced options, you can try some options such as auto repair, System Restore, and others

  • My Satellite L450D - 13G is not initialize

I have a Satellite L450D - 13G which was working fine last night. When I started upwards tonight only the power light turns on, no HDD LED of start flashing. I would be grateful for any advice as to what may be the problem.

    Thank you

Disconnect the power adapter and remove the battery.
Then press a hold power button 30-50 dry long... you can repeat the procedure by pressing and holding the button power 3 - 4 times.

If this does not help, well, in this case, you have a serious problem, but I can't say for sure what part could be affected in the worst case the motherboard... in better case only a RAM module.

    Hi Nash

The PXE error occurs because the laptop tries to start first from the local network.
You must enter the BIOS and change the order on HARD disk or a CD. I recommend that you set the LAN option at the end of the boot order.

The recovery CD you can buy form the Toshiba service partner in your country.
The number on the sticker is only an OEM key. You can not use it with a Windows operating system several.

  • Re: Satellite L850-150 - PXE - E61 media test failure error

    Hey all,.

Yesterday, while using my laptop normally, my laptop crashed and showed me the blue screen. When I tried to restart, he gave me what PXE - E61 media test failure, followed by the well known text.

I looked in the BIOS and boot order was right (HDD is first as it should), but to my surprise, the hard drive was no longer recognized on the first page of the BIOS (it says HDD/SSD: None). I already tried to reinsert the HARD drive (loose screw them, removed and inserted back), but it does not solve the problem. In my opinion, it probably means that my HARD drive is defective?

What would be the best course of action? Is it still possible to fix it? Thanks in advance.

Somehow the disk HARD is not properly detected.
Try to set the BIOS to default settings and check again.

Please do so and send feedback.

  • Satellite L30-149-PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable of

    Hello!

My Toshiba Satellite L30-149 with the PSL35E-002002NS model number is equipped with a MK4032GSX drive HARD 40 GB, Bios V 1.90 and HP Windows XP Home edition.

IT stops during startup with the text.

For Realtek RTL8139 (x) /8130/ 810 x PCI Fast Ethernet Controller V2.13 (020326), PXE - E61: Media test failure, check cable PXE - M0F: exit ROM PXE, operating system not found.

This occurs even if the disc is removed and seq. boot is changed so it should search the CD/DVD and even though the power and the battery has been disconnected for 15 minutes. If the power were during 20 hours them lights upward by DVD for a short so that at the next startup, but not if the power was turned off for a few minutes.

Before he died, he showed the blue screen several times with diskerrors in the event log, and I was able to run/CHKDSK without errors a few times.

Please advice how to reset the Fast Ethernet controller, not sure that a HDD defective only can cause the fault of I m.

    Thnx in advance

    Hello

I think that this is related to failure of HARD drive or lack of OS on the HARD drive.
Is this message PXE ONLY appears if the portable computer is trying to boot from LAN.

Means either the LAN was chosen in the BIOS as first boot device or operating system is not found on the HARD drive and so the BIOS automatically goes to the local network.

So I recommend this audit in the worst case you will need to check if the new HARD drive would solve this

  • Satellite Pro A100 - PXE message appears at startup

I have a problem and I really really really could use some help, its been listen to me for the last two days ive trawled through countless amounts of forums and web pages without success then for a last ditch attempt until I throw it out the window (figuratively) I thought I'd come here for help!

    It's a Toshiba Satellite Pro A100 model No. ' PSAAPE-00Q00KEN

initially when I started the computer this error message came

PXE - E61: Media test failure, check cable of
PXE - M0F: Exit Intel Boot Agent.
    Operating system not found

now, I managed to stop the PXE errors by disabling the Lan built into the BIOS option

I have check and made sure it is not a disk in the DVD player to the left it doesn't have a floppy drive so it isn't that

BIOS for some reason usually see the hard drive is a seagate 80 GB HDD Sata, but I know that its fine because it works but in my Dell laptop.
and my Dell laptop hard drive is not seen in the Toshiba.

Now that I read all about flashing the BIOS, but I can't because the only download I get Toshiba is one that runs when windows is running (if I can't get it to boot, how do I Flash the bios)?

I also tried thing BIOS resseting to short-circuit the c88 under the wireless network card, but that didn't work or the other!

Now is there anything else I can try or do give up and throw it out the window?

    Thanks in advance

    Hello!

It's really strange, but it looks like your HARD drive to the motherboard controller is the reason for this because you said that the HARD drive works in another phone.

Can you please try another HARD drive in this notebook? If another HARD drive works the old HDD is definitely faulty and if not, I think that the motherboard must be replaced.
So, you can determine what is exactly the problem.
In addition, I think that there is nothing more you can do at the moment.

    Good bye

  • Satellite C660D-124 - PXE - E61 media test failure

    Hi all

This is my first post on your forum.
I know a little bit to move the laptop.
    I have a Satellite C660D-124
I was playing music when he decided to stop and I got this error message.
PXE - E61 media test failure.

    what I've done so far;

    (1) battery removed, removed HDD.
replace drive HARD and battery. no change in error.

    (2) joined in setting up F2, noticed the HDD\SDD says NOT PRESENT.
Scrolls to the start menu that looks like this...
    HARD DRIVE
    CD/DVD
    FLOPPY DRIVE
    LAN
down the HARD drive and back up and saved on exit without change by mistake

    (3) when I go peripheral to the F12 boot boot, the boot menu reads as follows;
    CD/DVD - HL - DT - ST DVDRAM GT 30N
    REALTEK LAN PXE B03 DOO

There is no DISC in the start menu, is there?

I would have appreciated your advice and your expertise on this matter and I hope that my h/dd is not dead
    see you soon

    Hello

Your HARD drive is defective and must be replaced.
I m sure about it because the HARD disk does not appear in the BIOS. But it should.

Replace the HARD drive, reinstall the system and the laptop would go again :)

  • Satellite A80 PSA80E - PXE - E61: Media failure test

    Hello

    I have a problem with a Satellite A80 PSA80E.
"I am trying to boot the pc with the recovery DVD (I have a lot of viruses), but it's impossible because I tried to start (in Bios) only with the cd/dvd, but when he tries to start says an error: PXE - E61: Media test failure", and it do nothing.

This is courious because if I start with the HD windows xp Home, I can use this recovery DVD, one more perfectly.

Could someone me? Thank you very much

This message appears because the laptop would not boot from the DVD.
PXE - E61: Media test failure said that the laptop has attempted to boot from LAN, but the procedure was not successful.

However, now you know why this error, but we need to know why you can not boot from the DVD

There are two possibilities; your CD/DVD drive is faulty and cannot boot from one of the disks inserted or the inserted DVD is defective (scratched or something like that)

  • Satellite M100-221 - PXE boot error message

    Hello

I own a Toshiba Satellite M100 221 and when I turn it on it says

    PXE e61 media test failure
    Check cable pxe moF output
    Intel boot agent
    operating system not found

I downloaded a program called Hiren Boot Cd and I he burned on a Cd and then I ran it if the 221 m100, then I loaded Windows XP Mini. I went into my computer and I don't because my partition B called drive Ram Toshiba himself. Where is my C partition? What happened to my PC? I think that the hard disk is dead. Is it?

    Hi lekhB,

    > I think the hard drive is dead. Is it?
Is that the HARD drive is listed in the BIOS?

If this isn't the case, it seems that the HARD drive is faulty, but in General, the PXE message means that an incorrect boot order is set.

  • Re: Qosmio X 775 - PXE - MOF Error at startup

    Hello

I have problems with my Qosmio X 775 boot the system. I already checked the priority and both hard drives are listed as the first two devices, then USB to ODD finally to the local network.

Hard drives are recognized and the connection is good here, but for some reason it is not keen that I boot from hard drives.

    The error is:
PXE - E61: Media test failure, check cable of
PXE - MOF: Exit PXE ROM.
Reboot and select proper boot device (which I did several times)
Or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key.

I don't know why it is not booting from hard disks and that seems to be the issue at this stage.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

The value of the default BIOS and try again.

Since when did you notice this problem? Did you do something like updating the BIOS?

  • Satellite L300-229-PXE-E61: Media test failure

    Hello

    A couple of years ago, I bought a satellite L300 - 229.

The other day the screen empties and restarted with the following eror is
PXE - E61: Media test failure, check cable of
PXE MOF: outgoing PXE ROM no boot device, please insert the boot disk and press any key

I have not received a boot with the portable drive... Can someone give me some advice on what I should do next?

    Kind regards

    Alan

    Hello

The message appears because the laptop trying to boot from LAN.
    Why?
The laptop cannot find the boot device
I think that your HARD drive is dead or the master boot record may be damage.

To resolve this issue, you must install the system again probably you need to replace the HARD drive first and then you will need to install new windows.

If you have no recovery disk, see this page:

    HELP ME PLEASE!

    Hello

The ERROR IDE #0 message because the BIOS can't recognize the new HARD drive.

The second error message like PXE - E61: Media test failure, check cable is displayed because the BIOS did not find the HARD drive as a boot device, then the laptop tries to boot from the local network as a last option.
Due to boot from LAN is unavailable the PXE error message and provide this message

Well, what to say you should check the HARD drive if there are some riders who controls the settings master\slave\c-salt.
For most switching jumper might help to solve this problem. But the problem is that not all HDD 2.5 supports these horsemen.
