How can I do a program run at windows startup

Hello

I'm not asking the msconfig Startup tab option, but asking to run a home program to load at startup of Windows XP instead of its default Shell Explorer.exe.

(This registry key is placed in the variable Shell REG_SZ to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\Shell)

It should be like Bank ATMs (ATM) application. XP must load our home program when it starts and end user should not see the Windows desktop and directly see and interact with our program.

Thank you.

You have a shortcut on the desktop to open it now? Drag the shortcut to the Start button, then all programs and drop it in the startup folder.

How can I make Thunderbird start car with windows startup

You can by placing a shortcut in the startup folder of windows, just like any other windows program.

However if you do, you are likely to encounter problems such as downloading email while still load the antivirus and the network is busy, announcing the arrival of machines on the network (which can be a network a) and any other program of a dozen are loading is heavy risk of timeouts and disconnections of the server as well as error messages that make little sense because they are something that still load.

The bottom line is so safe that you can, but if there are any questions bring her out of there first.

  • How can I leave the program runs longer than the duration of sleep?

I have a desktop Pavilion Elite HPE - 110 t (win7) .  Turn off display & sleep have the default value (10 & 20 minutes).  According to the instructions that I read (somewhere in the paper documentation) when I got to the computer a few months ago, I do not turn off it during the night.  I think included grounds for diagnostics to run (by default grid) & I "think" I've seen (the next day) scans messages, updates, etc. have been executed.  I however turn off my modem to prevent the activity internet auto (anyway) during the night.

This configuration has been satisfactory until this morning, when I tried to leave an app running I knew would require more than one hour to complete.  I had other non-computer tasks to do & did not sit the computer baby to keep him awake.  In fact, I thought that 'activity' (including the activities of memory without keyboard activity) he would keep awake.

To my surprise when I got home 3 hours later, treatment stopped about 45 minutes after the start.  This was determined by the timestamps of the output files.  Normal processing resumed after that I have he awakened from his sleep.

Is there a way (outside change go-to-sleep time setting each time) to allow work of long-term programs/application to keep running & to go to sleep after the treatment is finished? Am I wrong to think that 'auto diagnostic' are running when the computer & I sleep at night?

    Thank you

The process will continue even after the monitor goes to sleep.

  • How can I get 4 civilization running on Windows 7?

I use a laptop Toshiba Satellite L450D new that came with Windows 7 Home Premium pre-installed.  I used it for a few months now without any problem - except that some features to my Microsoft Office suite have stopped working.  But I can find workarounds for these problems.  Here's my biggie:

I'm launching the Civilization 4 game
    Developer: Firaxis
    Distribution: 2K Games

I installed the game by using the run as Administrator option.

I then downloaded and installed the latest patch (version 1.61) also use the run as Administrator option.  Apart from the installation of the patch Firaxis and 2 K offers no advice.  Civilization 4 was published in 2005, so I guess it's out of warranty.  It's fine for them, but only, I bought my copy in 2008.

If I try to run the program normally it seems to start fine - with correct flash screen - but then the notebook flips to a blank (black) screen and locks up.  There is a lot of activity from the HD but no sound and nothing on the screen.  I can't work in the Task Manager and I cannot turn the program screens.

Then, I tried to resolve the problems Compatabilitty.  This time, with Win XP settings, I spent the flash screen, credit screens, and the introductory video.  Then lock-up as above.

I have now my laptop works on a dozen big red-switching time and I'm tired.  Hard restarts caused havoc with my settings.  I had a heart attack 10 minutes when, after a reboot, all of my administrator access seemed to have been removed and I couldn't find a way to access the file Explorer.  Then the system restore has refused to roll back!

Since then, the laptop seems to be returned to normal - although my firewall (non-Microsoft) seems to have lost its database of the programs safe and everything slows down asking questions every 5 seconds.  Also, I will not dare try the system restore again until all my work is completely saved.

Please help - while I still have hair to tear.

    Steve.

    Steve,
Have you checked with the support of civilization to this issue yet?  If not you may want to see if it's something they know or have a solution.  http://www.2KGames.com/civ4/support.htm Mike - Engineer Support Microsoft Answers

  • How can I restore my programs after installing windows Ultimate edition?

Hello, I do a final install of custom windows and all of my programs will come... How to restore it for example my iTunes and all games

You can not copy programs from one computer to another, you must use the original media. A program installer does not just create a program folder and copy the files into it. The installer will change the registry, set the permissions of folders and files, save the files in the library used by programs and create all shortcuts.

Unfortunately the backup options that include all Windows restore itself prevent a clean install.

  • How can I configure a program to run on only one heart of my multi-core computer?

    Hello

I have a multiple basic computer, except a very processor that is only designed to run on one heart program (maybe you have heard of him; Dwarf Fortress. Otherwise, it is not really necessary, but good). Now I wonder, how can I set the program to run only on a single heart, whenever I start it? I have a shortcut on my desktop, so if it is not possible to change the parameters of the program or other stuff like in Windows itself, I don't have the ability to change the shortcut to make it work on a carrot.

    Hello Drake1500,

Thank you for using the Microsoft Windows Vista Forums.

Since given as each program/software is configured differently to work on mulit or transformation of a nucleus there is nothing that Vista can do to change that.  You need to change something in the formula of the show itself.  I enclose a link below which talks about this issue.  Please let me know if you have any other questions.

  • How can I stop CHKDSK from running on startup?

CHKDSK turned on somehow and now every time I start my Pc it runs this program.  It is on my hard drive and takes a long time to startup!  How can I stop the program from running at startup?

The next time your system starts and installs, you should check the bit of impurity of the volume as follows:

Click Start, run and enter in the box:

    cmd

Click OK to open the command prompt window.

To query the bit of impurity on drive C, type:

    fsutil dirty query C:

    The sample output:
    Volume c is dirty
    Volume C: is dirty

Type "exit" to close the command prompt window.

Is your disc dirty or it is not dirty?    If you have more than one volume, check all out them.

A volume is marked usually dirty of a power outage or something like using the power button to restart the system.  One of this kind of thing has happened before this problem?

The command chkntfs /d to clear a chkdsk waiting you plan yourself, but it does not clear the dirty bit.

The command chkntfs /X C: never say XP check the reader for inconsistencies again and perhaps not a good idea since the reader may really need that chkdsk to run on it.  If the dirty bit is just NOT clear, no matter what you do, your HARD disk may be failing / failed.

The only way to clear the dirty bit is a success of chkdsk /r and if she will not clear at the start of your system, I would run it from the XP Recovery Console so you can watch it run and if you like, run it again until it runs its own.  You cannot check the good bit of impurity of the XP Recovery Console, but you can see what chkdsk/r.

Since we don't know anything about your system, here are some instructions for making a CD of bootable XP Recovery Console and from there, you can run chkdsk/r until it comes clean.

Boot into the Recovery Console Windows using an XP bootable installation CD.

If you have no XP bootable media (or aren't sure you have) create a bootable XP Recovery CD of Console and do not forget.

This is not the same as recovery disks that might have come with the acquisition of the system store.

You can make a bootable Recovery Console CD by downloading an ISO file and burn it to a CD.

The ISO bootable image file you need to download is called:

    xp_rec_con. ISO

    Download the ISO from here:

    http://www.mediafire.com/?ueyyzfymmig

Use a new CD and this simple and free program to burn your ISO file and create your bootable CD:

    http://www.ImgBurn.com/

When you install ImgBurn, DO NOT install the Ask toolbar.

Here are some instructions for ImgBurn:

    http://Forum.ImgBurn.com/index.php?showtopic=61

It would be a good idea to test your bootable CD on a computer running.

You may need to adjust the computer BIOS settings to use the CD-ROM drive as the first device to boot instead of the hard drive.  These adjustments are made before Windows tries to load.  If you miss it, you will need to restart the system again.

When you start on the CD, follow the instructions:

Press any key to boot from CD...

    Installing Windows... going to pronounce.

Press 'R' to enter the Recovery Console.

Select the installation that you want to access (usually 1: C:\WINDOWS)

You may be asked to enter the password (usually empty).

You should be in the folder C:\WINDOWS.  It's the same as the

C:\Windows folder that you see in Solution Explorer.

The Recovery Console allows base as file commands: copy, rename, replace, delete, chkdsk, fixboot, fixmbr, cd, etc.

For a list of the commands in the Recovery Console, type help at the prompt of commands or read on here XP Recovery Console:

    http://www.Microsoft.com/resources/documentation/Windows/XP/all/proddocs/en-us/recovery_console_cmds.mspx?mfr=true

A good idea before you start things must first verify the integrity of your file system by using the chkdsk command.

In the command prompt window, run the chkdsk command on the drive where Windows is installed to try to fix any problems on the afflicted player.

Running chkdsk is fine, even if he finds no problem.  It won't hurt anything to run it.

Assuming your boot drive is C, run the following command:

    CHKDSK C: /r

Let chkdsk finish to correct the problems, he could find.

It may take a long time for chkdsk complete or they seem to be "stuck".  Be patient.  If the HARD drive led blinks always, chkdsk is something.  Keep an eye on the amount of the percentage to be sure that it is still making progress.  It may even seem to go back sometime.

You must run chkdsk/r again until it finds no error to correct.

Remove the CD, and then type "exit" to exit the RC and restart the computer.

You have not to set the BIOS to boot the disk HARD since the CD won't be.

Click Start, run and type msconfig.

On the Startup tab, uncheck what you think that you don't need running at startup.

Then run a virus scan and AntiSpyware - you can find ones that are free on the net and and make sure you have a firewall too.

Press alt-ctrl-del to bring up the Task Manager and close everything that is running that you think are also unnecessary.

Overall be careful; confirm and backup before doing the things mentioned.
