I have a bookmark in a Web site that has saved my login and my password. I changed the password but not asked to update. For all other websites for which I changed my password for Firfox asked if I wanted to update the password. So I deleted the entry for user name and password for this Web site. However, he still reminds the user name but will not be asked if I want to save the password. Why the change? Why can't I save my new password?

This Web site may use autocomplete = off to prevent registration of data in form as the name and password of Firefox.

You can remove autocomplete = off with a bookmarklet to make Firefox to store data of form such as names and passwords.

Note that Firefox doesn't form data automatically populate automatically saved when autocomplete = off is used, you must double-click the empty name field for a drop-down list.

I would like firefox to save my password on a site, because I always forget and need to make a new. but any firefox never propose to 'Remember password' on this site for a reason. can I do remember for this site?

No, sorry, a bookmarklet (if that's what you try) is a JavaScript code snippet that hacks the page open. Running it in a different tab won't help.

I have not tried these bookmarklets myself, but to run it, you copy the code to the Clipboard, right-click on the bookmarks toolbar and choose new bookmark, then passed to the location. You can give the bookmark any name you like. usually something short works better.

  • How can I configure Firefox Mobile to open webpages in default drive mode, so I use less resources and phone?

Maybe that is not an existing function, but I imagine that there is a setting for that somewhere in all: config. I want pages on my mobile to open in default drive mode, so that the player display button is pushed to turn this mode off, rather than on.

I want to do this for two reasons: first, so that the pages will not load not all ads (I'm particularly concerned about video ads) that sap resources from my phone and increase my use of data; and second, so that pages that are not optimized for mobile devices (which is a pretty large majority of pages that I tend to visit) will open in a more readable format.

It's the computer asking password. No Firefox. You can set the screen saver to ask for your ID or not.

  • How can I configure firefox to open a new tab for each new search?

Each search I've done since the last update, Firefox open the new in the old tab. I have already fixed the Boolean value in browser.search.openintab true in everything: config, but it works only with google search (and not, for example with youtube search).

    This combination works for me:

    • Browser.Search.openintab = true
    • YouTube search plugin installed from YouTube (when green + appeared on the magnifying glass icon on the search bar)

      • by clicking the "punctual".
      • make YouTube the default search engine

How about other search plugins: those who do not like Google or YouTube?

I noticed that you have several extensions. Could one of these be alter the functioning of the search bar? You could test mode without failure of Firefox. It is a standard diagnostic tool to disable some advanced features of Firefox and extensions. More info: questions to troubleshoot Firefox in Safe Mode.

You can restart Firefox in Mode safe mode using either:

    • button "3-bar" menu > "?" button > restart with disabled modules
    • Help menu > restart with disabled modules

Not all add-ons are disabled: Flash and other plugins still works

After stops in Firefox, a small dialog box should appear. Click on 'Start mode safe' (not reset).

    Any difference?

  • How can I configure downloads to save automatically instead of asking me to open?

Recently I reset Firefox. Front whenever I downloaded a file, it automatically asked me if I wanted to open the file or save it to my computer, with save on my computer preselected. It was good because I almost never want these downloads automatically opens, and I love all my downloads to go into my file to download on a disc with a lot more space (not the temp on C:\ folder). The option "do this automatically for files like this in the future" has been useful for the type of rare file I want to open automatically (usually because it is a very small music or something).

Now, every time I download any type of file, the guest comes back with 'open the file' pre-selected, and "do this automatically for files like this in the future" grayed out. So, on more than one occasion, I clicked ok wrong and opened huge files automatically after downloading (which resulted in their burst open same hours later and play automatically once the download is complete). I would like to be able to select 'Save to my computer' and do it automatically, but this option is grayed out.

Available aid seems to suggest go to options > Applications and modify the action to the appropriate content type, but:
    (a) not all content types that I download are listed, i.e. .mov, .mpeg, .rar, etc..
    (b) change the action of the content types I (.wmv and compressed/zipped folder only) absolutely did nothing.

I'm always invited for each file download, always preselected to open the file with the 'do this automatically for files like this in the future' always grayed out.

I would like to change the way I had before, or at least automatically together all downloads to save in my download folder.

Could you try copying your old file (the one in the old data of Firefox) mimeTypes.rdf file in your profile folder? You can quickly open the folder of your profile again by using:

As for the prefs.js comparison, I would look old preferences with or another of those words in the name: download or helperApps.

  • How can I prevent Firefox to save the things I type in forms or usernames, etc. and show it on the screen?

Firefox continues to display a suggested word, etc. When I type a user name or even when I typed an account number. For example, when I start typing a v, he opens a window & suggests words v I typed before. So how I turned off that?

    Hi VJHuff,

I think you're talking to the AutoComplete feature. This article will show you how turn and manage the AutoComplete feature in Firefox. If you talk about names of users and passwords, you can read the article in the Knowledge Base of password manager.

    Hope this helps!

  • How can I configure Firefox 41.0b1 to allow installation of 1passport extension 5?

I just bought 1passport 5 for mac. Firefox, I cannot install the 1passport extension 5. Should what steps I take to enable this extension?

As you have noticed, Firefox 41 requires that extensions be signed by Mozilla, which follows a brief review process. Presumably the editors of 1Password will take care of this before Firefox 41 is officially released in about 5 weeks.

If you want to run the current version, Firefox 40.0.2, instead of the beta-test version? It does not block unsigned extensions. You can enter here (scroll to your preferred language): https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/

Alternatively, you can return a parameter that exists only in Firefox 41 to allow unsigned extensions. Which can be found here:

    (1) in a new tab, type or paste Subject: config in the address bar and press enter/return. Click on the button promising to be careful.

    (2) in the search above the list box, type or paste the xpi and make a pause so that the list is filtered

    (3) double-click the preference xpinstall.signatures.required to true to false

One of these suggestions resolve the problem?

I use an old Netgear modem, model MR814v2. I was unable to reset it to the original settings because I lost my password so I can't turn off and when starting and Firefox guard tries to connect to all sites within the range. This includes the new site that starts while I use my computer.

  • How can I configure Firefox to check if a session is already open before you start a new?

I have an elderly parent who always dbl_clks desktop icon when he wants to join his social media site, even if he never sold the last of his window he ran. The result is that there soon several windows ff running the same (like 20-30) while Windows allows more. I would like to put something so that when they click the icon on the desktop, it checks to see if ff is already running, and if so, it's just max that window.

    Thank you...

Another possibility would be to add-no.-line switch remote control in combination with the current profile of the command line in the shortcut to the desktop (-no - remote 'profile name' Pei).

Then you get a message that the profile is already in use when this icon is clicked, another time while Firefox is already running.
    This could be confusing if.

This switch is normally used to open multiple windows of Firefox with a separate profile.
