How can I force Firefox Sync to run now?

My Firefox Sync fails to connect (error.login.reason.network) and I run through all the solutions available here as well as the audit of local LAN problems, but whenever I make a change I'm supposed to just for the next synchronization? • How can I force firefox to open an exact url

I live in England but regularly visit the United States. When I'm in the USA some URLS which I use regularly at home translates automatically to their international counterparts. For example, if I type www.bbc.co.uk at home, this site is loaded. If I'm in the USA, it is translated to www.bbc.com, which does not access the same information.

  • How can I force Firefox to download mp3 files and NOT play?

    Hi guys,.

I couldn't change the settings of Firefox in this way, that it does not play mp3 files at all (in any kind of player), but allows to decide what with them for example to download the file.

    What I actually did:

    - changed at settings, that I want a dialog or download any file type and NOT use any other option (yes, all of them - not any kind of effect was seen there...)
    - changed especially all mp3-related options to download
    - deactivated ALL plugins and addons
    - about:config -> media.windows-media-foundation.enabled -> false
    - uninstalled ALL types of mediaplayers (Winamp, VLC etc.), but not WMP because it would be very complicated and would cause several bugs

Many updates before (I think it's up to 20 FF or if) you could simply tell FF, I tried to download the file via the settings and now it isn't.

Is it possible to left I can force Firefox to NOT READ mp3 files in any player and offer my the possibility to download?

Please do NOT give answers like:

    - right click on the file and save it as ... I allready know that and do not want to use that solution. A few years before it was possible, so it should also be possible to directly click at the file and decide what to do with it. On all the sites I want to use it the possibilities are given and not blocked by the sites or implementations itself.

  • How can I make Firefox Sync synchronize manually?

    Here's my situation:

I synchronize my bookmarks, passwords and extensions with Firefox Sync.

When I start Firefox, it asks me my master password as Firefox sync wants to synchronize at startup and I set up a master password.

So what is happening, I type a website address, the password Master dialog appears, receives the focus and I accidentally type a part of the address of the site in the password dialog box I reject using escape, and then I have to retype the address of the site.

A solution for me would be to disable automatic synchronization (or least just after startup).

Is there a way to do this?

(I'm not afraid of the subject: config, but unfortunately he is there nothing that could remedy.) If not, could drop this as a feature request in Bugzilla, or as a UX question?)

Note that you can also specify a time limit upward to 300 seconds through the services.sync.autoconnectDelay preference.

  • How can I stop Firefox Sync to synchronize the on/off status of the addons?

I like that Firefox Sync allows you to synchronize the addons are installed in my browser, but I don't like that she insists on synchronization also their on/off status.

I have a desktop computer, a laptop and a work computer, and I cannot or do not want to run all the addons everywhere. For example, I want to run NoScript at work, but I don't want to run it at home because I have something implemented at the level of the router.

Do I have any options in addition to throwing the baby out with the bath water by completely disabling the addon sync?

I found a solution on my own. I should have researched more before asking, but maybe that this will help others also:

  • How can I force Firefox to access an external web site rather than the site corresponding to the cache on my computer?

A web site that I regularly access using Firefox has been updated in the last 24 hours. I make Firefox to access the external site updates rather than site updates apparently stored on my memory cache?

You can reload webpages and ignore the cache to refresh potentially stale or corrupt.

    • Hold down the SHIFT key and click the Reload button
    • Press 'Ctrl + F5' or 'Ctrl + Shift + R' (Windows, Linux)
    • Press 'Command + shift + R' (Mac)

If I go into preferences/applications and .avi files using mplayer, that it works exactly as he used the value, but if I do it for mp3 audio/mpeg fires mplayer adds to the list of download but when I click on the mp3 file
It opens a new page with something that kind of looks like a player, but does not work! the download button argues that "Movie player is the default but I run mplayer to be the default value. Note: it's firefox - 32.0.2. This has worked in 23.0.1 - 1

OK my pilot error! This fix allows clicking on the mp3 play at least sounds if I set preferences correctly for mplayer. But it still does not put the mplayer window so I have no control to pause the audio. Maybe it's because mplayer is loaded as a plugin. It is interesting that if I use totem instead of mplayer, totem runs in a new window, which allows the audio control.

  • How can I stop Firefox Sync Sync homepage?

I use different homepages at work and at home and I would like to prevent the homepage of synchronization.

There are services.sync.prefs.sync associated with which to synchronize prefs prefs and you can set the pref services.sync corresponding to false to prevent the synchronization of this preference.

You can set the pref services.sync.prefs.sync.browser.startup.homepage false on the topic: config page.

To open the topic: config page, type Subject: config in the address bar (address) and press the 'Enter' key, as you type the url of a Web site to open a Web site.

If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access this page.

    • Use the filter at the top bar of the on: page config to more easily spot a preference.
    • Preferences that have changed see the bold (user set).
    • Preferences you can restore the default value or change via the context menu.

You cannot use an Internet café to access bookmarks, the add-on Firefox Sync is limited to synchronization data, it does not include an option to access the bookmarks from any computer online. There are other companies that offer online access to favorites such as Google Bookmarks and Delicious bookmarks.

Xmarks can continue, but you will have to pay to use it, for details, see http://blog.xmarks.com/?p=1945

  • Firefox continues to change url in the address bar, even when I type a url full. How can I force my search?

Dealing with the same companies daily, weekly, or on a very regular basis. When I get a new business account or a customer, I try to remember to delete erroneous results in the address bar. I hit the full url (.com) in the address bar, but Firefox forces of memory (or history) and the only way I can get where I'm going is to type the address from a search engine.

I have everything: completion of the configged, but that didn't work. I also tried autofill.typed, but that has not worked. I tried to change tools > address bar, but the choices are not good. I almost never search bookmarks and my story is too often used to remove. (It seems counterproductive). How can I stop Firefox forcing me to go places I want to go?

It looks like - in the sense to remember shit that I can't remember - and to do my research much more difficult.
I had problems - particularly in Amazonia. I wrote a couple of times. Nobody has ever gotten back me on why FIREFOX has so many problems. If I get answers here, how can I get answers? I don't want to use IE and I don't want to have to avoid certain websites because results suck. I'm in limbo until solutions are found.

    Thank you.

I don't know if the problem is that Firefox itself changes the address you type in the address bar, or if the site is immediately Firefox redirection to another page when trying to access the address you specified.

For example, 1 & 1 Webmail currently redirects to this site for login: https://webmailcluster.perfora.net/
