How can I point my catalog LR6

I built a new PC and put my cat LR on the D drive on my SSD.

When I Cat settings / general, it is said the location is C:/users/Jim/pictures/Lightroom.

I went to the catalog and do an import in another catalog (pointed D drive)

He imported the cat without hassle, but now I have double the number of photos and chat settings it still says location is

C:/users/Jim/pictures/Lightroom.

My Pictures folder is now also double the number of photos.

I put off action on my pictures, until I know the hell LR for my editing.

I'm not a model, but the works of way LR really baffles me even after 3 years.

I'm alone?

It seems that you have created a combined catalogue of the C & D locations by importation.

Just use the menu:

File > open catalog

Then go to your catalog on the D drive.

Click the restart and LR open catalog to the new location.

You have copied the previews on the D drive, it should be fast enough if LR will generate new insights. See this link for more information.

If it is on the same computer, you should be able to connect to allow Lightroom to know you now use your new monthly plan, the catalog file should be automatically usable with no addition step.

If it's another computer, you need to transfer everything: http://www.lightroomqueen.com/how-move-lightroom-to-new-computer/

  • How can I synchronize my catalog and photos stored on my PC with my new MacBook Pro?

How can I synchronize my catalog and photos created on my PC with my new MacBook Pro?  I can't find a tutorial on how to do it.  I have the CC of photographers and Lightroom loaded on my MacBook.

The easiest way to configure things so that you can use the same catalog on both systems is to put the catalog and the files of photos on a single external drive, which then you exchange between systems as needed. If you configure things properly, you can even avoid having to "link" the picture whenever you pass. You do only through pictures stored in the same folder as the catalog and at the same level, for example say you have "yourname Catalog.lrcat" located at the root of a folder called "Lightroom Sync", then you would need to have all your photos in the same folder "Lightroom Sync", once again to the root, so that the photos to sit at the same level as the catalog (paste all files under a single parent at the level folder of) catalog is easier). Installation like this, Lightroom can use the relative path of the catalog of photos and avoid any need to worry about the convention of naming/lettering of the operating system. Obviously, the hard drive must be formatted such as Windows and OSX have permissions of read/write on the disc, for example FAT32.

There are other more complex methods, (for example using something like Dropbox), but the method 'all on one disc"is by far the simplest (and probably).

I had a computer crash and made a new installation of Win7 and restoring all files to Carbonite.  I managed to get 5 LR running in LR.  However, I don't know that I have all my previous catalogs. How can I find my catalogs to make sure I have a complete inventory of all my catalogs.

If you have downloaded all the files Carbonite, then the question is, are your catalog never included in the Carbonite backup in the first place?

If so, then all you have to do is look for *. LRCAT file.

  • How can I move a catalog from a computer off for a new installation of Lr?

I replaced my computer.  I have still the old one but it is not connected to the Internet and the HARD drive where the Lr catalog is installed has been removed.  I put the HARD drive on the new computer.  I think that all the photos and the file Lrcat is on the HARD drive that was on the old computer/new computer.

How can I go on extraction lrcat file that it finds and recognized the old catalog?  So I need to remap whatever it is?

    Thank you.

You are probably using Windows under a user account. I think you will find that if you set Lightroom to run as administrator you will have no problem. Given that you have renamed your Lightroom Catalog will not recognize it in any case. You will need to use the file-> Open to open the Catalog under the new name. But you'll probably have to run Lightroom as administrator.

  • How can I separate old catalog of photography

I redesign my photos in Lightroom. I used to make new catalogs for each photo, but now I try to combine the old catalogs into one containing all the photos. But when I import the old catalog in the news using the photo, I often get the message that the picture already belongs to another catalog and cannot be part of the two catalogues. How can I separate old catalogues of the photo? I do not understand importing catalogs and changing directories in LR, but dissociate seems to be too difficult for me.

I have 5 Lightroom for Windows.

I get the message in Dutch, so maybe my translation makes the differnet answer of what the system would generate: the file 'DSC02102. ARW' is related to another image in the catalog.  Each file can be linked to the single image . DSC02102. ARW is a sony raw format.

Look at the drawListRow method in the ListFieldCallback. This code is responsible for displaying the name of each line; You can use the same logic to get the name for other purposes.

  • How can I point LR2 for my photos

I am reinstalling my software on a new system and can't seem to point lightroom for my photos.  I know that there is a way to do it.  I want LR to import, maybe this isn't the right word, my existing photos and create a catalog based on the structure of my file.  I keep trying to create a catalogue or a collection, but when I go into the folder where are my photos, he continues to ask for a file name.  When I try to import files to the disc, he wants a destination.  I don't want to move the files, I just LR to use as a source.  It can't be that hard, but I keep going round in circles.

When you make a file-> import Photos from disk, you choose how Lightroom handles the photos. You choose the pictures and then in the import of pictures dialog box, under file, select Add pictures to catalog without moving.

  • How can I open disc catalog to view the catalog once the CD in the CD/DVD drive?

Original title: I have Windows XP. Service Pack III

    2. I decided to get a new rower because mine is old; 11 yeaes HOW to uninstall all my software before as I have donate to charity? I will give them the OEM disk for this computer.

    1. I received a disk catalog; How to open until you see the catalog once the CD is in the CD Driver?

If nothing happens when you put the CD in the drive, go to my computer and double-click on the icon for your CD drive.  This will open a window of Windows Explorer showing the files on the CD.  If you think that there should be a sort of slide show or any other presentation, look for a file named "Setup" or similar, and then double-click that.  For more help, provide more details on the 'catalog disk,"including she comes from and what you think you're supposed to see this topic.

    2. I decided to get a new Tower since mine has 11 years; HOW to uninstall all my software before as I have donate to charity? I will give them the OEM disk for this computer.

The answer to this question depends on your answers to the following two questions:

    a. do you care if you make a donation to the computer with no operating system or other software installed?

If the answer to (a) is 'No', you need to do is:

    • Copy all your documents, photos, music, and other data to another computer or storage medium (e.g., CD, DVD, USB flash drive, external hard drive, "cloud storage", etc.), and then
    • Download Darik Boot and Nuke, create a bootable CD, put it in your CD drive and restart the computer to completely erase the hard drive.  You will need a CD burner (able to write CD CD player), a blank recordable CD and burning software "ISO".  For the latter, I suggest ImgBurn or you can use CDBurnerXP mentioned in the FAQ of DBAN section (both applications are free).

If the answer to (a) is 'Yes', then

    b. What is the "OEM disc?  Please provide all the information which is printed on the face of the CD.

  • How can I clean my catalog of unnecessary or deleted files?

I have 14 of PSE, my catalogue contains lots of files moved or deleted, as well as certain types of files not supported or unnecessary. My question is, how do I clean this up in my catalog? I am planing to move my catalog a "personal cloud drive" or drive NAS on my home network so as to free up much needed space on my C drive.

    OtisPDriftwood wrote:

Simply connect the external drive to any computer in your home with the required version of the elements, and you're ready. »

To do this, simply use the command move in PSE 14? Either move the catalog to my drive USB (and library), then remove safely from my C drive once I'm satisfied all works well.

    More details:

Your project requires you to move the library and catalog safely, which suggests a backup full anyway.

It is just the first step of the recommended way to move them to a new computer.

    https://helpx.Adobe.com/Photoshop-elements/KB/backup-restore-move-catalog-Photoshop.html

You perform the full backup that stores all the necessary elements to restore on another computer, another drive or another master folder while keeping the links in the database catalog properly with the new destination. Let's say that you do this on an external disk or in a folder on your home network. The backup folder will be used to 'restore' on the "custom location" in the new destination folder/drive.

The backup process restores your library (image folder tree) and your catalog to the new destination folder, the USB key suggested.

When it is connected to one of your computers, you can open the organizer with the catalog by double clicking on the database, the file "catalog.pse14db" in the catalog folder.

Ditto for the second computer. Remember that the Flash DRIVE has the same drive letter in both computers.

If you have more than two computers (then you need more licenses...), this is the same process of restoring your backup catalog.

What has been published on the last connected drive is ready and available in the next connected to the computer.

    Notes on the catalog files:

-you will find their location in the menu help > system information

-by default, they are in a folder 'hidden' in the Solution Explorer, you may need to set to show files and folders hidden in Windows.

-Content (links) in the catalog is not changed if you move the entire folder elsewhere but if you move your image files outside of the Organizer, the links are not updated either...

-Catalog Manager allows you to move a folder from catalog back to the default location, but if you want to move it to default to a custom location, get you Explorer.

If you just want to move your library or part of it to a new drive, you can do so from the organizer of slip and fall in the folder tree in the left panel of records. Catalogs remains in default location.
