    At least theres an option in the bios, re graphics memory and it may not be, what you see is what you get.

    Start with something simple - like PDF reader? How can it NOT be full screen, because I NEVER want it to be full screen?

    Windows 8 has a built-in PDF MS player, who always default to full screen and cannot be changed. The "issue" here comes from the execution of MS Windows 8 applications in mosaic.

    Download an application external, like Adobe Reader and open the PDF file with this application and you can open the PDF file in a window very well.
