How can I transfer files to a new catalog?
I use a PC, LIghtroom 6.2.1 and Windows 7.
Here's my question: I'm trying to import into a new catalog on an external drive again, bigger. Catalog and current photo files are on my laptop. I'm following the instructions below, which I think I've taken correctly from web sources and a book of Lightroom:
a.) I created a new catalog on my new external drive.
(b) I start to Lightroom with the new catalog and go to: file | Import from another catalog
(c.) I go to the catalog on my laptop and select it. Lightroom is preparing to import by searching for duplicates, etc.
(d.) he then gives me an option to import. There is no option to select a folder or folders to import.
e.) Lightroom matter to them all of the old catalog without folder structure. Everything happens in a folder called "Photos".
f.) I find myself with the 'pictures' folder containing > 10 000 images. Develop settings, etc., seem to be coming.
How can I do this by providing a file at a time to the new order and catalog? As it is, all my folder structure is trashed.
What I am doing wrong?
Thanks for any help.
Ralph
OK, what you want to do is to merge multiple catalogs in one.
To maintain the folder structure as it is, you must manually copy the images to the new disk by copying the directory tree.
To merge files without others, select the images you want to transfer in the old catalog, "export as catalog" but do not include the "negative files.
Using the new catalogue, "the catalog import" use this catalog temp.
To merge all records, "the catalog import" using the large original catalogue.
After the "catalog import", you must go to the Panel of the new catalogue records and 'find missing' or 'move' the highest records so that Lightroom knows that the files are now on the new drive.

How can I transfer files from my old sony pc running vista for my laptop new HP 17-j003 Windows 8
Welcome to the HP, Roodie forum.
There is an easy way to do it using Microsoft Windows Easy Transfer :
Transfer files and settings from another PC
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you do not want to transfer files using the easy transfer method, you can manually make the copy.
- You can connect the systems on the same network,
- Define the folders that contain your data transfer to 'Share' on the network
- Map the drive on your new Vista computer system network
- Copy the data you want to transfer
On the Vista Machine:
- Open a Windows Explorer window,
- Right click on the folder that contains the data you want to 'share' (transfer)
- Click Properties > share > share and follow the instructions to allow the folder to be shared on the network
On the Machine Windows 8:
- Windows key (opens the start screen) > anywhere type 'computer' >
- Click on "computer" to open the "Computer" File Explorer window >
- Click map network drive and follow the instructions to map the drive
Don't forget: If your account name is different on the Vista computer, you will need to click on "Sign in using different credentials" and then enter the name of the account on the Vista computer AND the password for this account.
You can do this with the upper or lower level folders folder level - as long as the folder is shared, you should have general access to the data it contains.
There are cases where you will not end up being "owner" of the data transferred - you will have to perhaps enter and adjust the property for files / folders after they are copied to the computer of Windows 8.

How can I transfer files from desktop to Satellite L10
How can I transfer files (My Documents) of desktop running Windows XP for Toshiba L10 portable? No COM or serial port L10.
Hello
I prefer to use the connection to the local network. It s a simple procedure.
You must set the same workgroup on both devices (laptop and desktop)
Then you will need to select the LAN card properties and select the properties of the TCP/IP protocol.
Here, you must set the IP on the laptop such as the 192.168.50.1 and the laptop at 192.168.50.2
Door entry and other parameters to solve automatically.
Don t forget to set the sharing option on the folder where the files are placed.
After restarting again the connection to the local network should work. -

Hello everyone,
I have a creative cloud license installed on an old mac, how can I transfer it to a new machine?
Hello Claudio,.
Adobe explained here, in this way: https://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/activate-deactivate-products.html > disable an app > one license for Adobe software allows you to install an application on two computers.
Better you charge down from a trial version of Adobe server and change it after that in a "real" version
If you do not need your 'old' computer, you should really disable. However, it is not necessary.

I already paid for Creative cloud on my old mac. How can I transfer it to my new Mac?
I already paid for Creative cloud on my old Mac computer. How can I transfer it to my new Mac?
You do not transfer the programs... you disable and uninstall the old computer, if you aren't going to use it and then install it on the new computer
Cloud license allows 2 activations http://www.adobe.com/legal/licenses-terms.html
-Install on a 2nd computer http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1452292?tstart=0
-Windows or Mac has no importance... 2 on the same operating system or 1 on each
-Two activations may NOT be used at the same time (noted in the link above of the license)

http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-8/move-files#1TC=T1Here's how to use Windows Easy Transfer:
Connect to two PC with an administrator account.
On your new PC, open the charm of the search, enter Windows Easy Transfer and then tap or click applications.
Follow the instructions on the screen.
When you are finished, you can see a report of what was transferred, as well as what Windows was not able to move. To view the report, on your new PC, search for Windows Easy Transfer reports in your applications using the search of charm.
NotesWindows Easy Transfer can't transfer files from a 64-bit version of Windows to a 32-bit version of Windows. In this case, you need to move your files manually.
If your old PC is running Windows Vista or Windows XP, you will be walked Windows Easy Transfer installation as part of the transfer process.
