  Thank you.  I'll do it and change my Windows Update settings.  BUT, FYI, in an act even more incredible, the same night I posted my question here, my computer was said upload, and I was still in place at 03:00 (when Windows is set to d/l and install updates).  I went to the kitchen for a bit and returned to my computer to find a countdown - he downloaded updates and "will re-start in 7 minutes" or so and counting down...   Decided to give the full answer on this point Ubuntu system and it works fine.
  In a terminal, run the command: sudo/usr/sbin/gdmsetup

  This will bring up the gdm gui and there you can disable auto login and the login timed.

  Here are the instructions to turn off the Zoom feature on your iPhone:
