How can I get the option I chose in Mail applications, to work on a web page

When I go into options, applications, highlight (mailto) I have three choices... Yahoo, Gmail or Windows Live Mail. No matter which I select none of them work since the last update 5 FF, all I get when clicking on an icon of e-mail to a site Web is another tab opens but it is empty with the address bar saying (topic: empty)
Every time I made a change, I restarted FF, but it still does not.

You can watch the Network.protocol - handler.external.mailto and other mailto prefs the subject: config page.

You can open on: pages through the bar of addresses as you open a Web site.
Filter: mailto

If Network.protocol - handler.external.mailto prefs are user defined (in bold) and then right click and reset them by default.

You can also try to change the pref Network.protocol - handler.warn - external .mailto to true.

To open the topic: config page, type Subject: config in the address bar (address) and press the 'Enter' key, as you type the url of a Web site to open a Web site.

If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access this page.

  • Use the filter at the top bar of the on: page config to more easily spot a preference.
  • Preferences that have changed see the bold (user set).
  • Preferences you can restore the default value or change via the context menu.
