How can I do a job (Starfleet Academy) game of old Windows 95 on Window XP?

Hello
I tried several times to install my game of Starfleet Academy, newly acquired on Windows XP, without success.
When I click on 'Install' in the context menu of the Autorun, first it wants me to install Direct-X 5! As you can imagine, if I say yes, he tells me that it is already installed, but then he's trying to launch the installation.
If I say no to the installation of Direct-X 5, it seems to want, then proceed to the installation, but all what happens is that the screen becomes black. That's all.

I tried changing the compatibility mode in the Autorun file "Windows 98/Windows Me", but it still does not work.

Not knowing much about computers myself, I went through all the files and their properties, everyone that I have had the same compatibility setting, but still all I get is a black screen and then nothing.

Anyone know if there is a way to make this game work on XP?

Thank you.
Christophe

Hi Trapdoor,

Install it in compatibility mode.

I need a third party program? It is very good. If you know one please tell me about it.

    Hi OskarKvist,

This feature is not supported by Windows XP.

However, you can use your favorite search engine to download any third-party software that could serve the purpose.

Note: Using third-party software, including hardware drivers can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the use of third-party software can be solved. Software using third party is at your own risk.

  • How can I convert my friends to the Game Center on Facebook?

With the new iOS for my iPod & iPad, I lost all my friends Game Center.  I have two games that I play as I would like.  How can I convert my friends to the Game Center for Facebook friends?

You do not have. They have two different systems. What you need to do is to start on. For example, if your game has a forum or support page, they may have a way for people to communicate to a friend. Or if they have a facebook page, they probably have a system for "I want to make friends."

It is now up to the games themselves to put in place the means to a friend using iMessage. You will need to wait for your game to do.

  • How can I enable AHCI in dv7 6199us? And install windows on a SSD?

    Hello!

    I got help.

How can I enable AHCI in dv7 6199us? And install windows on a SSD?

Intel based computers, like yours, are usually set to "RAID", which is a superset of "AHCI". Basically, if the BIOS won't let you choose between "IDE mode", "AHCI" and "RAID", leaving in the RAID led to you everything done "AHCI". In this case there is no need to activate the AHCI, as RAID will support an SSD anyway.

  • How can I link to the top a game PS3 controller to my PC so I can play a game on it?

    Hello

How can I link to the top a game PS3 controller to my PC so I can play a game on it? I recently bought Bioshock for PC and I can't get my PS3 DUALSHOCK controller to work.

    Thank you!

You can not, not with a PS3 controller. Well, there is a way but you will need to run an emulation of sorts and it is not native, so you'll need to understand on your own. Otherwise the xbox controller is native with Win machines, then you want to try this for a plug and play solution.

  • Windows 7. But the name of the account user each time before fully loading windows. How can I stop this and simply load in thank you Windows.

I have just upgraded to Windows 7. But whenever I turn on my computer, he wants to support me on my user account name before completely loading windows. How can I stop this and simply load in thank you Windows.

    Hi UKuser7,

    Welcome to Microsoft Answers Forum.

Automatic logon is disabled in Windows 7 by default for security reasons. If it is enabled, anyone who can physically access the computer can also gain access to everything on the computer, including the networks that it is connected.

This setting is only recommended for cases where the computer is physically secure.

To set up Windows 7 to connect to the desktop automatically, follow the steps below.

    1) click Start , and then enter the following command in the start search box:

    Netplwiz

    2) press ENTER.

This opens the Advanced user accounts Control Panel window.

    (3) in the users tab, uncheck the box next to users must enter a user name and password to use this computer.

    4) click apply at the bottom of the user accounts window.

    (5) when the newspaper automatically on the dialog box appears, enter the user name for which you want to automatically connect to Windows 7. Then enter your password in the two areas where it is requested.

    6) click on the OK button.

    7) click OK in the window user accounts to complete the process.

Thereafter, your PC at startup, Windows 7 will be automatically connect.

Ticket back for your comments and concerns.

    Kind regards

    1. How can I delete the user name and the image of Windows XP new start; and

    Thank you.

    Hello

The image of user account can be removed by disabling the Welcome screen. Or, by opting for the classic Windows theme. Follow the method described in this article, if you want to remove the user name and the picture in the Start Menu, without disabling the Welcome screen and Windows XP theme.

For those who want to delete the user name and the image of user account from the Start Menu, in order to have a blue white Panel at the top, try this:

Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. Step 1:

    a. start Windows Explorer and go to this folder:

    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft account images

    b. in this folder, rename the BMP file that corresponds to your user account.

(For example, if your user name is Robert, rename Robert.bmp to old_Robert.bmp)

    c. then rename the following folder:

    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft account Pictures\Default pictures

    to something else, for example,.

    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft account Pictures\No_Default images.

    Step 2:

To remove the user name, follow these steps

    a. Click Start, click "RUN" and type "regedit.exe" and navigate to this key:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER-Software-Windows Microsoft\------CurrentVersion-policies-Explorer

    b. in the right pane, the value NoUserNameInStartMenu-value data 1.

    c. close Regedit.exe and restart Windows.

You'll find yourself with a blue area at the top of the Start Menu.

Regarding the pressing 'F1' to start Windows, you have made no changes or was there a system crash after which the problem started?

You may need to change the boot sequence in the BIOS to the default settings. I recommend you contact your PC vendor for this.

    Warning of the BIOS:
BIOS change / semiconductor (CMOS) to complementary metal oxide settings can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the configuration of the BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Changes to settings are at your own risk.
