How can I safely reformat my hard drive to boot?

Ok.  My mid-2011 Mac Mini is dead.  Graphics chip on the motherboard is gone belly up.  I have a second Mac Mini that was given to me by a friend who uses it is no longer.  Now, I want to load my apps on the new Mini.  First of all, I am trying to load Adobe CS6 but I get the following error:

The Adobe forums, seems, there is no way around this except to the reformat my hard drive to the search.  I'm OK with that because the guy who gave me this Mini essentially emptied all of his stuff is basically empty except all system files.  My question is: how to reformat this disk on a sensitive volume without respect I can boot from.

Any help is appreciated.

Thank you

Kevin H.

At the start of the partition of disk or recovery that you will use to install the operating system, open disk utility, select the volume, click the Erase tab and specify the format desired.

  • T61p how can I back up my hard drive

    <->Hello

My laptop out of no where would not turn on and exposes the 1 long beep and 2 short beeps with a white screen. He is 5 years old and started to act a little, so I had to replace anyway, but my question is how can I save my drive hard if I can't turn on your computer?

I read somewhere there is some type of adapter under $ 10 that plugs directly into the hard drive and then I can plug in my desktop computer... anyone know if this is true and this which is called the cord I need? Or how I could do to get my files on my hard drive?

    Thank you.

Will need you a 2.5 "USB to SATA external enclosure. You can buy some fees at most computer stores, for example the selection to computers Canada. 2 USB works perfectly although you can spend a little more for the newer and more fast USB 3 which will be on your new computer.

Once you have moved the disc again case simply plug into a USB port as if it were a USB flash drive. The operating system will recognize it, install the necessary drivers and allow you to access the help of Windows Explorer or similar.

  • How can I delate everything from hard drive except the OS

I want to remove all deLL iNSPIRON RUNNING xp, ELLES THE OPERATING SYSTEM.

    Hello

Thanks for posting in the Microsoft Community.

I understand that you want to remove all of the hard drive except the OS.

1 how many partitions you have?

    Please follow the methods.

    Method 1

If you have only one partition, in this case you will need to manually remove data that you don't want.

To uninstall the programs that you do not use, see the link.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/307895

You can also run Disk Cleanup tool, that helps you free up space on your hard drive

    See the link.

    Method 2:

If you use multiple partitions, you can go ahead and format drives, except the partition where you installed OS.

NOTE: formatting the drive will remove all data and software installed on your computer.

  • Where and how can I reinstall the external hard drive to the new HD to the computer?

    Original title: HD crashed.

I want to thank the person who answered my question about the HD crashed I saved all my data and window xp. My next question is, how and where can I reinstall external hard drive for the new HD to the computer? Should I send it to drive c or where? I'm not strong when it comes to computers. I know just enough to get me in trouble. Thank you.

    Hello!

You will need to use a full copy of Windows XP.  Should be a sticker with the product key on the side of your desk or below if it is a laptop.

Once you have this drive, you can reinstall Windows XP.  After you have installed all the software and drivers, you will be able to transfer all your data to the new HARD drive.

If you don't have a copy of Windows XP, you can probably get a copy of the recovery from the manufacturing of computer media.  Just to provide the model and serial number and they should sent it.

    Hi John and Missy Verhoog,

    1. What is the error message you are getting?

2 have you checked the State of the drive in Device Manager?

Check to see if the external drive is getting detected in Device Manager.

    a. Click Start, type devmgmt.msc and press to enter.

    b. find the name of the drive in the list of Bus USB controllers.

    c. right click on the device, and then select properties to view general information about the drivers.

  • How can I change primary H hard drive c?

Recently, I had a disk failure hard and after installation to a new hard drive and reinstall all the software I found that the hard drive was affected as H c not. So far this has not been a problem because everything worked correctly. Now I want to install a new piece of software, but before I load it I get a download from the manufacturer's website. When I try this it will only download on the C drive and there is no way to change this.

So, how can I change my c: drive? I tried under storage disk management in the computer management, but it will not allow a change.

I am running Windows XP pro with all the updates.

Let's try this via the disk part control

    (a) click Start and in the start search bar type cmd, right-click on the command prompt icon in the box programs and then click Run as administrator.

    (b) at the command prompt, type diskpart , and then on enter.

    (c) type list disk and press ENTER. A list of available hard disks.

    (d) type salt disc number and press ENTER . Number is the number of the hard disk where you want to reduce; the hard drive is now selected.

    (e) type det disk , and then press ENTER .

    (f) type salt volume number and press ENTER . Number is the number of the volume that we want to reduce

    (g) type shrink desired = 1000 (reduced the volume of 1000 Mb) and wait until the action is performed

How to recover data if it is not possible

    Hello

If your hard drive has OEM software on it then mvoing hard drive to another one with a different motherboard is more likey a violation of software license.

You can remove the hard drive and put it in an external USB case to recover the data.

  • How can I delete file from HARD drive recovery?

I burned a copy of the HDD recovery folder and would now like to delete the original folder on my hard drive that I need the space.
Unfortunately I don't seem to have permission to make changes to the file.

Any suggestions? (I'm a noob in vista)

    Thank you

    > burned a copy of the HDD recovery folder
I think this will not help you if you would try to recover this file of HARD drive recovery once again!
You need a recovery disk! This disc would only create a HARD disk partition once again!

This means that you must create the recovery disk, first using the Toshiba recovery disc creator! This tool is preinstalled!

So after you have created a successfully recovery disk, you can try to delete the folder from the HARD drive. But to be honest, I don t recommend this I want to say that this folder can be very useful in the future in case something goes wrong with your system

However, I think that you cannot delete it because you don t have permission to admin
You can try to disable UAC first
Disable UAC is as easy as start > run > msconfig > tools > disable UAC > Ok.

  • How can I back up my hard drive?

I can't find the command for the backup of my hard drive.  I have an external hard drive ready to receive content from my pc.  I can't find the command.

It seems that you are referring to the native backup program in Windows XP. Do not use! It is very problematic.

Since you want to back up the entire hard drive, you will need to use a third-party software and an external hard drive as the destination for the files in the archive you create. There are a number of programs that create images of entire hard disk (or partitions, if you prefer). I've had positive experiences with Acronis True Image Home. Others have said positive things about Paragon.

Here's a tutorial on the use of Acronis:

In here is a free (but limited) imaging program called DriveImageXML:

  • How can I defragment a complete hard drive (formerly)?

I want to give my husband my old laptop, a HP non-tech.  It's the hard drive 60 gigabytes.  A few days ago, I sent most of my personal to the Recycle Bin and then deleted files (don't worry, all these files are in my new computer and saved on an external hard drive), the thought that would open up more space, because it was so full.  (The Defragmenter says he needs 15% free space on the disk.)  The Defragmenter says only 1 percent of the space was available, and after I left to do its thing, he went up to 2%.

Is not remove all these files something interesting?

I must also say that I deleted a bunch of files temporary and others, also, but this seems not to have helped.

Is it possible that I can open a space on the hard drive without having to completely clean and re - install all software?  Thank you.
