How can I transfer my favorites to a new computer?
I'm trying to transfer my favorites from one computer to another, both using Firefox. Also, how to make some of my favorites appears in my toolbar in the latest version of Firefox?
If your Firefox settings, including Favorites and saved passwords, are stored in a profile folder. The location varies depending on your Windows version, so please check this article for more information on searching for it: profiles - where Firefox stores your bookmarks, passwords and other user data.
Note: by default, Windows hides all application data files. You can view them by changing a setting. This article has the steps for more recent versions of Windows: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/wi.../show-hidden-files.
Now... Once you have all this info in one convenient place, you have a few different options:
(1) selectively copy a few files. This article has more information: recovery of data from an old profile.
(2) just to restore a backup of bookmarks: this would completely replace the bookmarks in your Firefox new with those that you are restoring. If you have new things, you don't want to lose, then you can add the optional steps:
- (Optional) Export bookmarks: Firefox bookmarks export to a HTML file for backup or transfer bookmarks
- Backup to restore: restore bookmarks from a backup or move them to another computer
- (Optional) Import Bookmarks: import bookmarks to an HTML file
- (Optional) Rearrange Bookmarks imported in logical places (it may be in a folder of bookmarks imported on the menu or in Unsorted bookmarks)
(3) transplant wholesale. I posted some steps to do this in the past, but I'll need to look it up. In General, after doing this, your new computer Firefox looks almost exactly like your old computer, Firefox.

How can I transfer my favorites on an external/portable hard drive?
I know that similar questions had been asked, but the responses I've seen seem to be too techie or does not apply. The bottom line is I lose my cell phone next week and would like to transfer Favorites (and Outlook address book if someone who knows also) on my WD portable hard drive. Thank you!
If you go to view all bookmarks (Ctrl + Shift + B) or:
- Bookmarks > show all bookmarks
There should be an option to "import and backup". You can export your bookmarks to an HTML element and save the file wherever you want. You can then import this file in Firefox on your new laptop computer.
The synchronization may be a better option, please see:

I don't want to cancel my favorites in Outlook Express then is possible that I can copy in Firefox without cancel them in OE.
Outlook Express is an e-mail client and has no Favorites. If you want to say the import from Internet Explorer, see importing bookmarks and other data from Internet Explorer. Import the Favorites does not IE remove them.

I'm transferring my files to an HP laptop to a Dell because the crushed HP desktop computer. I installed Firefox 8 in the Dell computer (I got the Firefox 5 - I believe - in the HP). I'm looking for the old bookmarks file in the old computer, but I can't find them. Where are they? I'll appreciate your help because I had a very good collection of bookmarks. Unfortunately I didn't save them from time to time.
Well, you were able to recover your files. I don't know where you have saved your files, but you can use the search function and search your favorites using this search term "bookmark *.» *«. It should be very probably a JSON extension file.
Once you find the file, use this link to help restore backups.
I hope this helps.

How can I transfer my favorite photos library on my MacBook to another library on an external hard drive without losing metadata and keywords?
If you want to keep the metadata, you must export the images as the current versions, edited. File > export > export... images. Then you can turn on the indicator "Tile, keys, descriptions words":
Choose a high quality for JPEG, not to lose quality. To the RAWs export them under like TIFF picture.
You can export the RAWs as "file > export > export original unmodified" and keep it RAW, but which will not include the metadata. And the Photos will allow you to export an XMP file with metadata, but when I tested, it did not apply the metadata when you import the RAW files again. So the best compromise for the RAW format would be to export as TIFF, another lossless format.

I backed up my blackberry before wiping and I tried to restore only the browser bookmarks using the peripheral device select restore data and settings, but the bookmarks do not return.
Does anyone have any suggestions on that?
Thanks in advance for any help that anyone can provide.
Given that you have reactivated the BES. Fact you restore the backup first and then turn on the BES. If you have completed what you can has erased some of the infromation on the BES activation.

How can you transfer favorites among users. My original user no longer works?
How can you transfer favorites among users. My original user no longer works?
I had to create another profile.Firefox made regular bookmark backups, so that you can restore the backup from your old profile to the new. Although, I suppose that the user is unable to connect, you always have access to its files.
First of all, make sure that Windows allows you to see the hidden files and folders. This article has the steps if necessary: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/show-hidden-files
Then, down the old profile and copy out a few last backups to a more convenient location. You'll look here:
C:\Users\oldusername\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\semi-random-name\bookmarkbackups
File names include a data and County bookmark as well as random characters. I suggest you copy the last two at your new desktop or documents folder.
In Firefox, you can restore the backup file by following the steps in this article: restore bookmarks from a backup or move them to another computer. Use the option "Choose file" to find backups in your office or documents, as appropriate.
Note: You could bookmark that something already in Firefox, but those that are not merged, they are replaced, so if they are essential, you can export your current bookmarks to HTML format, which can be imported from non-destructively after restoring. See:
- Export Firefox bookmarks to an HTML file for backup or transfer bookmarks
- Importing bookmarks from an HTML file
Success?
And if it is interesting to find other old data: recovery of data from an old profile
