  in the directory, the file names are much too small.  You want to change font Times New Roman 12, for everything.  Expansion to 124% does not affect the file names.  Don't want to pay for the update driver software as it will not fix this.

  I'm not on my machine to win 8 to check right now, but if you right click the desktop, then select the screen resolution, you should see 'Make text and other items larger or smaller'

  The clean install above applies to a Dell system; that you do not use a Dell when I say press F2 or F12 (step 6), you'll probably need to press another button.   If the key light is not lighting up, then more than likely that the LED is just out for your power button. If the laptop is still under warranty, you can it be repaired or replaced, but as long as its not causing you any serious issues, I worry too much with it.
