Why aren't Firefox for Linux downloads available as a .deb package?

Downloads for a windows machine are easy to install. Downloads for a Linux machine are not easy to install. If said downloads when it makes available as a.deb package they would become just as easy to install (from the point of view of the user of a computer). A.deb package is one of the four ways that Linux install downloads and in my humble opinion, is the easiest. Otherwise, I have to wait for the latest Firefox to be filled in the "package manager". Currently using Linux Mint Nadia >

Surely the fact that some of the most popular Linux distributions (Debian, Ubuntu and it is varitions, Linux mint) and operate with .deb should count for something.
Yes, I can (and do) wait until the upgrade Manager to say an update of Firefox is available.
It's not my fault that Linux allows 4 ways to install. Certainly, this absence of an installation mode can and does not have the true cross-platform compatibility, suffice it to say.

Thanks for the reply, even if it does not help.

  • Why isn't Firefox for Mobile is available on the Android Marketplace?

I can't download it to my AT & T phone because it is blocked.

On some devices supported, a bug in the software of the market prevents Firefox from appearing. This seems to be fixed in the latest version of market, which began deployment to users this week. For more details, see https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=621015

Or, if you have a compatible phone, you can download the application directly from http://bit.ly/fxbeta3

(Note: to download the application directly on an AT & T phone, you need to search to get instructions on how to file "sideload" APK, because AT & T disables the option to install from sources non-market.)

  • Download Firefox for Linux without Adblock and other extensions

I have a problem downloading of an adapted version of Firefox for Linux to run on a Knoppix Live DVD system, for use in the trial publishable extensions I developed under Windows. (This isn't a development question extension, however, just a problem downloading and the FF configuration properly).

I was surprised as the current (FF40) and anterior (FF34) version for Linux come with 3 extensions installed permanently - NoScript, Adblock Plus and FoxyProxy Standard. They apparently cannot be uninstalled, even if they can be disabled.

I read online in various forums that Adblock Plus is a hog memory and that she, in particular, as well as NoScript, may adversely affect the values with legitimate code on Web sites and extensions. I also read complaints from users who disable Adblock Plus does not remove all its effects.

During my tests I had problems that I thought were the result of Adblock Plus, so I turned off and restart the browser. The situation is greatly improved, but there are still some problems that may or may not be related to the shortage of memory.

The question is this: I want to download versions 'clean' FF for Linux without these extensions part 3 installed, for more conclusive tests, but have not found a way to do it.

I'm also curious as to why these extensions are 'forced' on Linux users. (I hope that never happens on Windows, or I could become a less committed user of the FF).

Firefox any version for Linux, Mac OSX and Windows www.mozilla.org or www.mozilla.org/firefox/all doesn't come with all Extensions.

You already had these extensions installed in Firefox profile, you use with Firefox.

All three of these Extensions are by a third author (s) and not by Mozilla.

When I click on 'Start' to go to the game client, the screen is black. The browser tab written game client will blink twice.
Please note that everything works fine when I use the chrome Web browser.
DarkOrbit works very well with Firefox on Windows.

Your Linux distro may have related packages for it.

Alternatively, you can use Chrome or chrome for that one site and use Firefox for everything else.

  • When can we have "tabs in titlebar" in firefox for linux?

When can we have "tabs-in-title bar" in firefox for linux,
as Ubuntu 12.04. Or for that matter support an add-on
such a feature. I use firefox 13 currently in
    Ubuntu 12.04.

On Linux the Firefox button is on the tab bar and you usually visible through the installation of the OS title bar.

It is not possible to have the tab bar in the title bar on Linux or place other items on the title bar.

Only Firefox for Windows is this function, and only if the Firefox window is maximized, you can have the tab bar and the Firefox button in the title bar.

On Windows, the title bar is in the Firefox DOM (#titlebar), so it is possible to place other objects on the title bar.

Other than that, the browser is fast and easy to use

You seem to have the provided version of Firefox 35.0.1 Ubuntu

You can get the update of Firefox 39.0 of in on your distribution package manager or you can get Firefox from www.mozilla.org or www.mozilla.org/firefox/all

If you choose to mozilla.org , sure it is 64-bit as 32 bits will not run unless you have the appropriate packages.

Mozilla does not updates for versions of others, including the packages provided by Linux distributions.

  • What are the features of Mozilla Firefox for Linux?

I found an article about Firefox Desktop features. Linux and Windows have the same characteristics?
If this isn't the case, I need to know the characteristics for Linux.

Firefox for Windows, Mac OS x (10.6 +) and Linux (from mozilla.org) are pretty much the same.

You can find some of the shortcuts from the Menu and KB is a little different on the three operating systems because of their BONES in the Human Interface (HIG) guidelines followed. May also have small differences in appearance.

For example, tools-> Options on Windows is Firefox-> Preferences on Mac and editing-> Preferences under Linux.

Adobe is kind of screwing with Flash by Linux users only supported Flash 11.2 with security updates.

  • 25.0 Firefox for Linux 64 - x 86 is more judge Flashplayer

I had to update Firefox manually to 25.0 21.0, because he told me that it was up-to-date. probably a problem with all versions x 86-64 versions of Linux and not i386.

I also updated to the new x 86-64 Linux Flashplayer (2013-08-20 V11.2.202.310) and put the libflashplayer.so in its usual place on a x 86-64 Linux system:
    /libflashplayer.so

But FFx and sites like youtube insist I have no installed flashplayer...

Addons/Plugins tells me that I have not installed such plugins.
YouTube tells me to 'Flash player is required for video playback.

Where is the error? The user can access the filedans/usr/lib64/mozilla/plugins/libflashplayer.soand this is the correct version as well:

    1. libflashplayer.so

/libflashplayer.so: ELF 64-bit LSB shared object, x 86-64, version 1 (SYSV), bound dynamically, stripped

You can try to create a ~/.mozilla/plugins folder and copy the symbolic link to the plugin for this folder, see if it makes Firefox find and use them.

I need help with this: I have to install a firefox on a linux desktop. The kernel is 2.4.35, and the package manager is RPM.
Where can I find (and download) an appropriate version of firefox?

It is usually not the kernel, but libraries that determine if you can run a specific version of Firefox.

Firefox does not come with an installer or an RPM package.
You can download archive tar.bz2 and extract the files to a directory on your computer in your home directory or in a directory like/usr/local system as root.

    Disable hardware acceleration

With a graphics card and graphics driver configurations, Firefox may crash or have problems, display of text or objects on the pages when using hardware acceleration. You can try turning off hardware acceleration to see if that fixes the problem.

    1. Click the menu button

      and choose Preferences

    2. Select the Advanced Panel and the general tab
    3. Uncheck the use hardware acceleration when available
    4. Click the menu button

      and then click on leave

    5. Launch Firefox as you normally do

If the problem occurs is more, hardware acceleration is probably the cause. You can try to update your graphics drivers to see if that fixes it or just run without hardware acceleration. If not, your problem is probably related to extensions or themes. Continue with the steps outlined in this article to see if they help.
