How can I stop people deleting files other people created in windows 7?
How can I stop people deleting files other people created in windows 7? I've had this settings in windows XP. a public folder where no one can delete the files that they did not create. only the creator has been able to delete the folder.
Please notify.
Thank you!
You can do almost the same way in Windows 7. Basically you right click on the folder and choose Properties. Under Security, you can decide who can and cannot remove the folder (or even see the folder if you wish, to hide from others).
Just be careful. I recommend not using the "deny". Just do not give someone the function "allow." Denials have priority and I saw where people wrongly denied their own access to the folder, and according to the options chosen, you can't "undo" who am wrong.

I created a powerpoint document and converted a video (wmv file)How can I stop people copying my (video) wmv file? No, you do not have to pay taxes or royalties to Microsoft for what you do... If it's just to play back on a computer using Windows Media Player or other software.
You can't stop people from copying your videos... There is a software that can rip the copies of it while playing on a computer, and my camcorder can get a copy while on a tripod, aimed at a computer screen.

How can I recover a deleted files?
How can I recover a deleted files?
Hi jamesc15546086,
Have you deleted the PDF of the Document cloud or your system?
If you deleted it out of the cloud of Document it will be possible to recover the file unless you have a backup for this on the system or elsewhere.
Otherwise if you have deleted the file from your system, then you can recover it forms the trash (if its there in the Recycle bin).
Kind regards

How can I print just the file names listed in a window of Windows 7?
How can I print just the file names listed in a window of Windows 7?
I found the info in this post...
http://answers.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/Forum/Windows_7-files/for-Windows-7-can-i-print-a-listing-of-what-is-in/b233cbeb-647d-4E32-ae1f-8523d62b2dc9Here, a link takes me to an article at this link...
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/321379This article explains then that I need to download and run blindly 'Fix - It' application to obtain the simple ability to print a directory window... but it does not say what I'd do once downloaded the general application of "Fix - It" to get this option which should be part of the Windows 7 basic features first.
Or, the article told me that I can "modify the registry" (?) in order to get the print option window... but I know that by having a character moved when editing the registry, it can bring down the entire computer and make it completely unusable.
Those are really the only options to print all simply a window?... in addition to several screenshots and melted together in Photoshop and then print this image?
Why not just give Windows 7 a 'PRINT' button under 'FILE' as other operating systems have always done... has always done Windows default this feature?
This seems just crazy... This misunderstanding?
Thank you
NuMetro
I tried to copy and paste the name of the window... This time I tried while holding down the SHIFT key and it sticks anything in Notepad.
This is not what I've proposed.
- Select the files whose names you want to print. CTRL + A selects all.
- Hold the SHIFT key, then right click on a file and select copy in the path from the context menu. This will put a list of filenames (path) to the Windows Clipboard.
- Click inside a document, and the stick.
Have another go.

I have just upgraded to Windows 7. But whenever I turn on my computer, he wants to support me on my user account name before completely loading windows. How can I stop this and simply load in thank you Windows.
Hi UKuser7,
Welcome to Microsoft Answers Forum.
Automatic logon is disabled in Windows 7 by default for security reasons. If it is enabled, anyone who can physically access the computer can also gain access to everything on the computer, including the networks that it is connected.
This setting is only recommended for cases where the computer is physically secure.
To set up Windows 7 to connect to the desktop automatically, follow the steps below.
1) click Start , and then enter the following command in the start search box:
Netplwiz
2) press ENTER.
This opens the Advanced user accounts Control Panel window.
(3) in the users tab, uncheck the box next to users must enter a user name and password to use this computer.
4) click apply at the bottom of the user accounts window.
(5) when the newspaper automatically on the dialog box appears, enter the user name for which you want to automatically connect to Windows 7. Then enter your password in the two areas where it is requested.
6) click on the OK button.
7) click OK in the window user accounts to complete the process.
Thereafter, your PC at startup, Windows 7 will be automatically connect.
Ticket back for your comments and concerns.
Kind regards

How can I make sure deleted files are permantly removed from my system and non-recoverable?
I have files that I deleted, then emptied my Recycle Bin, but I understand that these are still recoverable. They have not been sent, published or shared. How can I make sure that they are permantently deleted and not accessible from my computer. I have Windows 7 on a HP DM4 if that helps. I need simple answers because I'm a girl who is not all that computer savy. I appreciate the answers, thank you.
It all depends on how hard you want the person you are looking for the file to work. What you did until the preserved most of other casual users to recover files.
If you take the hard drive to a data recovery company, they would probably still recover (unsecured) files. You can use programs that write too much data time and time again - but even in this case, it might be salvageable.Government and businesses know that the only way to ensure that the files have disappeared is to destroy the drive - by crushing or it chop into pieces with a machine to grind. -
How can I stop OE 'compress files to free disk space,'
How can I prevent the notice OE ("compression of files to free up disk space"), constantly arise. I moved the cd, deleted files, shortcuts to files, etc., and I still get this pop up to compress files. very annoying. Help
Have let you compact? Disk space is not recovered until you do. Let compact, you should not see the prompt again for 100 closures of OE. If you see more often, after the return. If not, read this.
*******************
Why OE insists on compacting folders when I close it? :
http://www.insideoe.com/FAQs/why.htm#compactAbout file Corruption:
http://www.Microsoft.com/Windows/IE/community/columns/filecorruption.mspxCompacting your folders periodically is a must to keep OE works fine and at some point, you may lose all your saved messages if you do not. When you delete or move messages, the space they used remains until you compact.
Never touch anything until the compression is finished.* *.
See:
www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#2With SP2, Automatic compaction in the background has been removed because of problems he has caused. Now, you will get a prompt to compact after 100 closures of OE, you need to do, and do not touch anything until it's finished. If you compact manually, at your convenience, this will also set the counter to zero. See this for more information:
http://www.insideoe.com/files/maintain.htm#compactIf you are fully patched, you will now see a copy of your dbx files copied to the Recycle Bin as BAK files. If something goes wrong when compacting, the messages can be easily restored from this backup. A compact manual resets also the counter in the back of the registry to zero now.
For more information, see the information framed in red here:
www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#2To keep things running smooth and harden faster:
Do not archive mail in default OE folders. It will eventually become corrupt and you may lose mail. Create your own folders defined by the user for mail storage and move your mail to them. Empty the deleted items folder regularly. Keep user created folders under 300 MB, and also empty as is possible to default folders.
And backup often.

How to stop the message you have files waiting to be burned to the disc. I don't want to delete the files I just want the message ent.
Hello
By deleting records, you not delete the orginial files. The original files will be saved in a different location. As suggested above, the files are first copied to a temporary location, and then a disk image file is created. To remove the pop up, you may need to delete the temporary files in the location of "burn".
Hope this information helps.

How can I stop the AI files link in the design
Hi all
I noticed with the new versions of the AI if I use an element in a design (say a logo which is a tiff file) can remove this logo from my MAC file or move it to another folder, when I opened this design I still once he wants me to re-edit the link or find the file of the logo. Is there a way to get back to the old way and have the file of the logo to be included in the file HAVE, so I don't have this problem?

How can I stop a deleted e-mail to be saved
I'm trying to permanently delete a deleted e-mail please help
If you were talking about Outlook e-mail client of MS Office (not Outlook.com), then I suggest yours one of the SHIFT keys down while in click right delete or by tapping the delete key.
Given that you have posted in forum Windows instead of office. Outlook Forum, I guess you mean a session of browser-based email to Outlook.com, Hotmail or another webmail service. If this is the case, it would be useful to know the name of the web mail service and what browser you use to access. Of course, if the service is gmail or Yahoo, it is probably best to post in the forums to help dedicated to these services.
